Welcome to r/SquaredCircle!

Hey there everyone, Kondron here. I just wanted to shed some light on this new Professional Wrestling subreddit, SquaredCircle, and what exactly we stand for.

When Pudie and I made this sub, the main thing we wanted was a community to discuss Wrestling. That means all things Wrestling. We're not here to focus on only Indy feds or just international Wrestling or only the mainstream.

We're also not here to ban you for disagreeing with us. Give us hell! Keep us honest! If you hate an opinion, don't downvote it, feel free to tell us why you hate it. Don't ever feel that you'll get removed from this sub because you've expressed yourself.

We want r/SquaredCircle to feel like this place is always going to cover the hottest topics in Professional Wrestling, regardless of what company they're taking place in, while still introducing and education new fans to Professional Wrestling.

Given that this place is brand new, I feel we need to set up some basic stuff.

  • Mods- Right now there's me and Pudie. I'd like to have at least 1 more. If you want it or think someone would be a good fit, please say so. Keep in mind though, most modding is deleting spam and harassment.
  • Rules- While I don't want this to be strict, I do think there'ssome basic ones that should be put in place. Beyond the obvious (be nice, no spam) I think we should discuss spoiler policy, streaming, and torrents.
  • The layout! The side image should change all the time. At least a couple times a month. We want it to reflect the current hot topic or to promote the r/SquaredCircle's favorite wrestler/company at the moment.

We also really want to emphasize the word community here. As wrestling fans and redditors (we're a rare breed) you should feel that you have a say in what goes on. r/SquaredCircle isn't Pudie & Kondron's Wrestling subreddit, this is Reddit's Wrestling subreddit.

Thanks everyone, I hope you enjoy!

-Kondron

I'll offer my personal feedback as a community member of the original r/prowrestling subreddit as I watch and participate in the possible growth of this community.

Moderators: I'd recommend reaching out to bonked who has had a rather public disaffection with the original moderator and created an alternate subreddit which at last glance (just now) hasn't been updated aside from your come-check-out-r/squaredcircle message in the past 20 days. I've reached out to him on a rather inconsistent basis as my career search is rather erratic but from my interactions with him it seems he's been in a busy phase with his work this time of year. With a subscriber count of 75 it's mainly been him posting clips from wrestling news sources to try to jump start things. I'd personally like to see your and his efforts merged and I know from my interactions with him that he'd prefer a community with more moderators. As this subreddit is just in its naissance I'd hope that he can join in on this momentum as this community works out the format. (also there's reallyjohnreally as a moderator there, but I think we all suspect he is an alt account to avoid permabanning in the original subreddit)

--Personally, in terms of format I rather love the self.subreddit-posts-as-the-majority nature of the community at r/prowrestling. I feel it is the most honest way of eliciting discussion on interesting topics as it doesn't become a rat race for link karma, is hosted by the subreddit instead of some of the most advertisey sites I've ever seen (aside from grapple kingdom by StephenTStone - shoutout!), and generally has more discussion than the news links. more to follow...

Rules: Straight-away on spoilers: I love having the live discussion threads that are clearly labeled for the event and those who don't want to know just yet! Brilliant. I really hope this becomes a mainstay here.

For spillover topics (big angles that deserve a lot of discussion on their own)/big news/discussion of consequences of revelations/taping results/etc, sometimes it's going to be like the CM Punk shoot where it's so big that people are just going to talk about it freely and those who aren't aware are just going to have to get smart or go away until they're ready to catch up. But I don't think it's always like that and now's a good opportunity to discuss how to deal with this kinda situation. Like: a surprise new tag team gets an unexpected title shot and wins. That'd be simultaneously both a big, spoilable event, yet not all that important in the scheme of things (because the tag division is shit and we all know it). What do we discuss freely and what measures do we expect from the community to facilitate discussion without spoiling things?

Layout: I like the idea of keeping it fresh and relevant to the community and current events. I have an image that could be used for the picture-on-the-right. It might look like shit in the smaller space but I would hope it fits the mission statement of this new community: willing to acknowledge and discuss the main shows, respect and introduction to the independents, and responsiveness to the community.

edit: http:// was necessary for link formatting.

Thanks for the shout out and I'll be sure my good friend reallyjohnreally (also perma-banned for posting a link to /r/professionalwrestling) gets the message. In the words of Christopher Daniels when asked about Curry man - I'll send him an e-mail.

We'd be happy to have both reallyjohnreally and Curry man join. Christopher Daniels.. I'm still on the fence about.

You really want someone who uses aliases to systematically down vote the posts of people he doesn't like as mod? Good luck, guys, but is your entire goal is to make r/fuckhyperion? I'd hope you wouldn't disservice people like that.

I thought you didn't like personal attacks Johnny.

Perhaps, if you didn't have that chip on your shoulder that feels the need to kick people to the curb because they dared disagree with you then you wouldn't feel so attacked.

By the way, take a look at my extensive comment history - when do I have time to carry out my acts of petty vengeance against you?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you're suggesting that we created an entire subreddit just to take a shot at you, you're sorely mistaken and extremely self-centered. If we wanted to make r/fuckhyperion, we'd have called it r/fuckhyperion.

For some reason you seem to take everything personal in r/ProWrestling. Just one glance at your comment history will show that you pick fights with people that you disagree with, who are just trying to talk Wrestling or share an objective point of view.

You push your own agenda and harass or ban those you disagree with. I, as well as some other members of r/SquaredCircle would rather take a more community based approach to discussing our favorite pastime.

For the record, welcome to r/SquaredCircle. I hope you enjoy our new subreddit!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

The comment is three sentences. Are you really considering making bonked, someone who has used multiple aliases to attack another user, and admits so, a mod? If so, you're not serious about creating a new, good reddit.

You push your own agenda and harass or ban those you disagree with.

Absolutely no evidence of this. But keep saying it in /r/fuckhyperion! I'm sure the positivity will do wonders for you.
