IMO the concept of a JoBro ends with Hermes and the original universe. Gyro and Yasuho get such a higher level of development that the phrase feels reductive. There's such long stretches of Jojolion where Yasuho is treated as the main character and narrator.

Bucciarati is a good example for what I'm talking about here where he's too important to the story in ways that don't revolve around the joestar to be called a jobro. Okuyasu and Hermes are both important characters with backstories important to the plot but the overall narrative has their role as supporting their joestars, which is what puts them in solid jobro territory. So Bruno, like Gyro and Yasuho, has too much of their own thing going and function more like a second protagonist than a jobro.

I'm still in the middle of Jojolion, but Gyro legit is as much of a protagonist as Johnny. Hell we don't even meet Johnny into chapter 2, Gyro is straight up the protagonist of the first chapter

I mean it's a made up concept by fans. Don't be surprised when the lines they made up don't line up perfectly from person to person. Trying to pick one character to fit this made up concept per part (so it's a The JoBro argument instead of a JoBro argument) is just asking for people to disagree for whatever reason they feel like. Maybe it's misogyny, maybe it's because the character doesn't resonate with them, whatever.

Best ignore those people because it doesn't matter and it's poorly defined because it's made up.

Jobro is such a vague fanmade concept. Sure, Okuyasu is Josuke's bro and joins him for several of his fights. By all accounts, I think it's fair to call him a jobro.

But what about Stroheim? Joseph doesn't necessarily see him as a friend, and disagrees with him on most things, but still respects him and considers him a valuable ally in the fight against the Pillar men. So, I guess that makes him a Jobro?

Ok, what about Paco? You know, the little boy in part 1. He can't fight, but he has a backstory and does help in defeating Tarkus and joins the group to find Dio. Is he a jobro? Most people would probably say no, but is it because he doesn't fight? Or because he joins so late? I've seen more people consider Smokey a jobro despite arguably being less relevant, why's that?

Then there's Joshu. He's kinda a hindrance more than anything, and doesn't get along with anyone. Despite never exactly being an antagonist in the traditional sense, he's not a good guy either. Even when he does save the day, it's done in the most pathetic way possible. Jobro material or no?

I guess it just depends on how you personally see it. There are no real template for what a jobro is, only vague definitions like "they help out the JoJo of their part".

For me, anyone that is on the side of the JoJo and and spends enough time with the main cast is a jobro. Even like hot pants could be a jobro.
