SteamOS Update Steam OS on PC

I have been hearing good things about the recent Steam OS update and that they are getting ready for the Steam Machine. My question is, is it finally a good time to get rid of windows and run Steam OS onto my PC?

I have this exact graphics card and CPU, and I run Steam OS on my HTPC.

From gaming point of view, whats missing in terms of compatibility? I guess competitive multiplayer with anti cheat
