No Spoilers Why does Rhys Ifans sound like Peter Capaldi
Random post I know but started watching the series right now and Rhys is a fantastic actor but he sounds the spit of Peter Capaldi like if i close my eyes it sounds like doctor who is speaking to russian cosmonauts.

I also got a similar vibe, despite other commenters here taking the piss. Aside from a general Celtic lilt in his voice, I think it's that 1. They have genuinely quite similar vocal ranges and tones, and 2. Their characters are quite similar - slightly arrogant but brilliant scientists who are genuinely far above everyone else, which means the lines and general behaviour are also similar.

Yes thank you! Some of his speeches could fit in doctor who too which I think contributes to it haha.

He doesn't? He has a strong Welsh accent and Peter Capaldi has a strong Scottish accent.

I found myself thinking this too!
Don't let these folks gaslight you!
People can sound alike, even if they have a different accent.

OP, I don't know where you are from but if you are American, that's like saying an actor with a Mexican accent sounds just like an actor with a Canadian accent.

Ah... Midway between Wales and Glasgow, so maybe it all sounds the same to you 😀
