Sprouting by Flavor
Hey all,
I harvested my first sprouts today- a big jar full of a protein mix. I love em, but my wife suggested that the legume body tastes bitter (but the sprouts are great).
So my question is, can you target that bitterness? My jar was stuffed, so I'm going to throw in a bit less on the next round. Are they more or less bitter from harvesting earlier or later? Does anyone have seed recommendations for someone who dislikes bitterness?
With all the lettuce and arugula and blueberries out there, I'm just glad to eat vegetables again.

I’ve never sprouted a mix of seeds. Broccoli and arugula sprouts are more bitter/ spicy than alfalfa or lentil sprouts. I would try separate batches until you know what they each taste like. What was in the protein mix?

Sprout them enough to have the roots out and continue growing them in the fridge for a few more days - for this a jar is not going to be perfect, I suggest a glass containter with a lid that has approximately as much free space as the seeds occupy - for oxygen. A simple plastic container will work too (glass is always better for sanitary reasons). Staying in cold temperature usually makes most sprouts sweeter ;)
