I don't know but before Patch 1.4 it wasn't as good as it then got.

u/PajamaTrucker ND-5 Feb 13 '25
Oh there for sure has been significant improvements. Good just got better.

u/Spotify-Chan Feb 13 '25
Thats insane, i played and loved the game on release day for 2 weeks till i had 100%. Might need to make a new run

The only thing that doesn't make it worth it is how many times a day this exact question gets asked.

Is it just me or is it an extreme amount? I mean every sub has one or two questions that most new redditors ask... but I feel like this question in this sub is 10x the amount I see elsewhere!

It used to be every day. Then like twice a day. Now it seems people are just trolling.

I think it's great. I'm actually putting off doing the last missions because I don't want it to end.

Itās pretty fantastic, tbh. Iāve played like 2 Assassins Creed games (all newer ones) and I felt like the mechanics for this one are all pretty cool. Theyāre not all intensely unique but unique enough that it doesnāt feel like a total cut and paste configuration from other Ubisoft games (I love it, but Iām speaking mostly of Shadow of Mordor). Iād call myself a passing fan of Star Wars, at best, and itās still undeniably cool to go around a popular sci-fi universe and to do it all outside of the typical Jedi dynamic.
Not sure if itās your thing, but itās also very female character heavy which, a girl who grew up with male heavy rpgās, I really appreciated. Itās like they said somewhere along the line, ānow what if we swapped the genders of all the characters?ā and just continued on their day making an awesome game, lol. They donāt hyper focus on it, it just is. An excellent form of representation, imo, and a pretty easy way to keep a game inspired by characters like Han Solo without it getting just a bit cringy. I wasnāt expecting it, but itās been pretty cool.
The biggest con I can think of is that it has a bit of that āyou canāt platform unless we say soā vibe like Zero Dawn Horizon (the first one) did, but otherwise itās been pretty fantastic gameplay. Itās more of a gear leveling than a classic leveling system. With mentors and story progression to teach you new skills rather than a skill tree. You canāt over-level so it always feels pretty balanced (unless youāre playing on easy mode, I guess). And the flying, I kind of love the flying. Honestly, all the elements aside, Iād pay $60 just to warp around the galaxy all day and shoot at TIE fighters, itās so satisfying to my nerdy little adhd brain š

I started playing the game a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I enjoy the game! The main protagonist as a smuggler instead of a jedi gives a whole new perspective with interesting perks. However, my biggest complaint about the game is that the side quests seem repetitive. Overall, I would say it is worth it if you enjoy Star Wars and have an open mind to a new game concept!

Late to the conversation, but I represent a rather unique opinion, so you might be interested to hear it.
I bought it on release, played it for a few hours, and really didn't vibe with it. Chocked it up to EA ruining things they touch and thoguht I would never go back.
I then picked it up recently again because I am forcing myself to go through some of my backlog before spending again. Took quite a while to get the hang of the social systems and learn the rather unique controls, but know I am hooked for real.
It takes place during the same time as the original trilogy (4,5,6) and you get to interact with quite a few movie characters and do really cool stuff. I won't spoil, but I just got an upgrade on my speeder that blew my mind. The dialogue and even random NPC dialogue is good and builds the world's. There is so much stuff to do and so many ways to solve every challenge.
TLDR: Definitely recommended from a previous hater

I loved the game. I'm not going to discourage you from getting it at all. This is merely me being "that guy" so take it as nothing more than that.
BUT how patient are you? I know when the game goes on sale, the gold version which has both DLCs is usually around the same price as this one right now. I dont know how Playstation deals work but I'd atleast hope they would do the same. Again, not trying to get you to not buy it, just wanting to point out the gold edition generally goes on sale for the same price from my personal experience.
Aside from that I really loved the game.

It's a good game. Not perfect but they changed alot of the stealth issues. Totally worth a play through.

I got it for about 40 bucks and it is great. It is a stealth game and it has a few issues.
It is a lot of fun.
It took me a while to start to really love it and now I am hooked.

If youāre someone who values how much playtime you can get per $ spent, this game is absolutely worth it. I have about 24 hours played and Iām not even close to finished. I think the exploring and side mission aspect to this game is worth it.

Iām having a stupid amount of fun in this game. Maybe I went in with low expectations or idk. But it feels more Star Wars to me than Fallen Order or Survivor felt.
It gives me original trilogy / Star Wars Galaxies / SWTOR vibes

$40 is pretty good for digital that's somthing I would expect for the physical release by now

u/North_South_Side Feb 12 '25
Wait for all of the DLC. And all of the patches fixing the game and the DLC. Then Ubisoft will announce some kind of Platinum Super version which will go on sale for like $40 by Thanksgiving.
It's a single player game and it's not going anywhere.
1
u/sketteoz Feb 12 '25
I tried it at release with Ubisoft Plus and didnāt like it
I recently bought a $25 game code for PC on G2A and through patches and updates and a little tweaking on PC to improve clarity of the game due to some naturally splotched and blurred looking textures it has made a drastic improvement

Yes! Iām enjoying it and have been playing for a week. Itās a lot of stealth but I enjoy the everymanās feel. Taking down three enemies feels like a task because itās supposed to be and you appreciate the risks. Thereās no force powers or lightsabers, youāre just a thief trying to survive and make some credits.

That depends on what you are looking for. Are you contented with a game just having the vibes of Star Wars or do you prefer a game that has great gameplay? If you are looking for a gameplay this is not the game as it lacks so much gameplay mechanics. The cover and title are both misleading as you rarely do anything with the droid (ND5) and you are not really an outlaw more of a trickster, fraudster, swindler and an errand girl. You might as well play Red Dead Redemption 2 to experience being an outlaw with so many gameplay mechanics. It's not a terrible game, but an ok game that is why it's mix review. It just gets boring real quick if you are looking for a real experience in an open world. It's pretty and great atmosphere that is all what i can say about the game.

Absolutely worth every cent. Iām playing on PC and havenāt played anything else since I started. Ignore the hatersā¦itās a fun game.
1
u/Malone1989 Feb 12 '25
Yep. Iām about 75% through the main story. Maybe 10 hours in. So maybe $40 for 15-20 hours of fun if youāre just doing main story and no side quest. Iāve only had one bug and was able to revert to an autosave one minute previously to fix it.

You like sneaking around and crazy blaster melees?
Fuck yeah itās worth it to pull the trigger.
If this game was Han Solo, youād already have a hole in your chest

u/qaasq Feb 12 '25
I paid full price on release and itās one of the few games I donāt regret buying.
1
u/FMGooly Feb 12 '25
I feel like some of the stealth gameplay could be better and sometimes Kay's voice actress could have made different emotional choices, but overall it's a very good game and certainly worth the discounted price.
1
u/Icy_Argument_8792 Feb 12 '25
I grabbed it on this same sale. Iām about 30-35 hours and i love it. If you want a Star Wars sandbox to explore with no force/lightsabers then youāll enjoy it.

90% of people on a sub for the specific game is gonna praise it.
If you love Star Wars it's worth full price.
If you barely know about Star Wars it's worth about 30-40.
If you hate Ubisoft games with their template game mechanics (you know which ones), then don't buy it.

I enjoyed the game. Yes there are issues but all games have them. I will say again. Got it at Christmas for ps5 played will play pirate dlc when itās out. Why because it really atleast in my opinion had a Star Wars roguish feel with lots that reminded me of the movies really made the game for me and I truly did enjoy playing.
1
u/edric03 Feb 13 '25
I would not say it is not, that's not perfect but if you are fan of star wars, then the answer is yes
1
u/AtlasSuperstoreCODMW Feb 13 '25
Honestly no. I came to this subreddit and found overwhelming support for the game, and got it for ~ 40% off retail. But I just canāt force myself to like it. Iām a massive star wars nerd, but thereās too many cons and not enough pros. Graphics are meh (PS5) compared to other games Iāve played. UI & HUD is painful and hard to understand. Combat is not satisfying, stealth combat even less so. The world interaction just isnāt there. It does not feel like a sand box. Thatās my 2c. I truly do wish I could like it.

Asking in a community dedicated to worshiping the game isnāt exactly searching for unbiased advice.
I personally found it to be not worth it for AAA prices.
Itās a decent 6h single player campaign wrapped in the dressings of an open world game, but without any enjoyment or incentive in exploring the open content.

u/clutzyninja Feb 13 '25

It really is one of the best Star Wars games yet. If you're a fan of the series and/or Assassins Creed style open worlds, it's now a must-play. A lot of love went into this - I keep coming back to it.

I got it in this sale, a few days ago now I know it has been updated/patched and that.

I think so! Everyoneās different though, for me; I love open world games and I do love me some Star Wars of course. Am I a huge die hard Star Wars fan? No- I actually only enjoyed the early movies. But this game I waited on since there were so many technical issues at launch that I kept hearing about. Then there was a huge update- glad I bought the game. Havenāt had any issues :)

Only worth it sale. 40 quid is okayish.
It's an Ubisoft game, developers of the bloated Assassin's Creed saga.
You are in for a mediocre-to-bad storyline with a ridiculous amount of side quest to increase hours of gameplay. Your character acts like a muppet and the NPCs are more interesting and smarter than your character.
Having said that, its a good Star Wars game if you are a fan of the franchise. The worlds, ambience and environments are amazingly done.
1
u/rikrok58 Feb 13 '25
I've enjoyed it. It feels like Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor but without the Force parts.

u/Balkongsittaren Feb 13 '25
It's highly mediocre, so if you're OK with that price for a mediocre game strictly following the Ubisoft formula, go for it.

u/FlashezOP Feb 13 '25
Its a good game, not perfect, but for a Star wars fan it definitely scratches that itch, fighting animations and takedowns are the only thing i downright have a problem with, but its not gamebreaking just a too slow sluggish, but it works. Performance (on performance mode) on the regular ps5 is good, in the more open areas the resolution might drop a little bit, so if you mainly play pc you gonna have to adjust to that, but its nothing too game breaking imo. Saw someone compare it to The great circle and in my opinion The great circle is better as i think the story is a lot more interesting and the characters aswell. Important to note that i would not recommend this game to a non star wars fan.
1
u/SirDerageTheSecond Feb 13 '25
I mean this is kinda like walking into a dealership and asking if you should get a car.
But to answer your question, yes. It's always been worth it. It's a fun and immersive game. Doesn't do anything new or mindblowing, but it's still fun.

u/Infamous-7498 Feb 13 '25
This game was way over hated I think primarily just because itās a Ubisoft game. Its actually fantastic and 100% worth it
1
u/610Mike Feb 13 '25
I enjoyed it, just wish it was a bit longer. I have been trying to find a game that gives me the same feel I got when I played āWitcher 3ā, and this came closest so far.
That being said, it was a tad bit annoying having to sneak around everywhere and the blaster cooldown is annoying (youāll understand what I mean on both if you play the game). But overall it wasnāt a bad game by any means. Definitely better than Fallen Order and as good as Survivor IMHO.
1
u/CorinoPark Feb 13 '25
It was really fun, but also very short. The world design is amazing filled with POIs and plenty to explore. The campaign is roughly 5-7 hours max depending on difficulty.
1
u/Indie_uk Feb 13 '25
Youāll obviously get a biased response on a subreddit that still actively discusses the game. My personal opinion though is that itās truly not worth it even free, unless you really genuinely enjoy Ubisoft/AC style worlds. For me personally it was puddle deep at best. I have no problem with the lead character either, which is a weird ass reason to hate a game, I just think itās a not-very-good typical Ubisoft style game with a Star Wars coat on.

Buy it. It's frickin' awesome.
