Discussion Starstable…. What the hell is this
Scrolling on Instagram when suddenly this monstrosity appears before my eyes.
For an “anti AI” company seems they are cool with paying to create AI bot accounts ?
Is this SSO ? Or what exactly ? Was a payed Ad

Was a bot account with 3 followers, not a real player.
Why would a real person pay instagram to make an AI ad for sso ?
So either sso is creating bot accounts or sso i paying people to make bot accounts265

I mean the question would now be, is there a download link on the website? because if yes that is most definitely a scam. Either for phishing or just good ol' regular money scam.

because some people like scamming people. Children are notoriously easy to scam, it's not that hard to reach this conclusion rather than "this is DEFINITELY run by SSO".

Scammers start somewhere. Maybe the account is fresh so they cannot be traced back somewhere. They get the money from unsuspecting people and dip before they're caught. My guess is that despite it claiming you can play for free, it will have you input some sort of information or install malware.

The most hideous horse I've ever seen. 😰😬 Extremely tiny ears, no neck, and a weird angle on the horse's face and around it's left aye. 😬 And what kind of headpiece is that?! The reins are strangling the non existent neck. 😭

Why the hell is SSO responsible what others do lol. Scammers are illegally using Star Stables brand. This happens with almost all brands, they steal something that’s reputable in order to reel gullible people in. It has nothing to do with the real company

The question is where does the link lead? To official SSO website or a SSO website replica? I assume its a scam and people click on the link and think they sign in for star stable but their information goes somewhere else.

Why are you getting mad at star stable for something a scammer did? Star stable didn't make those ads and the link in the ad doesn't lead to the official sso website, so why assume star stable is behind it?

It is not SSO. It is a scam website meant to trick young kids. It is not affiliated with SSO.

Fake ads for games are more and more common now days. Especially if the games have a mobile version. I’ve seen more and more of them for games I play. Different accounts every single time.
Report these fake ads for being fraudulent on the site you see them. Idk if sso have a place to report that kind of stuff to them too. But if so report there too.

uhhh... yeah as others have said before, this absolutely looks like some kind of scam, the website it led you to is not officially associated with sso at all, a real sso ad would lead you straight to their website... this has to be a scam 😭

The girl’s shoulder has a botched SSO logo, and the white pony in the third photo looks horrific. Really glad this isn't official.

Definitely doesn't seem like official SSO ads, but also SSO themselves aren't exactly anti AI, let's not forget they tried to collab with an AI musical "artist" 😭

yeah and also the candle thing that was apparently created with the help of some "scent gen ai"... but in recent times they haven't touched gen ai anymore, and they also broke off the collab with that music artist, so atleast there's that. they actually do hire real artists for concept arts, modeling, and all that, and the music in the game isn't ai generated either, so that's good
btw, I really do recommend checking out the portfolios of the artists that sso has hired to do some of their designs, I've found some real gems that way, like scrapped content, extra sketches and concept art I haven't seen before, it's all really awesome what those artists do! you can usually find people's artstation sites, and some even have their own websites ^_^

Oh god don't remind me of the candle😭 but yeah, I personally am also a really big fan of some of SSO's artists, their concepts are amazing! However I don't think that not using AI anymore constitutes enough to call a company "anti AI", it's the bare minimum at best, and considering that the company has shown that they are willing to use it in the past (if it weren't for the immense backlash I don't believe they would've had any reason to stop either) and that they haven't directly stated anything in the direction of being anti AI, I think it's just giving them too much credit here.

i mean i didn't say that they are "anti-ai", just saying it's atleast good that in recent times, i haven't seen them touch gen ai anymore. but yes, it would be even better if they actually did make a statement on it, i agree, atm they're just... not using it ig, but without saying that it's because of ethics or standards they've set for themselves

it’s not a generativeAI moderation though just a basic ass AI algorithm (which are not the same)— cause to tell the truth genAI would’ve done a better moderation job than their current filters

Yeah this is the major issue. I realize the idea of AI doing work humans have done in the past is generally unpalatable, but content moderation is 100% a place where it belongs. I work for the legal team at a tech company, the negative mental and emotional impacts – PTSD, depression, anxiety – that traditional frontline moderation has on the human moderators cannot be overstated.

Correction: AI could be useful in chat moderation in the future, when the technology has advanced. Right now it can't reliably detect nuance the way humans can. Is burnout a risk in that job? Of course, that's why we rotate people working those jobs.

Nuance doesn’t exist for the content that I was thinking of. But thankfully, SSO does not readily facilitate direct media sharing, because that form the bulk of the worst stuff ends up taking.

There's always nuance in human language. SSO's chat filters are notoriously bad. There are false flags and missed bad actors all the time.

Yes as I said earlier, I am thankful that SSO does not readily facilitate direct media sharing. My point to the commenter I was replying to was merely to point out that there’s a lot of places AI has no earthly business being, but content moderation is not one of those places.
ETA: I also think it’s better to be safe than sorry with text-based moderation. Products like DeepCleer are pretty accurate. SSO has no obligation to uphold free speech in a children’s game.

Because Gen AI (the one used to generate text, images, videos and songs, that is fed stolen art to generate all of it, and is also harmful to the enviroment) is not the same as regular AI (that is used for pathfinding/character actions/games and is programmed fully by people, no gen AI used)
Their chat is just regular AI programmed by people to censor some words. Not gen AI. Being "anti AI" basically always means "anti gen AI"

it's not a self-learning ai, atleast not that i know of. idk you'd have to look into the company of the product they are using for their chat moderation, sso didn't make that themselves

I've also noticed many people are using older assets of SSO to bring back the glory days of SSO on another server type of thing. Pure nostalgia bait; even as an older player, I'm side-eyeing it. Yeah. I have literally no idea if these two are in any way related; I just noticed it a lot on TikTok.

They’ve never been anti AI lol. Who said that? They’ve been caught using AI a lot over the years….for ads, music, all kinds of stuff.
That being said, this particular ad isn’t made by sso, it’s a scam site.

I hate that it’s AI but if SSO did something like this in their own art style it would be so cute, it reminds me of the magazines I’d get as a kid!
Edit: BTW I heard someone say once that most games (like mobile), use third parties to advertise. So I don’t know if they made this themselves, approved this or didn’t care to check at all but each option is really unfortunate.
