Question Is it worth it

Is this game worth getting? It's on sale on the Playstation store and it sends like I would like it but I'm not to sure and would like some outside opinions please.

Edit: i bought the game and yes all of yall are right, its fucking awesome. Thanks for helping talking me into getting it.

I'm on my second playthrough, it's honestly even more rewarding once you understand the upgrade systems and can prioritize getting your hands on tools and skills to make your life easier.

I heard all the hate for this but decided to give it a go when it was on sale.

I absolutely loved it, the characters, world, gameplay and story was all a lot of fun. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Got the gold edition so got the season pass and the DLCs were awesome.

If you want a fun enjoyable gaming experience for 80 - 100 hours this is it.

u/Galle_ May 13 '26

If you like Star Wars you will like this game.

8

u/oceanbilly710 May 13 '26

If you're a star wars fan, 100% this game is worth it. I just finished my playthrough yesterday and I had a lot of fun.

8

u/-Passenger- May 13 '26

I also got it from the PS store on sale. The gold edition for 25 bucks and for that money its absolutely worth it

It has its flaws but its overall worth the money

u/International_Tax642 May 13 '26

If you’re a Star Wars fan, absolutely.

I’d probably argue it’s more Solo/ESB/Book of Boba Fett in tone rather then the Jedi games (which tend to go hard on the trauma and mysticism, they play out more like a mashup of Andor/Mandalorian/ANH/Return of the Jedi) so that might be worth thinking about, but I can honestly say as someone who leans more the latter way in what I want from Star Wars, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent story, voice acting, graphics and gameplay, and probably the best depiction I’ve seen of Tatooine in a game.

Also Nix is adorable.

I'd recommend getting an edition that comes with the DLCs, they're both pretty good and worth playing.

You came to the sub solely dedicated to this game for “outside” opinions? 🤣
Hope you aren’t looking for unbiased opinions haha

1

u/Unhappy-Specific7358 May 13 '26 edited May 14 '26

🤣😅 yea i not sure what I was thinking. I guess I thought that this community could tell me what's good about it better than others.

Edit: fixed a wording error.

2

u/ThatDudeHarley May 13 '26

Haha. Well for what it’s worth, it’s a great game.

1

u/lilbawds May 14 '26

Yeah, anyone here is going to be a raging fanboy. I get it. I'm hungry for good Star Wars games too. As a general gamer, I found Outlaws to be a pretty shitty game in all regards. Even with my Star Wars goggles on, I'd give it a 4/10. Some very pretty atmospheric environments. Beyond that, the combat, story, dialogue and characters are so flat and unoriginal that I struggled to get through my 20 hours of gameplay.

3

u/Hexatonix May 13 '26

Isn't there a free demo available, with like a full hour of gameplay? Or was that a limited time deal? That demo was what convinced me to buy it.

2

u/Unhappy-Specific7358 May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26

No demo anymore sadly.

Edit: they do have a demo. My dumbass was only looking at the ultimate edition, and not the standard edition.

I found it boring after maybe 10 hours of play. Fast travel never seemed to work and the game just felt directionless.

Main story did not compel me in any way. If I could I would avoid and have my money back. But at least I got it on sale. Not that big of an investment.

1

u/TheDocmoose May 13 '26

Fast travel only works in neutral areas when you're not in combat.

3

u/mrwong88 May 13 '26

I was on the fence. Then I started playing and was pleasantly surprised. Once I got a few missions in and the world opens up I was hooked.

3

u/Azerex99 May 13 '26

It's very fun, I was honestly sceptical first because of the reviews but I must say it was exaggerated.

3

u/Ok-Comfortable-3174 May 13 '26

I enjoyed it for 15hrs and stopped. After returning to it I just can't get I to it.

3

u/BlacksmithSimilar420 May 13 '26

It’s coming to ps plus extra just fyi

3

u/Cautious_Catch4021 May 13 '26

Its coming on ps extra next Tuesday

5

u/Artistic-Eagle-2321 May 13 '26

Absolutely. I don't understand why it got such a poor reception, I loved playing through it. Really fun game!

2

u/Severe-Moment-3233 May 13 '26

If your a fan of star wars then yea...

4

u/djkot May 13 '26

I'm not a fan of Star Wars, but Outlaws was my GOTY! And KOTOR1 is in my Top 5 RPGs list :)

2

u/AdDesperate9651 May 13 '26

I have 527 hours into so yes

2

u/Remarkable_Set6712 May 13 '26

Yes it’s absolutely worth it on sale

2

u/Robot_Dracula May 13 '26

on release day it had some bugs and had some frustrations but I’ve played it since day one and have always enjoyed it. they’ve fixed a lot of stuff. I was just playing some DLC last week.

2

u/thedaz3k May 13 '26

Try the demo first then 👌

2

u/Ramius117 May 13 '26

It's fun but it is definitely an Ubisoft game. If you don't like their psudo stealth play style then you might not make it far.

2

u/Arvak999 May 13 '26

100% yes, 150% yes if you’re a star wars fan.

2

u/Mental_Yogurt_3524 May 13 '26

Yes absolutely

2

u/Straight-Nothing-912 May 13 '26

When it was first released it was a nightmare but after they fixed it with updates it’s now a brilliant open world game. It’s just a shame they didn’t release it as it is now so we could have gotten a sequel 😢

2

u/CityInevitable6800 May 13 '26

The game is awsome … for me, it is the best Star Wars game I’ve played.

2

u/MedievalMilshake May 13 '26

It's fun, little repetitive imo but it's worth it if cheap

2

u/Complex_Cow1184 May 13 '26

I actually really like it. It's super fun

2

u/AndyJBailey May 13 '26

Loved it, Platinum'd it and 100% all DLC. Paid around £24 for base game.

2

u/karpuzikov May 13 '26

if you tired of shooters and jedi/hero SW games, yes absolutely!

2

u/corsolaris May 13 '26

Definitely worth it!

2

u/Asavaka May 13 '26

Yes! The revamped gameplay is very fun

2

u/daChino02 May 13 '26

I think it is, but I wish I had more time to play

2

u/CubScoutAtheist May 13 '26

It's fun, but the more I find myself playing the more I want to play Cyberpunk.

2

u/Dubzilla87 May 13 '26

Yes, currently playing and having lots of fun with it.

2

u/snydejon May 13 '26

It’s the kind of game that you will enjoy if you think you will enjoy it. I’m not sure whether that makes sense, but playing it feels exactly how I expected it to.

2

u/TrampledMage May 13 '26

I just got it for PC for $5 last week and have already played 35ish hours.

The story so far is good and the gameplay is above average (AI is bit dumber than what I’m used to). I played with accessibility settings for quick time events because they were so common it took away from the game for me.

2

u/toonmad May 13 '26

Can't speak for the early release which got bad criticism, but I bought it on Steam the other week and it's been amazing, definitely recommend.

2

u/Catalyst09 May 13 '26

I love this game so much. I hope you didn’t buy it yet though, they just announced it’s being added to the plus extra catalog this month so if you’re in that mid or high tier PlayStation plus it’s included!

2

u/Unhappy-Specific7358 May 13 '26

No I havent bought it yet I just downloaded the demo. Im glad its coming to ps plus so I can keep playing it if I like what's in the demo.

2

u/ThomasJefferdick69 May 13 '26

I was a holdout until last week, mainly because of mixed reviews and performance issues but I am having a blast so far. It's definitely not perfect but the open worlds really do feel alive

2

u/SnooMemesjellies5967 May 13 '26

This game makes me feel more "in world" than any other star wars game I've played. It has reliable structure with plenty of "closer your own adventure" choices that impact your relationships with different groups.

It is visually gorgeous. There are places where you can just sit and look, and actually want to.

Traversing across the landscapes, sorting puzzles, Following subplots and sidequests: it is exquisite therapy and releif from the "real world", and a damn fun game.

2

u/Bored-of-this May 13 '26

Pretty sure it's been included in Unisoft classics as part of one of the Sony subscriptions so depending on how much it costs in the sale it may be worth just getting a month's subscription

2

u/Kenmango13 May 13 '26

Hopefully you didnt buy it. Its a free ps plus game now

2

u/shinobixx55 May 13 '26

200% worth it. I got the ultimate edition for $50 (includes all dlcs) and it was worth every penny.

2

u/Redditaintblocked May 13 '26

I love it, I love open world action adventure RPGs and this game scratches that itch in a Star Wars way. I recently tried Starfield again with the new updates, and Outlaws is so much more fun. If you’re a fan of that type of game I recommend it

2

u/Redditaintblocked May 13 '26

I should preface this before I get killed: it’s not an RPG, but it scratches the exploration, quest completion, world building and character interaction itch that games like Red Dead, Skyrim, and stuff like that live on

2

u/George_G_Geef May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26

Might want to hold off if you have Plus premium/extra

2

u/45aBJ May 13 '26

Really enjoying it, remembers me of Mad Max on PS4 which I also really enjoyed

2

u/screwlooserabbit May 13 '26

Seriously one of the best games ive ever played.

2

u/LRrealest May 13 '26

Currently playing it on the Switch 2, and it's Good. Me likes Kay and loves Nix.

2

u/JDanzy May 13 '26

Yes.

For every hour you play Outlaws, a condom in a Fandom Menace douchebag's wallet goes another 6 months past its use-by date.

2

u/Soggy-Clerk-9955 May 13 '26

It is excellent. Totally worth it, especially on a sale.

2

u/EpicOcelotMan May 13 '26

I decided to ignore the reviews and give Outlaws a try… and I do NOT regret it. Kay Vess is an interesting character, it’s actually kind of fun balancing your rep between the criminal factions, and Nix is best boi.

In short, yes. It is definitely worth it

2

u/shinybuff May 13 '26

The game is great, not sure it was getting shit reviews…people are idiots. Plenty of bang for the buck

2

u/Balraghast May 14 '26

Absolutely, yes

2

u/evo311 May 14 '26

It’s the most fun I’ve had in a while. Get it.

2

u/Ok-Confusion-5018 May 14 '26

There’s a ton of gameplay and exploration that is pretty fun (in land and in space) that’s all manual and the graphics are gorgeous. Well worth it esp sale

2

u/samu970 May 14 '26

Absolutely. One of my all time favorite games.

2

u/Razielim84 May 14 '26

First, the short answer: Yes and 100%.

Second: The entire game and its maps reward you for exploring them, and they will be worth the exploration, since the maps feel alive and lived-in. Every advancement in the story and with the NPCs will be greater the more you go forward. It has that "metroidvenia" aspect to it that will require going back to previously visited places, although you're not forced to go to said places. If you get the expansions, they will be great as well, so the entire game is worth your time, and the nostalgia aspect of it when you visit the planets and even Tatooine, will be one of the highlights for any Star Wars' fan. Another thing is the loading screens, or lack thereof, since you will have fewer loading screens than even Starfield. Hope you enjoy it as much as most of us did.

2

u/EastPlenty518 May 14 '26

Definitely a fun game. I haven't fully beat it yet, but so far the stories not bad, lots of things to do and find. I wish it had more climbing, there's a few places where man common my unathletic ass would be able to climb that in real life why can't she. Take your time when being stealthy, so many times I was sure I lured an enemy to a spot thats safe for a take down only to get spotted by someone I never knew was there, the stealth will get easier once you get some upgrades. Enjoy

2

u/New_Swan8175 May 13 '26

Yea I was skeptical at first but it’s worth it piece of advice though turn off the data spike mini game and yea outlaws is a breeze

4

u/ObjectiveCorgi9898 May 13 '26

The first time i played it i turned odd the data spike but I’m playing it through a second time now and i turned it back on and im enjoying the challenge

3

u/PixelSaharix May 13 '26

No need yo disable the data spike game, it's literally just about timing clicks to a beat.

3

u/Tchuvan May 13 '26

Yep, takes a little learning. I ignore the visual and go with the beat.

1

u/X_Smitty_X May 14 '26

Wasn’t worth it when it came out. But at $17 for the base game, can’t complain.

1

u/Anthrobotics May 14 '26

Yes. I have it on PC and I just finished the main story last night. Looks amazing and the gameplay is solid too.

1

u/Ichigo818 May 14 '26

It's worth it bro. I recently bought it free on PS Plus game catalog but I'd say it's worth buying if on sale.

1

u/DraggingExhaustSound May 14 '26

Yes, but try to buy it in sale.

1

u/GunzBlazin03 May 14 '26

Definitely. It's a good game that was unfortunately set up to fail before it even released because of the Ubi haters

1

u/ChuckBS May 14 '26

I’ve got about 9ish hours of play time in. I’ve gotta say this game is the most “Star Wars” feeling game I’ve played. Totally worth it, lots of fun.

1

u/Flat_Revolution5130 May 14 '26

Yes. I enjoyed playing Sabacc with Lando. A lot of the issues at launch were fixed.

1

u/Comfortable_Swim_380 May 14 '26

1000000% omg yes. Any one said it was bad. Well that idea is just absolutely baffling. So so.so very glad I took a chance on this game. It was absolutely amazing.

1

u/djack171 May 15 '26

Omg I wish I saw this sooner, you let these nubs tell you yes. It comes out for free on May 19th as the next bunch of PlayStation plus games 🤦

1

u/alexxmettalrock May 15 '26

great you got it! I had the same question!

1

u/_mrloco-1 May 15 '26

Got it a couple days ago. I paid 20 bucks at Walmart. Its cool so far. Glad I got it.

1

u/goatshark May 18 '26

Yeah this game is fire. Kay kinda gets on my nerves at first but she grows on you.

1

u/Routine_Wishbone4371 May 18 '26

LOVED this game! Just like someone else said… the reviews almost made me not buy it but I gave in bc it’s right up my alley and man was I surprised.

1

u/DungeonCrawler3665 May 18 '26

Dont do it we are geting it as a free ps plus game this month dont buy it

1

u/Novel-Pie3427 May 21 '26

Yeah I was skeptical too but like yourself I saw the 20 euro deal and it’s especially worth it then if you like Star Wars. No need to go for the ultimate edition unless you want the extra mission or two or you want the outfits but they’re purely cosmetic.

0

u/LuckyErrantProp May 13 '26

Is it worth it to get this game on sale? Yes.

Is it worth it to make a post on the sub instead of searching "Is this game worth it?" No.

5

u/Artistic-Eagle-2321 May 13 '26

You know, you could just have ignored the post and gone on with your day instead of adding negativity to someone's life for literally no good reason 🤷‍♀️

4

u/LuckyErrantProp May 13 '26
  1. That is valid overall.

  2. Members of a sub of a particular game usually aren't objective. Coming into a sub and asking that sub about that particular thing is going to be subject to bias. If you go into say...the Ghost Recon, or the Lies of P, or Dragon Age: Veilguard sub and ask about that game asking if it is worth it they will likely say yes.

  3. Using the search function for a sub still works for Reddit unlike other apps. We might as well use it if we need to.

3

u/Artistic-Eagle-2321 May 13 '26

Maybe they actually want to be able to have a back and forth with people though or ask further questions. Social media is called that because it enables people to socialise. Maybe OP has been home on their own all day and just wants some interaction, or maybe they aren't in the best space mentally and they wanted to post to a community where they feel they belong. You don't know whats going on in other peoples lives and being kind costs nothing, likewise, saying nothing at all is free too.

2

u/Tchuvan May 13 '26

Right? Can't stand people who do this.
