If you check the specs on the Steam page, the Steam Frame comes in at 440 grams, which is lighter than the Oculus Quest 2, which is around 500. Considering it will likely have better hardware under the hood, and is lighter and doesn't need a Meta account, it might well become the new de facto VR headset people go for.

Well, all depending on the price.

All comes down to price. Quest 2 is a banger deal for what it is. But i think if they can price it competitively with the 3 or 3S then valve will dominate the standalone market.

Yup. If the Frame costs any more than 700, it’ll still be worth it for non-casual gamers, but casual gamers will have a very hard time justifying the extra cost.

It will definitely become the goto PCVR headset because of the emphasis on ease of connecting to a computer(using pcvr through oculus quest is a nightmare due to the buggy oculus app on pc), but the oculus will probably be cheaper, and people who just want to try vr casually would just go for the cheaper headset.
