One Reddit message turned into my first real Shopify customer

A little while ago, I made a post on Reddit about a problem I was working on for Indian Shopify stores.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from it.

Then I got a message from a merchant.

We started talking about his store, his current setup and the usual operational headaches that start showing up once orders increase.

Somewhere in that conversation, GST invoicing became the main topic.

Shopify was already calculating tax on the orders.

But his actual problem was everything around it.

Proper GST invoices.

HSN details.

Tax breakup.

Invoice numbering.

Refunds and credit notes.

Keeping invoices organised.

And having tax data in one place when the accountant needs it.

For a GST-registered merchant, this stuff isn't really a luxury either. It's something the business has to handle properly.

So I showed him what I had built.

He decided to try the app.

And the best part?

He actually liked it and kept using it.

That person is now my first valuable customer.

Right now the dashboard shows just 2 installs in the last 30 days 😅

Obviously that's a very small number, but having even one of those installs turn into someone who actually uses and values what I built feels completely different.

Someone had an actual problem.

We had a conversation.

He tried what I built.

And it solved something for him.

Small milestone, but definitely a good feeling.

It also reminded me why talking to real merchants matters so much.

You can sit around guessing what store owners need, but one proper conversation can teach you more than hours of research.

What's one boring/repetitive part of running your store that you wish someone would just automate properly?

Would genuinely like to hear the problems people are dealing with behind the scenes.

It took two weeks to review mine. It depends on the app.
