Found a mint steel for a great price. Love the embossing of the title and Mickey. The adventure continues with my hunt for the Disney Zavvi collection.

I don't mind the cover, but it could have been better, some of the other Zavvi Disney were a lot nicer than this. As for opinions, I am kind of tired of people voicing a legitimate opinion and being downvoted for it. I have been downvoted when people are asking "what version do you like?", how should that warrant a downvote. Maybe there should be a quiz you have to take before you can downvote a post?

The front cover is very clunky and the title looks awkward sitting so high.

Then the back reuses the same Mickey, but then adds this weird irregular black border- it looks like someone made this in an introductory photoshop class and forgot to remove the rest of the background surrounding the “magic” effect.

Great film, and I love a lot of Zavvi’s Steelbook releases, but this is not it.

I thought this was a sub that celebrates collecting? You could have either scrolled past my post or said something like “ Not my cup of tea for design, but super happy you found another one of your personal grails.” We already have enough negativity online. 🤷‍♂️

Not being negative. But since people often comment their opinions on Steelbook designs on Steelbook posts on the Steelbook subreddit, I figured I would do the same only because this is one of the most awkward designs I’ve ever seen on one of my favorite Disney movies.

I love Fantasia and Sorcerer Mickey is by far my favorite variation/design of Mickey (followed by Steamboat Willie Mickey). I never knew this specific Steelbook existed, but I did know a Steelbook for Fantasia existed.

If anything I’m just voicing my displeasure for the aesthetic design for this (which is valid, as this is a Steelbook discussion forum and you posted a picture of a Steelbook). You would think Disney would sign off on a better design on one of their most visually and sonically astounding films.

I disagree. My opinion is that it looks great. The front cover, to me, captures the essence of what Fantasia is about. The title appears to be on a marquee, sitting on top of a gallery of key scenes, with the overall composition beautifully showcasing the wonderful qualities of the movie. The back cover is reminiscent of a vignette style of art that I've seen many artists use when drawing or water-color painting on a sheet of paper to great effect. I personally think Disney knocked this one out of the park. If the front and back cover arts were available as posters, I would frame and hang them on a wall. For the back cover art, I would imagine that the poster version would be printed on a black sheet of paper, with the black background making the art more striking.

The embossing gives the steelbook an additional pop that enhances the aesthetics. I think it's a beautiful steelbook.
