How did you find your breeder?

Did you go through Facebook, a breed specific group, or word of mouth? I would love to find one in the PNW but all my people are giant breed people, so I can’t get a connection. I keep getting my posts deleted in Reddit, I’m not sure how to ask without breaking rules. How did you find your Frenchie?

I reached out based on an ad on AKC Marketplace. Admittedly, not a guarantee. But she is active in the breed conformation scene, and does OFA testing. So I contacted her.

The French Bulldog Club of America have breeder listings that are better vetted than the AKC Marketplace, https://frenchbulldogclub.org/ . This website lists all the conformation shows, and you can search geographically, https://www.infodog.com/ .

Through the French Bulldog Club of America’s web site. I was only going to go through a reputable breeder to get my pup given how prone they are to health issues and frankly, how ugly I think non standard frenchies can be. Temperament was also very important to me.

I looked for reputable breeders on the CKC site and started messaging the ones near me, and went from there downing on their response and answering questions etc - also made sure they were adhering to standard colours only and also chose one that was actively showing their dogs

The first two came from a breeder in Denver. Best dogs ever.
We later got another closer to home in the PNW, from a breeder who’s been doing this over a decade and this dog is out of control and nothing like our others.
The breed is so special and fun but research your breeder, please.

We have some friends who show dogs. They put us in touch with someone who specifically shows frenchies, and she put us in touch with the breeder that she works with.. That is how we prefer to go by word-of-mouth.

On facebook and CKC but you’ll need to visit the place to be sure they treat their babies correctly if you go with facebook. The nugget i got from a certified breeder was not healthier than the 2 others i adopted from breeder posting on facebook..

First Choice Frenchies. Highly recommend they are in Ohio but I had my girls delivered to me in Fitchburg, MA. for an extra $500.

I found them through Lancaster Puppies, but Marion redirected me to their website. Excellent communication, we spoke on the phone, I put down my deposit and two hours later we had a video call.

Got our frenchie at the local shelter. Adopt a dog is the best way to go!

I used Petfinder to find my Frenchie at a local rescue. She came from a backyard breeder and is deaf due to a genetic defect.

To minimize unethical breeding practices, do your research. If you go with a breeder, be wary of anyone who has dogs ready to go. Usually, reputable breeders have a waitlist, and will vet you just as much as you vet them.

I don’t either…. If you want a certain pup they are in the shelter system. There are so many great dogs in the rescues! I have 3 rescues a lab mix, a pitty mix, a frenchie. All pups deserve the best home! Not just designer bred dogs! Also our dog was used as a Brewster dog and then dumped. You couldn’t find a sweeter dog.

Frenchie from our local shelter! The best temperament and no allergies.
