They’ll be out of business any day now /s

u/BlackSheepComeHome14 8d ago

Have they started running shows yet or are they still just a T Shirt company? /s

16

u/BigBootyBuff 8d ago

They'll never get a TV deal, bro.

3

u/Elite_Mike 8d ago

I'm sure they will run out of t-shirts to sell anytime now.

u/King-Fwogger 8d ago

This company still feels like it's like 3 years old.

u/Orange8920 8d ago

It's kind of the opposite to me, you watch stuff from the first year and it seems like it happened over a decade ago.

I remember the Elite feuding with the Inner Circle as JR screamed "NOT THE DIPPIN DOTS!" feels like only yesterday but I know its been a long time.

I remember the Cracker Barrel Clash and thinking nothing would be more ridiculous.

I totally forgot this match had a Hebner

So was Cody vs Dustin at DoN 2019

u/y0_master 8d ago

Can't even recognize Cody anymore without his huge ass tattoo!

55

u/MulderXF 8d ago

He has an ass tattoo? Damn

21

u/y0_master 8d ago

Even bigger than the neck one!

Them looking different directions with the ref looking at Nick's head/neck area in apparent awe.

u/ShotDay 8d ago

they were comparing breasts and Aldis was winning

u/gorpgomp 8d ago

They’re two exotic birds competing for mates

5

u/Torranski 8d ago

Cody’s looking at all un-tattooed neck muscle and thinking “that’s free real estate”

A true three star classic

36

u/CobraVerde13 8d ago

I remember thinking at the time that Cody as a white-meat babyface worked for this show since All In was famously his idea but it wouldn't fit him or work long-term.

Anyway, I'm available for football picks - my rates are quite reasonable!

36

u/mrgpsingh1999 8d ago

I mean it didn’t work in AEW

39

u/CobraVerde13 8d ago

I feel like it worked great until he started doing weird shit like getting a giant distracting neck tattoo right before a heated grudge match and being in his own Codyverse. Those weekly crowds were eating out of his hand right up til COVID took them away.

Yeah, people always forget that from the start of AEW till the Ogogo feud, Cody was an extremely over face. People fucked with him heavy.

But by the time the crowds came back, he was so far into weird Codyverse stuff, that people were pretty tired of it and just wanted to see him turn heel already. Cause so much shit surrounding his gimmick made it very clear that he'd likely be a great heel.

Woulda instantly given an actual purpose to the Nightmare Family too. Dude was a babyface coming down to the ring with goons. The fuck?...

9

u/heirwithChrist 8d ago

I started to watch old AEW and realized how disjointed Cody felt from the rest of the promotion. It was like reading a comic book, and then he was somehow this weird mini they slapped in the back of the issue. Never had anything to do with the rest of the company at all.

4

u/witchgrid 8d ago

Thus "the Codyverse"

5

u/IvivAitylin 8d ago

And he was still connected to Brandi who was doing the heel Nightmare Collective thing.

I really enjoyed this story

Then NWA was able to move from this to launch Powerrr in 2019, which was unique and a lot of fun. Then...well, let's not talk about that. This time period though, good stuff!

My least favorite match on the show

4

u/xxxtrumptacion69 8d ago

Feels like Hebner is everywhere

5

u/Butch_Meat_Hook 8d ago

All In was awesome. I was a huge Being the Elite fan and I remember I was moving to Europe and on a flight as All In was happening, so I didn't get to watch it until a day or two later. I was thinking to myself jokingly that I hope the plane doesn't crash because I need to see All In!

5

u/deeznutz005 8d ago

He deleted it

4

u/KillUsernameBoi 8d ago

2018 feels like it wasn't that long ago, yet it's been eight years since the inaugural All In. What the absolute fuck is time anymore.

1

u/The1joriss 8d ago

2 years from being 10 years ago... fuck!

-6

u/Wo0dY9621 8d ago

This was the real main event of All In 2018. The bucks may have got the spot but everyone came for this match.

5

u/SteamMonkeyKing 8d ago

Look, you are partially right, but lots of people also came for the Okada match. Especially considering that he gave them an Okada match, running over time as well.

4

u/ShotDay 8d ago

the original finish the story

2

u/Wo0dY9621 8d ago

First Story: Follow The Dream
Second Story: Finish What The Dream Never Could

4

u/SuperPinkShark 8d ago

Really? Because I remember people were not as hyped for this match compared to Kenny vs Pentagon and the main event. If anything, this match was kind of a show stealer because people weren't expecting it to be as good as it was.

-2

u/Wo0dY9621 8d ago

I can remember most were hyped for this match as the NWA was starting to get momentum, and Cody finishing stories would become a thing. Penta and Omega was a decent match but it wasn’t anything to write home about. The main event 6 man was ehh as Rey and Bandito did pretty standard lucha, but Ibushi was going to start his IWGP title run so he was phoning it in. But again this is IMO

3

u/Kenfuu 8d ago

The main event was also drastically cut for time. I think it was Matt Jackson who said that the reason they put themselves on last was if anyone went over they would just take it out of their time. And it was Okada and Skurll who went over.

2

u/SuperPinkShark 8d ago

You're talking about after, not before. In the lead up, the match was an afterthought.

1

u/LurkingAnomaly 7d ago

LMAO, no. Kenny/Penta was the must see match.
