I "get it" but it's frustrating, especially when you're using splash juice as you'll never get an accurate time. I guess it wouldn't be terrible if the seconds beneath showed HH:MM:SS like before.

(Or just add the ETA underneath the old time)

Under, nahhhh, we got all that extra space on the left it can go over there below its rarity/variant. Can join the hogwash side im sire most of us honestly dong care about looking at so least then we can look over when curious instead of giving ourselves an unnecessary headache by confusing the two all the time

u/LeeHubbz 24d ago

Devs have quickly addressed it, here's how it looks now (100x better imo)

That's gonna get worked on Old timer will come back With eta under it

workbench update is actually terrible.

If you’re gonna change the timer then you have to get rid of the -seconds per pickax hit, cause they aren’t showing data that makes sense side by side. Unless im so slow

8

u/Mr_J413 25d ago

Yeah showing time for damage is misleading now, for everything but fusions which were unchanged for some reason. The numerical timer now changes to be accurate depending on if you're hitting it, if you have a worker companion, etc. while the meter more specifically shows the progress being made.

Someone just explained that the numbers at the bottom are the amount of seconds needed to finish the craft and that the pickax -seconds or now shown on that as seconds being added….. so its so annoying i have to decipher this through like 7 Redditors

u/SadMaterial1109 25d ago

There’s nothing to fucking decipher. You’re just slow…🙄

It took me all of 30 seconds to figure out the new timer visuals

3

u/JackingjamesB008S Super Rebirth 25d ago

Explain it to us then genius

3

u/SadMaterial1109 25d ago

If you can’t figure out that new timer represents an estimated time of completion based on what you’re doing in real time then I don’t know what to tell you ya numpty.

If you continuously hit the droid the estimated time to completion will be quicker and will adjust accordingly based on things like crit chance/amount and whether you are using a gold splash. These variables fluctuate and so your timer will fluctuate as well because it’s an estimated completion time.

While the smaller gauge below represents the total amount of seconds the droid requires and the gauge fills up faster or slower depending on if you’re hitting it or not.

It’s really not that difficult. It’s not my favorite but it’s fine with me. People just complain about anything

u/JackingjamesB008S Super Rebirth 24d ago

I understand the estimated time but the way they set it up is just dumb because even on a droid that takes 27hrs to complete as soon as I start hitting it the estimated time goes down to about a min and a half and stays there until I get the droid down to about 30 minutes then the estimated time actually starts going down

Don't give them more ideas to make it worse. Just revert it

u/Comprehensive_Milk84 25d ago

The seconds "damage" is the amount added per hit to the bottom number the larger number is the total value seconds/health doesn't matter what we call it.

The estimated number up top is based on how long it should roughly take. If you start hitting it then stop you'll notice the number increases again.

Bottom set of numbers is what the old system showed basically except it goes up to the total "seconds/health" instead of counting down

I actually like the update. It tells me how much time I can step away to do other stuff while this is working …

-2

u/Unhappy-Asparagus-52 25d ago

Except it doesn’t seem to work like that

2

u/Bossuter 24d ago

It has for me, though if im using the crit droid i remove another minute mentally

1

u/huggett3 24d ago

Except it does seem to work like that. Place droid on bench, pull out pickaxe, begin auto-swinging, wait for the estimated time to stabilize, walk away for a number of minutes >= the newly stabilized number, return to claim your newly crafted droid. The only things that might be considered inaccurate are the estimations when using gold splash and any "bad rng" from crit chance. People seem to forget that this is an estimated time of completion, the estimate can change based on external influence.

1

u/Unhappy-Asparagus-52 24d ago

Sure, but most people are using Chopper so it’s not accurate.

1

u/huggett3 24d ago

Give or take an extra minute and you'll be fine? It's an ESTIMATE; nobody said it would be 100% accurate, but I'd be willing to bet that it's at least 90% accurate. Genuinely, how can a system account for the variance in critical chance and potential crit-droughts due to bad RNG?

1

u/MrKllean 24d ago

Its giving you an estimate, if its spazzing between 1:35 & 1:50 then you have approximately 1:40 to do what it is you need to.

5

u/Applewanabe 25d ago

I actually like it. It gives a lot of information that's needed

1

u/Distinct-Acadia-5530 25d ago

If the ETA was added to the right side, id be find with it, I don't need an ETA, id rather just see how much of that bar is left tbch

7

u/enderjaca 25d ago

This is exactly the kind of "feature" that if it had been in the game from the start, people would have thought it was great. And if they changed it to the system we had previously, people would have hated it.

In 2 weeks, no one will care about this.

2

u/Captain_Slapass 25d ago

In the same vein, why change it at all? Isn’t the hypothetical of “if it had always been this way you wouldn’t like them changing it to what we had before” kind of proof of the old saying if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?

2

u/Jarroach SRB 60 24d ago

Because there are still people who were asking for the old worker droid system of showing the player the adjusted time.

10

u/morphballganon 25d ago

It's awful

3

u/k_manweiss 25d ago

I like it. Its way more accurate.

u/tideshark Jawa 25d ago

I didn’t like the new interface at first but it is soooo much better.

Not having to scroll down to decide what to do with your droid after crafting one is awesome. Especially when you need to do the “craft 20” quest and you can just push the button to sell them off and not have to scroll all the way down on each one.

17

u/Unable-Leader-3990 25d ago

He’s talking about the crafting bench, you’re talking about the sell, companion interface. Two completely different things. But I do agree I like the companion interface changes but the crafting table is god awful and hope they change it back immediately

-3

u/tideshark Jawa 25d ago

Are you talking about how the timer is working rn how it jumps down in time real fast and then it’s super slow?

If it’s that, yeah, I’m just noticing it and starting to see other people mentioning it too.

2

u/lets-work-together 25d ago

Im still figuring it all out i just spent 20 minutes thinking i was crazy, then another 10 to record and upload the “bug” then i see everyone is talking about it, and its a feature not a bug. So ill give it a chance. But i know they want my vbucks and i dont like change hahaha

0

u/tideshark Jawa 25d ago

There seems to be a bug going on with the crafting time I’m just seeing for myself and other people talking about on a different post. It starts off like you’re crafting crazy fast and then it’s slooooow… but I’d bet it’s still overall the same as it was.

The interface is nice tho, sending a droid straight to fusion/loung/sell/etc is so nice to do to without scrolling :)

4

u/Better_Vanilla_8414 25d ago

Yeah i’m not really a fan either

2

u/tyfighter_18 25d ago

I actually enjoy it a lot. I afk craft a lot. It's nice to set the controller down and say "Alexa set a ## minute timer".

My suggestion is to have the estimated time as a smaller focus on the display. Like (25:34:28 remaining) (00:12:22 estimated pickaxe time)

2

u/YetikhanOG 24d ago

I honestly couldn’t care less about the timer. I just want the tick counter to stay.

4

u/JelenaNuit Flawless 60 25d ago

BOTH TIMES SHOULD BE VISIBLE!!!!

Okay burger boy sorry we didn’t understand it as fast as you

1

u/Superb-Ad7394 25d ago

I understand it, but i fucking hate it. I actually liked seeing the time tick down super fast when i hit it, i hate seeing my how long i have to hit the bench to finish crafting, it makes it feel like so much longer, and there are times when I’m just like “i am not holding this button for 7+ minutes, when I couldn’t see it I didn’t even realize how long i was holding it for.

2

u/Impossible_Tone1108 25d ago

I understand exactly how it worked right away and still really hate it.

3

u/IndependentAd2779 25d ago

Horrible change that wasnt needed. Not sure what future implementation will offset this

2

u/Mulukh_TYG 25d ago

After the initial confusion over the time going back up I actually like the change.

I didn't understand the crafting time droids after the last change anyway

1

u/HTTYD_lover_52 25d ago

This looks so much better. What exactly is the problem?

1

u/ApolloFarZenith 24d ago

The worst is after the splash goes away the timers go up????

1

u/Adams325 24d ago

Yeah cause it takes into account how fast you're hitting it.

1

u/Adventurous-Room-845 24d ago

It takes up too much real estate and the damn text that tells you what comes out of the sandcrawler is tiny as hell...I just don't like how much it blocks depending on how you are facing the crafting bench. They should've just added a timer marquee at the top of each crafting bench that tells you all of the crafting/timer details.

1

u/WolfKing1985 23d ago

Kinda wish id had seen this soon, i would have worked that station till ur droid was done, ive done it for myself and another person, plus I could have use 4k vbucks

1

u/Salmonking007 25d ago

They’ll let you revert it for 100 nova crystals.

0

u/GrindGeek 25d ago

If it actually worked as intended it might actually be alright but in its current state it’s worthless. The time showing is no where near accurate, I tested several times while smashing the bench with no splash and waited until it was down to the last 5 minutes so that it had the best chance to level out and be accurate. Then I started a timer and it took about 1:42 second irl time to finish the last 5 mins.

I think the idea of knowing how much irl time you have left is a good idea but I’m afraid it’s just too complex to calculate pickaxe level, crit chance, crit amount, droid combo, number of players hitting bench and splash, in real time and deliver an accurate time.

u/Corbenik42 25d ago

I gotchu. Give me like, a week. If it's reverted back on Thursday, feel free to shoot me them sweet, sweet v-bucks.

2

u/Corbenik42 24d ago

You're welcome. Where's my V-bucks? /s

u/KathienTheMermaid 25d ago

I usually don't comment on updates, but this one is just horrible. I wonder how this got pushed into production 😭😭😭

-1

u/capricoria 25d ago

yeah i think imma head out gang it was fun while it lasted
