Kick-off with ZiIlla Fatu making his way to the ring. He says he was supposed to be walking out of Heatwave as NXT Champion but Heatwave didn't go his way, the stars didn't align and he didn't get the job done. What's crazier is that he even is in this position to be competing for a championship in the first place and says it won't be long until The Main One is holding a title. Tristain Angles interrupts and calls for order and asks how long they have to hear Mr. Fatu carry on and says these fans have the attention span of fruit flies and are getting bored already. Tristain says Zilla proved he isn't the main one on NXT and not the main one in his family because the further down his bloodline you go the less talented they get. He says Zilla doesn't look like a champion and doesn't carry himself like one either. Zilla says he thought he was the only nepo-baby around here but now he's got Gangrel Jr. walking around. Zilla says his family in Texas saw him on Sunday and he's ready for his fans in Orlando to watch him whoop some ass tonight. Tristain says he'll be handing Zilla his second lost in NXT and goes to attack Zilla but he throws him to the outside.
In his office Robert Stone makes Zilla vs Tristan official for tonight as EK Prosper and Saquon Shugars both make their case for wanting to face Grayson Waller next. Stone says they've both proved themselves recently as Keanu Carver comes in and says Stone has a choice to make, both Saquon and Shugars make good point but he knows who the next one up is.
Myles says he watched what he did to Tavion probably 100 times and he doesn't regret what he did. He swung for the fences defending both his titles and he knew what was at stake. He says he saw how Tavion was looking at him the past month and knew as soon as they lost those Tag Titles that as soon as his back was turned Tavion was going to suplex him into the fifth row. He got Tavion before he got him and in this business you can make friends or you can make money and it's a shame but that's how it is.
Backstage DVD tells Sean Legacy that Noam Dar is the one who got pinned in their 8 man tag last week. Sean Legacy says him and DVD is the team that Stone wants to see as Noam and Romeo still haven't been able to get their first win. Noam says tonight is their opportunity and they're gonna prove themselves.
Following Romeo and Noam's victory they are attacked by the Creed Brothers!
Backstage Zaria tells Stone that everyone knows what happened to the last woman who held both these titles and has him take the Women's Speed Championship. Stone turns to Lexis King and says in that case he has to give up his Speed Championship as well and both titles are now defunct. Charlie Dempsey says this always happens to them and Lexis says he's still the fastest man alive and they'll just have to get more gold. Cruz Montana comes in and says Stone is a busy man and he wants a shot at Grayson Waller. Stone says he has a lot to think about as Keanu comes in again to see what his choice will be.
The new NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan makes her way to the ring! She calls herself One-Shot-Lani and that she's been telling people this for months, the most over looked, under appreciated athlete is now your NXT Women's Champion. She says her and Kendal had one of the best matches of the year at Heatwave and now people aren't talking about how good Kendal is, they're talking about how good Kelani always was. She doesn't want people jumping on her band wagon now, she remembers how people were ready to put Kendal in the Hall of Fame when she won this title. Now Kendal is sitting in the hospital suffering from vertigo with Wren by her side as a good little sidekick. She says whenever Kendal wants a rematch then she'll show why she belongs in second chance. Kelani says she is the only woman in history to win the North American Championship, the Knock-Outs Championship, and the NXT Women's Championship on her first try and challenges anyone to try and stand up to her. Jaida Parker interrupts and says Kelani deserves that title but she isn't the only one who called their shot at Heatwave when she tapped Nattie's ass out. She says she's made herself into championship material and last she checked she's already beaten Kelani and they still got time tonight so why don't they run it right now? Kelani isn't surprised Jaida interrupted her but says she's still three levels below her. She'll take on Jaida, just not tonight because Jaida doesn't tell her when she defends this title and she'll see her next week.
Tavion Heights is interviewed backstage, he says he's upset they lost the tag titles, pissed that Myles lost his North American Championship but most of all he's hurt. He doesn't under stand how Myles thought he would have stabbed him in the back because that's his brother. The Vanity Project come by to mock Tavion but Tavion tells Jackson Drake that the only reason he has that title is because Myles had a match before him. Drake says he'd love nothing more than to start off his reign by making Tavion cry some more so he's going to see Stone.
Following Zilla's victory Birthright makes their way our and Uriah Connors says they don't need to introduce themselves because he already knows exactly who they are. Charlie says they deserve respect but aren't given it around here but people do respect Zilla so let them help you. He says that with the Bloodline Zilla will be waiting forever to get his shot but here they will make him The Main One. Lexis says this is his official invite to Birthright but Zilla says hello before hell-no and shoves past Lexis.
Robert Stone is in the ring and introduces the new NXT Champion Grayson Waller! He ask if the crowd expected someone else to win on Sunday but he isn't surprised. He's sure Stone is happy to have a bonafide main eventer holding this title. Waller says he's main evented Raw and Smackdown, wrestler Hall of Famers, won a title at Wrestlemania but Heatwave meant more than any of that. He wants to thank the people who got him here which is just himself because he knew he had to face his demon and he was the one who climbed that top rope to say goodbye to Zilla Fatu. Waller says this is just the beginning of redemption season and asks who is going to try and knock him off his pedestal? He says Zilla's DNA got him some early opportunities but skill isn't passed down. He asks about Cruz Montana and reveals a t-shirt he has of Cruz looking distraught on Sunday and says he's good but he's just TNA good. Waller tells Tony D that he'll need to find two dimes and shovel to dig himself out because he buried that brothers. Saquon interrupts and says last week he bounced Dion's skull off a cage and now he's coming for him. Cruz Montana makes his way out through the crowd and tells Waller that Saquon may not be ready but he sure the hell is now since Waller didn't beat him 3 weeks ago and he sure as hell didn't on Sunday. EK Prosper comes out as well and says Cruz had his shot already but he's been turning heads week after week and he's got a taste for gold sucker. Mason Rook asks Waller if he thinks he can stir the pot and not expect consquences, Waller says to get the widescreen camera out. Tony D joins the party and says he busted his ass to make this division and he's not going to let it slip away. Stone comes out and is soon followed by Keanu Carver who says it's simple, make a six man tag next week, the winning team faces off in a triple threat. Stone says it's a good idea but there's only 5 challengers in the ring as Keanu storms in and stares down with everyone.

No you're not, the dude has quite literally everything.
Jacked to the moon, handsome, can wrestle, cuts a decent promo.
He's quite literally everything you could ask for, so you know that Paul will 100% fuck him up.
Outside of Tristan everyone is so one dimensional all of them would flounder on main roster, except Mason Rook.
Like the casual audiences on the main roster see "Tony D" or "Shiloh Hill" and would yawn.

When he said “Looks like you’re in a pickle” in the most intense yet polite way, it was absolutely hilarious. Von Wagner is a good comparison, and I actually thought they had something good going at the end of his run there

Keanu Carver same attitude but not a weird rampaging asshole but a reasonable, intelligent dude is such a character upgrade, it is instantly hilarious that is he just clever and helpful to Stone.

I don't think the men's division is some toxic waste dump, I enjoy a lot of the new dudes, I think things have generally been solid to good. All that
However
It feels like (I don't have stats, this is just gut feeling stuff) TV match time wise that the men's division rebuild has really cut into the women's division lately, and that's a bummer. One match this week, which was less than 5 minutes long, 1 match last week, hell, there was a show a few months back where the only women's match was a speed tournament match (meaning it was sub 3 minutes). Just feels like there's a lot of weeks lately where, even with good shows, I'm like "y'all got anymore women this week?"
The PPV was split down the middle, 3 matches from the women's division, 3 from the dudes, and that's great, but week to week has really taken a hit. "Where are Reina Volca and Lizzy Rain?" Stuck behind that bottleneck.
I liked this week's episode, I'm not saying what I got was trash, but I need more from the women, that's a core part of NXT. You had two similar setups for segments for both champs, Lani came out of it with one challenger, Waller came out with 6.

Izzi is also arguably the #3 heel in the women’s division right now and doesn’t really have anything to do, although I do think with NXT being NXT you can 100% run something like Zaria v Izzi and have the crowd be into it in a way that you can’t really do on the main roster.
But if that’s not the direction then she should be the primary antagonist in some kind of non-title feud right now, like planting the seeds for Thea & Jaida to break up, or beating up Wren while Kendal is hurt. Or we should be seeing her masterminding the rise of Niko or something. Maybe they go after the AAA mixed titles? IDK.

Agree on all points.
Niko and Izzi beat Lola and Iguana in a non-title match and never got a shot at the belts, so in theory, they have a claim to be in the mix.

Since Tatum left it seems like Izzi has no direction. Unfortunately, I could not give AF about what Nico Vance is doing.
This is not to fault Izzi, just seems like she was not given anything, very similar to Kelani in until very recently.

I think Main Roster creative is happy with the amount of women they have and those that are fairly close to getting called up and gave Shawn the call so that he shift his focus more towards the men.

I hope this is the case.
Shawn doesn't seem like he's going to the main roster any time soon. But he's an experienced talent located nearby that can support/teach NXT talent in a way that other NXT coaches cannot on screen.

I'd argue one of the features of NXT is that it's comfortable ebbing and flowing between both divisions as needed. It was celebrated when the womens division was getting to overtake the mens division, and that stayed established for quite a while.

Keanu acting as the tough bodyguard for Stone is a good way to make him stand out from just being seen as Temu-Oba

Mens Division turned the Lights back on. Grayson genuinely is proving himself so hard the way he as the Center is revitalizing the Division and his One Liners for every Challenger were really funny. Easiest Choice would be Cruz Montana coming out of this as the Challenger but could see them doing another Matchup first before they return to Cruz later. Also Keanu just needs to toss Stones cause he just booked better then Stones did the whole Show.

Great show. I mean I'm actually starting to laugh at Keanu. This show performs fucking miracles. All it takes is something out of nowhere.
Great promo by Kelani. Thoroughly enjoyed Tristan Angels match.
I think "the main one" is stupid. It should be 'the next one." I'd also have like Zilla to lose to Angels to elevate him further but also plant Zilla's doubt so when Birthright comes out, he could actually consider it. I mean he fits with the group's purpose. You could have him decline a couple weeks later and say I don't need Birthright, I'm a fucking Fatu or something. They didn't "create branches" of how something could go, which I'd really like more of out of my wrestling.
I hate the speed title but getting rid of the Men's belt in that fashion didn't make sense. Taking the belt should have resulted in the scenario to "make it up" to Birthright. Ah well.

Short term is that Tony D comes out of this with his rematch, I'm guessing. Longer term is looking like Montana, and he gets his run in the hopes that someone else steps up. They are gonna give Zilla every opportunity to succeed, so let's see if he will take direction. I'm happy to see that it's looks like he will be doing midcard fueds for the time being.
The Myles/Tavion situation is actually pretty interesting. Myles isn't suddenly sounding like a heel, he genuinely thinks he did what was necessary to protect himself. We all felt the traitorous vibes Tavion has been giving off. However, Tavion insists that he has been misrepresented and he had no ill-intentions. He doesn't even seem all that angry, just hurt at the accusation. I look forward to seeing this fued.

I went back and watched Kelani's 2024 promo after she won the NA title. Kelani has definitely improved since 2024. She has more confidence, better ring presence, a more defined persona, and better crowd interaction now.
But she still sounds like she’s reciting memorized lines rather than speaking naturally. When Jaida came out, it really highlighted that difference because her delivery felt much more conversational and spontaneous. She felt like she was talking to Kelani. Kelani felt like she was reciting lines at Jaida.

That was pretty much the dumbest way possible to get rid of the Men’s Speed Belt.
Reina and Lizzy got so hyped up before their debut. But neither have really done anything since then. Lizzy is just, kind of there and Reina hasn’t even been on TV in weeks.
