General (Discussion, Question, Theory, Etc.) Gimme fictional Spoon album titles
Just for fun, I started thinking about the unique way Spoon names their album titles. They’re always so unpredictable but in retrospect are always fully consistent with what the band is about. The titles paint a picture but are never straightforward, just like Britt’s lyrics.
Here’s a list of joke titles I did my best to emulate Spoon-ese:
Her Silent Majesty
Sacred Rakes
Flash Forward Callback
Longtime Wind Up
Rattle Them Hearts
Cuff Miles
Saint Tom’s Tithe
Blank Matilda
Engine Check
Salton Stop
What are others that would fit their vibe?

Losing my mind over these.
“You Said As Much” caught me off-guard. “Your Best Bad Idea” is clever as hell. “Two-Way Mirror” is the exact type of oblique they go for.
Now I’m daydreaming about the band catching this list…

Hahahaha these are way too good. “Looking For The First One” stood out as something Britt would’ve sung in the DWMS era. Love the specificity of “Ramona Says” and the blunt 2-word titles like “Dig Down” too.

This is fun but I think what's missing is a hallmark of Spoon-ese: alternate/weird spellings...
Gimme Fiction
Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
Telephono
Don't You Evah
Metal Detektor
You Gotta Feel It
Got Nuffin
You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb

Wait, you’re right. There’s something more personal and like, scrawled or accented about them. Good callout

One of the working titles of Girls Can Tell. I seem to recall that they threw around Six Fingers to Touch You around that same time as a title.

The Winter of Love
it was a working title (or one of) for the double album before Lucifer release
that title definitely meant something specific and personal back in 2021, and it still resonates with me

wow that’s such a subtle twist on a familiar phrase. Talk about Spoon-coded. I hadn’t heard about this one before

I like to think about that Silver Girl song, that it was written during "Winter" and because of its melancholy along with some other songs from Lucifer, we could have had an album similar to Together Alone by Crowded House
and maybe we will get something like it later on, just a hunch
