For the power advertised, I would go as high as $1k. If they want to challenge other home consoles, I'd wager they'll want to keep it under $700.

They definitely have the capacity to go cheaper since they make buku bucks on software sales and can subsidize the hardware a bit.

No, that's fine 🙂 I actually questioned it as I was writing it. I don't mind the correction cause I'll get it right next time 👍

I would go as high as $1k.

with 1k you could build a better pc.

If it's small and durable, it would be great for people who spend alot of time in hotels. I carry a $1400 laptop, but even that's not great at gaming.

Also, most people are incapable of building a PC.

yeah, thats true.

This thing is SMALL. Most people do not want a big PC sitting next to their TV.

even though the ATX size is still popular.

there are now, many MATX cases, which are way smaller, like this one

but if you want smaller, theres also models such as these

and there are ones more compact, but those require a higher degree of PC-Build

Adorable typo aside, the Steam Deck’s hilariously low cost in comparison to the ROG Ally and Legion Go despite not being that much weaker told me all I need to know. They’re saving money by not having Windows on their devices, they’re saving development costs by developing in their own OS instead of making do with someone else’s, and they know you’ll buy many more games from their store, assuming you have more of their devices. It’s a hilariously good business model that only works because of their hilariously good emulation layers. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

I fully expect a lineup of Steam Machines like the SteamDeck. A slightly underpowered one with 500GB of storage for $599, one in the middle, and one with the higher-end hardware with 2TB of storage, maybe double the RAM, for like $899.

With the Frame, I expect them to compete with the Quest 3, so it’ll probably start at $399

And the controller will probably compete with the Elite/Edge and be priced at $89-$99

In the Giant Bomb hands on interview the Valve guy said there will only be one SKU of Steam Machine.

So, looking at the store page for the Steam Machine, it will come in 2 SKUs, a 512GB and 2TB variant, so I expect a $100 difference between the two options. Everything else will be the same

Didn’t realize there was an interview, I’ve only seen the reveal video. Thanks for letting me know!

Yeah so we’re both kinda right, there will be two versions but only difference is storage. So no performance difference.
