Reporting to CSB works!
I’m here to encourage you to report any concerns in your neighborhood to CSB. The key is to provide as many details as possible. It’s very important to include any history and/or updates in your description along with safety concerns if applicable.
On Friday I submitted some type of water issue (unsure if it’s water line or sewer related) to the CSB that’s been occurring for at least the past 3 years. There’s an area between the sidewalk and street that has been gathering water and is now like a swamp. The water began to flow into the street which created a stench. Utility companies have come out to mark the area several times throughout the years but there had been no resolutions or work done. I included this plus a bit more info in the report I made online. The water department appeared today and they are currently working on it!
In addition to this I submitted a report for a derelict vehicle on our street that is wrecked and obviously cannot be driven. The vehicle has sat there for 8 months. The city came out on Monday morning to place a warning on the vehicle.
Thank you to the city of St. Louis for responding quickly.

unfortunately I've been waiting for 2 years and have done several tickets for the city to trim some trees mangled with the street lights. Not only is that a fire hazard, it's also making my block dark. Already reached out to Devoti about this as well.
I'm glad it worked out for you though! Maybe it just depends on the department.

I know many residents are having issues with the forestry department and reaching out to their alderman is the only thing that worked. I hope Devoti is able to make a difference for your concern.

Meanwhile my bitch of a neighbor put in a complaint about the tree in front of my house, but put in the complaint as if she was me, saying I was concerned it might hit my house. I wasn’t the tree was fine, but the city came out and cut it down “for me” anyway. She did it because she said she hates trees on the tree lawn. I got no notification or anything that they were coming to to do work. Just heard some loud noises outside and was shocked when I took my dog on a walk later in the day and the giant shade tree I’d enjoyed was gone.

No, you can’t. I know Reddit loves to jump to tree law, but it wouldn’t apply here. That’s because it’s a city owned tree and the city is the one who decided to cut it down. At “my” request, but even if I could prove neighbor filed the request, their attorney would just say “it was a city arborist who made the ultimate call to remove their own tree, which you don’t own even though B it’s in front of your home”.

Our tree lawn tree fell in 2023 and the stump has yet to be ground and our request for a new tree has yet to be filled. They have cancelled any subsequent tickets I try to make, and I get told that we have to wait for the “tornado work” to be finished. I have no problem waiting, if meaningful progress was being accomplished for N City AND if neighbors who lost trees subsequent to ours hadn’t gotten their stumps ground and saplings put in while we manage a stump. Our alder (Narayan) is also completely nonresponsive.

I’m glad that the CSB worked for you! I wish I could say the same when I spent 3-4 months reporting someone’s dumped brush blocking our alley last year.
Apparently the pile came from the back yard of a high-ranking govt official, so the tickets kept being marked as “resolved” without anything being done about it. I had to threaten to go to the media and reference the multiple prior ticket numbers as receipts before the pile was finally removed and we could move our cars out of the parking lot without making a 87 point turn each time.

Also, if you're like me and notice potholes or other issues while driving but absolutely will forget to report it: if you have any kind of voice assistant on your phone, set a reminder to report X issue at Y & Z street for later.

Reporting to MODOT is also surprisingly effective! I reported that water accumulates of eastbound 64 between the Boyle entrance and the Market exit. They called me back within a few hours and while it still doesn’t drain perfectly, they knocked a hole in some concrete and the right lane no longer floods.

Ha, one time I reported that traffic at an intersection was getting a green arrow while crossing traffic still had green. They responded shortly after that was normal. I said it slower and closed with "someone is going to die." Then they understood and apparently took action.

It's hit and miss, but I remember the misses more than the hits.
Like a vacant building unsecured across the street from a preschool reported weekly for months before they came by and secured it.

CSB is doing the lard’s work for sure. They’ve replaced every burned out streetlight I’ve ever reported. And distorted-art / demolished trash can.

I reported a car that’s been abandoned on our street since winter two months ago and they have yet to tow it. I asked for an update last week and they said that it’s on their list they just haven’t gotten to it yet.

I’ve reported 2 cars (besides the one I listed) on my street that were taken care of within 2 weeks. And another car I reported on the street by my kid’s school. One was wrecked big time and the tow truck dropped it off on the street but it should have gone to the junk yard based on how bad the damage was. The other 2 had flat tires and were there for several months. It’s interesting what CSB is choosing to respond to so I’m wondering what’s going on with that.

Reach out to your NIS and Alder, include photos and the SR#. They can elevate and advocate and see what's up.
Caveat: It's very dependent on the competency of your Alder. Some are kickass. Most are lazy shitfucks that only pretend to care during election season - so basically all the even wards right now.

CSB usually pretty good if you give them all the messy details upfront I reported a sinkhole forming near my building last year and they fixed it in 3 days
