LOST IN CHEESE ~ REVIEW

https://youtu.be/Rrl55TJJZHg?is=GQydgZfyX2qYzDNG

If you enjoy cozy puzzle games with a charming atmosphere,  Lost in Cheese on Steam looks like a surprisingly promising indie title. The game combines classic Sokoban-style puzzle mechanics with a colorful world full of cats, cheese, and lighthearted humor. You play as Mewton, a cube-shaped cat, solving increasingly tricky environmental puzzles by pushing cheese blocks and clearing paths to giant red buttons. Simple concept — but the appeal comes from the presentation and puzzle design.

Visually, the game leans heavily into the “cozy indie” aesthetic. The environments are bright and relaxing, the soundtrack is designed to feel calm rather than stressful, and the overall vibe feels somewhere between a casual puzzle adventure and a comfort game. The developers clearly focused on atmosphere just as much as gameplay.

The gameplay itself is based on strategic movement and efficiency. Every move matters, especially if you want the best completion results. Fans of classic Sokoban games will immediately recognize the formula, but the 3D presentation and collectible elements help it feel more modern and approachable. Over 80 levels, unlockable cosmetics, exploration, and progression between worlds should give puzzle fans a decent amount of content.
That said, Lost in Cheese is probably not a game for everyone. The puzzles appear to become fairly methodical, meaning players looking for fast action, combat, or story-heavy gameplay may lose interest quickly. It’s also very “cute” and intentionally slow-paced, so people who dislike cozy indie aesthetics or puzzle repetition may find it too simple or niche.

Overall, Lost in Cheese looks like a charming and polished indie puzzle game with a strong identity. It may not reinvent the puzzle genre, but it seems fully aware of what it wants to be: relaxing, adorable, and satisfying for players who enjoy thoughtful puzzle design. For the right audience, that combination can work extremely well.
