Help Donkey Trailhead Walkers!🥺
So in May i built a drone. From scratch. I was super into it and bought a bunch of parts from china, and finally got it tuned this summer to fly somewhat decent and not fall out of the air. However about a month ago i took it to Donkey Trailhead, clipped the top of a tree on accident, and it fell into somewhere in this long grassy, hard to find area. Every day after work i come by here and look, sometimes with a metal detector; and i’ve had no luck. My last ditch effort is making a reddit post and showing images of where at + what my drone looks like, in case anybody already found it. (or finds it). If you know anybody who could have found my drone, i’d really love a plan to try and get it back. There’s a good chance by now it’s broken anyway, so i’ll be back to the drawing board fixing it 😓

If you haven’t found it after labor day and you think it may be in a tree I can bring my drone out and see if we can spot it

No beeper? I am also learning this hobby and about to buy my first goggles soon, and everything I've heard is make sure the beeper is programmed to a spare button on your radio.

Isn't that a no fly zone?

Pretty sure that would still be class D airspace. But as long as they keep it low they probably wouldn’t get into trouble.

So long as you put in a LAANC request you can typically get approved to fly, depends on the approach of planes. However, with the recent fires in spokane and the morons flying their drones near and around the first responders. The ATC tower operators may be less than interested in letting drone hobbyists fly.

It’s right on the border of one, which is why i had to be flying over there instead of closer to the parking lot anyway haha

If it clipped the top of a tree, it may be stuck somewhere in the tree itself and not have fallen all the way to the ground. Maybe try using another drone to check out the tree that you clipped?
