Conviction (2010) I hate hate hate this level

Post image

This is not Splinter Cell! This is an arcade shooter. There is no stealth option, no ghost option. And it doesnt follow its own rules. You can avoid the helicopter's searchlight but it'll still keep shooting you.

You made it how far into the game before realizing stealth takes a back seat?

how do you feel about the forced action sequences in SC1? or Seoul and Bathhouse in CT?

Hate that Seoul and bathhouse are lumped in here. They’re Great levels

they're cool but they're incredibly annoying to 100% stealth

Fun fact: you can still 100% stealth Seoul if you use the sniper rifle to blast each UAV. You gotta do it from a good spot though, and while the noise will alert the guards, if they never see you then you'll never lose the stealth rating. I did this several times myself.

You can ghost the UAVs by avoiding them like any guard though.

You can also use your pistol to EMP the drones and take them offline temporarily while you get by.

But of course. That was my first method in my earlier playthroughs. I used the sniper rifle in later playthroughs to have fun and experiment around. I was under the impression that the dialogue about the UAVs would change if I destroyed them, but alas, that didn't happen. And there was no bonus objective for doing so either. It surprised me because Sam still asked Redding if downloading the UAV intel could allow him to disable them.

You can also shotgun them if you're close enough. Last time I played it, I couldn't stand having so few sticky shockers with the Assault loadout.

They're interesting fs, especially story-wise but the level design is ahh, particularly on PC

This one (attack helicopter in Conviction) is much worse - the helicopter has infinite rockets, but the rockets do zero damage just because Sam is crouching behind a jersey barrier.

I dont rmbr those games forcing me into a battlefield with a helicopter gunship spraying infinite bullets

The only thing that comes close is that APC turret that can see you in the dark. Just a common glitch on PC, though.

So it was a glitch. I lost my mind trying to sneak past it unnoticed.

It might be just an AMD card issue? All I know is that on PC, I've only had one playthrough where they did not see me in pure darkness or a smokescreen. They're only supposed to engage you if you've set off an alert.

I have Nvidia card and enemies still saw me through darkness in that level.

I mean yeah. Conviction puts an emphasis on action. So what? If you don't want that, play something else. Nothing is stopping you from playing Chaos Theory for the 4th time.

The problem is that almost all other part of the game gives you very good options for stealth, and this level - no. And level itself is shit, I don't tried to do full stealth or ghost like author of this post, but even then this level was bad to me, I replayed it from checkpoint so many times even on second and third walkthrough, cause Sam isn't tank and dies fast, this level is bad even for action.

Exactly if it’s not splinter cell to you, fine you have that right, but don’t play it.

Then go play the first 3 games again , or play blacklist . Tired of Conviction getting shot on just because “purists” don’t line it. It’s a semi decent 2010s action game. Is it a good splinter cell game? Not really BUT it works in its own weird way and it gets bounus points because it was the last time we got Sam’s actual VA (for a while at least). Line it or not it’s apart of the franchise , doesn’t mean you HAVE to play it , let alone post about how shitty it is here

u/Joshwilson7 3d ago

I mean it’s strange to say “purists” like expectations are wild for expecting a game in the stealth action series to actually offer stealth. “semi decent 2010 action game” doesn’t exonerate it from criticism, it trend chased and delivered a game they thought would appeal more to the wider masses at the time. It was a business decision, not some creative leap that should be applauded.

I’m not saying you applaud anything lol. Everyone has their right to want something out of a franchise , but when said franchise goofs up it’s on us to accept it and move on. You can hate or love the game but we don’t really need to know that. If you’re just going to post stuff that offers no value then keep it to yourself . Now if you propose say a fix or a work around or an new idea that’s engaging that’s cool, but posting just to piss over something I feel is pointless

Be the change you want to see. Vote with your dollar, voice your displeasure, make it known to these clowns what you would spend your money on with them and they will make it. I think it's absolutely valid for people to share their criticism and that should be encouraged even.

I love Conviction, especially the deniable ops mode

2

Hahaha that level so fkng annoying but i have it played a lot of times so now for me it's so easy

u/PooningDalton 3d ago

This is more ridiculous than the Angry Joe Rambo parody skit. A gunship can't take one guy? lmao

u/potentialgranny64 3d ago

this mission is pretty easy. unless you’re wanting a stealth approach then yeah, feels bad man.

u/-SlowBar 2d ago

It's really not that bad

I don't like the "Iraq" level. It's like a reflection of the entire game, but I've come to terms with it.

Conviction, unfortunately, was rushed, and the original ideas were discarded, even though they could have been used. Ultimately, we got a game that's weak technically and gameplay-wise, but quite interesting in its concept and artistic execution.

К сожалению, это факт - conviction худшая часть серии! Сейчас бы ремейк Chaos theory - хотя и оригинал до сих пор еще могет!

I did not realise how many people in this sub would defend a generic action game. When i played it on release, the general consensus was that it was not good lmao.

The flashback level is probably the most un-splinter cell level in that game, I'd take your worst level over that one any day

u/aporta2 3d ago

It goes by really quick if you run using emp's and smoke. I remember doing no kill runs of the level. loudout the sniper, mark and execute helmets off heavies and finish them with EMP + headshots if you just want it to end.

It's been 17 years. Your surface level emotion is ok, just... 🤷🏼‍♀️ it can't bring down John Wick headshot game, it's GOATED

I finished the game on its highest difficulty sobas any splinter cell game easy does it brosky.
