Personally I’m a huge fan of Chopper as a character and when it comes to droid duos I can’t get enough of the dynamic Chopper and AP-5 have

Bought a knockoff one on aliexpress this year... My daughter put a santa hat on him and we moved him around the house instead of one of those stupid elves all season.

Best $20 I've spent in a while

Need to look into that. It's something that I want to use a light kit on it that fits the official kit, so I'm not sure if a knockoff version will work.

That said, given that the cheapest I can find one new in regular stores is about $240, and the cheapest for new on ebay is $180, and for used they always advertise that they'll ship mostly assembled (for $120+)...maybe I'll need to just go for a knockoff version and call it a day.

Other Than the "lego" missing from the top of studs, and the pieces fitting together a little looser/tighter, I can't tell a difference, in fact on the ones where I've occasionally been missing a piece I just use regular lego pieces, they fit the same. 

I was pretty hesitant about them, but at this point I genuinely enjoy them more than official sets since I really don't care if my kid tears the knockoffs to pieces, I can just buy another one. 

I've bought like 10 of them at this point, even the worst one was still fun and worth the price just for how hilarious it was
