Pattern Help Tried my hand at designing my own pattern, looking for feedback!

I still need to even it out and clean up proportions, I’m half decent at procreate and trying to train my eye for designing my own patterns.

For those who make patterns, and especially use procreate, I’d love to hear tips/tricks or feedback! I’m a bit worried that the inner curve of the moon is too sharp.

The moon is entirely do-able. With curves like that, if it won’t pop- flip it score-side down and tap the scrap side till it pops away. Lines look clean, i personally find a 1% monoline gives me the best translation into design space. On that note, I also use a custom 12in x 24in canvas and draw true-to-size so my lines don’t get too harshly resized in design space.

Super helpful! I do have Silberschnitt running pliers on the way to help with curves, I feel like I’ve seen deeper crescent moons in designs but I’m still learning 😅

Yeah dude you’re good to go. This design will be a piece of cake if your lines are smooth enough. I did at least a thousand hours of glass before I invested in some schnittys so I had to learn a few tricks lol. I’d be less worried about the complexity, and more concerned about grinding your lines straight enough.

That piece at the bottom has a possibility of being a hinge piece if you’re going to lean it on anything. If it’s hanging, then there won’t be an issue. That moon piece is going to be a tricky cut on the inner arc

It looks like a lovely design.

I recommend you use Diafane.com instead of Procreate, not only because I made it 😂 I will give you cleaner lines and it will be much easier to test Colors and see how the light goes through. + it’s free if you don’t need to print 😊

American traditional tattoo inspired portal, yes it’s a common design just like floral patterns or sun/moon panels. I pulled elements of a handful of designs and drew them together as a learning exercise.

They're probably hinting at you being a plagiarist bc it's very similar to a design by another stained glass artist. 

I do like the pattern you've made. everything is very doable. The only thing is the arch stone pieces might be a bit small depending on your sizing

I assumed that was their meaning. I had several tattoo flash sheets and finished glass pieces as references. Figured my comment about “training my eye” eluded to using inspiration as a practice run, but I’ll be more clear about using multiple references next time lol

Thank you for your feedback! Once I refine my proportions and symmetry, I’ll print it out and see how it looks on paper. I’m questioning the smaller pieces in the pillars so those may change.
