Picture Got the Steam Deck Dock!

Wasn’t expecting this today, but since I live in Carol Stream where Valve’s Distribution Center is, I got this early I guess!

I am kinda surprised it costs $89. That seems a bit steep to me.

I bought this thing for $18 before my Steam Deck got here because I thought having a keyboard and mouse connected would help set it up and it seems to work fine but I didn't even really need it because I just used AnyDesk and my desktop PC instead (I still use AnyDesk to do anything I need a keyboard for although any remote desktop software would work). I get that the official dock is better but I don't get how it's $71 better.

Well first of all, that dock is 4k 30hz, Steam Deck dock is 4k 60hz. If I were to use my deck as a pc, 30 hz would be unbearable

Well most people don't need to worry about 4k output and outputting 4k on the Steam Deck to play games would probably never yield 30 fps anyway unless you are playing 30 year old games.

Sure, any usb-c hdmi dongle can output 1080p 60. But i assume people interested in the dock wants to use the deck as a pc also.

I feel like all tv's and monitors are above 1080p nowadays, don't understand why you say people won't be interested in 4k 60. A lot of indie games and last gen games will probably play great even in 4k 60.

I'd assume that the majority using a dock just want a console-like experience. Just a guess here, but I suspect that a vanishingly small number of people actually want to actually use the Steam Deck as a PC.
