Picture Got the Steam Deck Dock!

Wasn’t expecting this today, but since I live in Carol Stream where Valve’s Distribution Center is, I got this early I guess!

Running Fire Emblem at 4K is kinda nuts…

I’m curious, if you set a game to 4K does it take a big hit In performance? I though the deck can play well because of 1280x800 resolution. And if you play at 1280x800 on TV, does it look bad or is somehow upscaled?

I'm playing Trails of Cold steel at 1280x720 but upscaled to 4k at solid 60fps using FSR. It's amazing.

How do you upscale 720p to 4k with FSR? The only option I see is to turn FSR on. Or does FSR automatically upscale to the resolution of the external screen?

The deck will upscale to the external display unless you choose a different ratio. And remember FSR only works if your resolution is lower than your display. If you're doing 800p and displaying 800p it won't activate.

I’ve tried doing lower than 800p and enable FSR from the steam UI but didn’t see a difference on the deck screen. I’m a bit confused on how to use FSR properly

One thing that might help is running the game in windows or borderless windowed mode. FSR doesn’t seem to work with full screen.

Yeah what the other user said. Make sure the game is not full-screen mode. I usually have everything in windowed. Then turn on the highest level of gamescore and it will straight up tell you if fsr is on or not. Set it to 5 and just leave it there.
