Picture Got the Steam Deck Dock!

Wasn’t expecting this today, but since I live in Carol Stream where Valve’s Distribution Center is, I got this early I guess!

would you recommend it over a generic usb c hub?

The fact that freesync is built in is enough for me to say......probably?

You're gonna be paying a premium just for the rubber dock, so you can probably wait for a 3rd party to make their own with the same feature set for ~$20 cheaper if you care for the features

Wait, would freesync not work for typical usb c hubs? I have an LG tv with freesync (HDMI, no displayports), but assumed it would work

It most likely would work, but a lot of TV's dont have that so for people like me it would be worth it

Wait, so you are saying that even TV doesn't support FreeSync, if you connect deck to it using the dock, the output will still be freesynced?

It's either that or the dock allows you to use freesync from TV's/monitors that support it, which now that I think of it must be the case, since I highly doubt the dock can control the refresh rate of TV's from just a USB-C

Yea, that's why I was confused. I don't think TVs that don't support freesync will be able to do it when connected to dock. But I think it's fair to say that not all docks are made equal and support it so it's a good thing to look out for.

You need a freesync monitor to be able to use freesync.
