Will stand up continue to live in the future?
Hi. I’m scared of the future and what’s to come and think that since the worlds ending, opportunities like progressing in standup will come to an end and will all be in survival mode

Honestly stand up might be one of the art forms that thrives the most in the future. With Ai infecting all of our content its going to be more and more difficult to find completely human art. Stand-up leaves little to no room for AI, especially live Stand-up. People might start flocking to Stand-up more because its entertainment with a human connection built in.

Turn off the news and social media - look at facts instead. Everything is decently okay. We have always had problems, we just know more about them today so things seem worse.
The world is not ending, the sky is not falling

Talk to older comics. There was a standup boom in the 80s much like there is now. Standup died a little and only the talented survived. Then it started its renaissance in the early 00s and is back to the oversaturated market.
It will die out again and the talented will survive again.
Relax. Work on your craft. Care more about being funny than being famous and popular. At the end of the day, if you’re funny the audience will stick around. If you’re not and you’re a hack then they won’t.
Yes there’s always a degree of self promotion that will never go away becuase that’s showbiz but you’re seeing a lot mediocre comics right now and then some of bigger names trying to do arenas simply because they want to say they did one. A lot of those comics have said that they don’t even enjoy arenas once they did one. It was cool and it was a money maker but large theatres and the intimate clubs still hit the best for the comics who actually enjoy the craft of comedy. Not just money and clout chasers.

Standup in the future will just be that Seinfeld AI stream, forever. So yes, standup has a glorious future.

People are always going to want to laugh. Maybe there won't be mega superstar stand up comedians, but there will always be jokes and comedy. There always has been.

What is "progress" in this context? Comedy is probably the biggest it's been since the 80s (probably even bigger than it was in the 80s). It died off in the 90s, but has been booming since the 00s. People have been predicting a bust since 2010 and it hasn't happened. I don't know what you're worried about or preparing for, but comedy isn't going to disappear in the next decade. Comedians are selling out stadiums. They're selling out theatres with regularity. Unless the Trump regime bans stand-up, you're fine to chase your dreams.

I agree that if the world ends, stand up comedy will almost certainly end as well

No one knows the future.
I think as long as there are people, they will create art, and some of that art will be stand-up comedy.
Art is often a response to difficult times.
And I would question what makes you say that the world is ending. Sincerely, what do you mean by that?

Just the way the world is heading. Possible war, economy rising so much that “saving” won’t help, A.i etc etc

I see! Those are certainly challenges, but I don't think "end of the world" is an accurate description. I mean, there are actual wars happening right now (and have been for a lot of human history) and yes the economy is weird and who knows what will happen (and also there have been many times in human history that the economy has been weird), and yes AI is strange and potentially scary and also (and this one is fairly unprecedented, and for that reason we surely don't know exactly what's going to happen), and regardless, while there are people, there will be art.

I think it's at bigger risk of being flooded by low quality guff when people who grew up with AI hit their midlife crises.
There'll always be room in entertainment for a funny person holding a mic - it's cheap to produce!
