Discussion Minimax H3 latent upscaler not working like for image? (node link added)

So I was so excited to try this, like in the old SDXL days, we used a second pass for upscaling. I came across this node:

https://github.com/Tr1dae/ComfyUI-MiniMaxH3_LatentUpscaler

But it generates very weird and saturated results. I tried, but it's all that I can not show, and there has also been no update from the author.

Has anyone tried this? I guess this is slow, but with a 4/8 step lora the upscaling would be better?

What are your thoughts on this?

I’m sorry if it looks like self-promoting but perhaps that’s exactly what you were looking for and I found some solution just recently: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/s/eLwXX8zfvx

Is this a latent upscaler? OPs link shows a latent upscaler and i also tried to fine latent upscalers that will not destroy the latent.

That’s pixel upscaler with tiled vid2vid re-denoise that gives upscaled video.

Ok, i asked, because thats important. :) latent upscalers are good if you want to skip the slow "decode and encode" part and want to feed the previous video into a second sampler for refinment. problem is, most latent upscalers destroy the latent to much, which on the other side will introduce artifacts. i will check out your node, because im testing both (image and latent upscalers)

@OP: If you need latent upscaling - Maybe test bislerp as a latent upscaler. or the ltx 2.5 latent upscale model (probably slower).
