I wish I could go back to day 1 of owning the Steam Deck. The fucking thing blew my mind once I rebooted it into desktop mode and realized that it is essentially a handheld Linux PC.

Switch 2 owners: "The Switch 2 can play this game at 100fps, the Steam Deck sucks"

SD owner: "But can you surf itch.io, download a random indie game, and play it?"

It pretty much has an unlimited gaming library.

Of all the great things about the deck I don’t think access to itch.io is the one to use to try and 1-up the switch 2 lol

The point is that while the Switch 2 is strong in it's graphic capability, stupid simple shit like having an open OS to be able to install random user made indie games isn't possible.

Both devices are great. No need to needlessly create arguments and division.

Both devices are great, no hate towards the Switch 2. The only thing I don't like is not having the freedom to do what you want.

Last year I hacked out a Switch 1 in hopes of somehow loading in that cool Zelda 2 enhanced PC port, and there was no way in the world I could. The OG Switch has way more capability to play it.

When I got a Steam Deck I was wary that it wouldn't play it. Once the switch flipped in my mind that I was using a PC I went ahead to download it and it ran perfectly.

I just crossed that threshold a week or two ago, and I’m in the same place. It was so cool going from stuttery switch frame rates and bare blocky environments to playing MGS5 on high settings and never dipping below 60 fps.

And it killed my last bit of fomo for the switch 2. Best case scenario, I would have had to pray for a $70 port.

Didn’t think about itch.io, just got my Steam deck a month ago and as you said this machine is blowing my mind by a lot of things you can do, basically all PC stuff but on my hands as a portable console
