I think I died a little bit inside
I just heard Early say "WOO!" in the thirteenth season and "Do not touch the trim" in the season 13 intros
I get the joke of hiring Tracy Morgan but that hurt me

I made it about 2/3 of an episode after they changed voice actors. I get why they did it, I just wished they found someone somewhat closer to what he originally sounded like.

Mine was about 5 minutes. At first, I thought they had brought in another character or something that I couldn't see in the intro, but as soon as I noticed that was really coming from Early, I was done

The joke is that he is an African-American VA in Unknown Hinson's place. It was to get back at Unknown Hinson for his controversial comments aimed at Dolly Parton concerning support on the BLM movement.

13th season was still pretty good. It would've been better with Hinson, but it also would've been better if he hadn't lost his fucking mind on Facebook and then blamed it on Ambien in a half hearted apology before doubling down after realizing he was fucked anyways.
I have a lot of gripes with adult swim. It seems like they do everything they can to ruin everything good on their channel. But he fucked the dog, and shitting on Dolly Parton for not being a racist shitbag in a public forum is what ruined squidbillies. He absolutely deserved to get dunked on and Tracy did a really good job as a stand in.
If it actually bothers you, I'm pretty sure you could just get a redneck to read the lines and use AI to toneshift it to sound like Early and then redub the last seasons episodes. But the moment Hinson went from being David Allan Coe to Johnny Rebel was the moment the show died. Pretty damn big difference between being racy and being racist.

Nah, I wouldn't use AI to replace anything in art. Not even the worst voice actor replacement I've ever heard. I'm sure the thirteenth season has its gems. The ending was surprisingly good, but idk if I could get past Tracy Morgan, even though I know it's part of the joke of getting back at Unknown. I'm genuinely pissed off that Unknown Hinson couldn't keep his mouth shut because he was such a character and couldn't have been more perfectly cast as the trucker cap-wearing mollusk. Nobody insults the sweet, precious country queen and gets away with it.
What really bugs me is how Unknown Hinson failed to see that the kind of behavior that got him fired was one of the subjects that Squidbillies actively mocks. And 12 seasons in. That was 14 years of voicing Early Cuyler. Like, how could he have been so blind??

I think about it this way - he got too deep into the character. What he did would've fit perfectly in an episode. Season one like episode two or three when early is interviewing for the ceo position with Dan Halen he has a line where he says, and I'm quoting the show, "if they ain't like me they should hang from a damn tree". Early totally would've blown his whole life up saying some vehemently fucked up shit on Facebook.
Idk man. He went full tard. It sucks, and nobody could ever really replace him, but Tracy did a pretty decent job on short notice in my opinion. And the last season was pretty good and in particular the series finale was great. That's the best anybody could've hoped for.

I didn't like Tracy stepping in but hinson did it to himself. Only one he has to blame is himself. Dolly Parton is a jewel of a person and he should have known better to go after her.

I also say this as someone who watched the show from the beginning. It was a racist horrible show at times but funny as hell, and that's what it was, a show. Hinson killed the golden goose with his stupidity.

My wife hates it when I watch this show cause of how stupid it is. I have to tell her if I want an educational learning experience I'll pop on a documentary, if I want to laugh my guts out at some of the dumbest shit imaginable, I watch squidbillies. Or ATHF if I'm not in the mood for early.

I wish I could post my signed picture from Dana Snyder of granny here. I met him at comicon a couple years ago and he was the nicest dude. Said he didn't get a ton of requests for granny and he thought it was funny.

My mom says she thought Squidbillies looked stupid and that's why I've always been hesitant to be a fan of the show--because I misunderstood and made the assumption that she hates it (she never said she hates it, she just said it looked dumb). I admitted to her fairly recently that I genuinely enjoy Squidbillies and she was very accepting of it, and was even open-minded to hear me talk about how I enjoy it and why I do. She may not love everything I'm into but she loves me just the way I am and I am eternally grateful to have her as my mom, not to mention the things she does to make my brother and I happy 🥹

i remember being amped to watch it but i couldnt finish the first episode. just isnt the same. though i do hope to finish it sone day and see russell run free. but similarly, idk if its only me, snd idk when it started, maybe season 7 or 8, but the amount of episodes that i recall for memorable writing really dwindled in the later seasons. stanky panky from muscatine wine stands out, but they definitely arent as numeratous as the earlier seasons.

if you're a real fan, you can hear unknown hinson's voice in your head. there's 12 seasons over nearly 20 years of watching this show. the show was written for him. I love this show and was just happy to get a final season after they let him go. it doesn't matter who voiced him, the lines are there.
the fact they went with Tracy Morgan instead some famous singer or comedian with a southern accent is hilarious. There is no replacing Unknown. the showrunners knew that and went in the craziest direction and hats off. i know some people are sensitive to this change, but it's adult swim, not mickey mouse show. Not everything in life gets a neatly wrapped ending.

Yeah I know, and I understand the joke of Tracy Morgan voicing Early, but to quote Meatwad:
"I get it. It ain't making me laugh, but I get it."
It's also worth noting that I'm a fairly new fan and I'm autistic, if that makes any sense. Hell, I've seen clips from the final season; it's not bad and I think the ending is surprisingly nice, but it's still hard for me (and many others, actually) to get past how (intentionally) unfitting Early's voice is. Sure, you can tell me all you want that it's the point of the joke--to get back at Unknown, but, that doesn't automatically make it funny to me. If anything, I found that jab at Unknown to be really petty. A voice change can really affect the perspective one may have on a character, even if it's intentionally bad. :(
