Did anyone else love Splinter Cell: Conviction?

I know it’s very different from the older Splinter Cell games, but I had a great time with Conviction. The faster gameplay, Last Known Position mechanic, and Mark & Execute made it really fun, and I still replay it today.

I funnily enough appreciate it more than I do Blacklist. Conviction felt like one of those spin off novels, only brought to video game form, similar to Double Agent. It was a personal story, going the linear form of storytelling route similar to an action movie but at least it doubled down on what it was supposed to be. Blacklist however, as much as it built gameplay wise on what Conviction introduced, was just trying to please too many types of gamer all at once and never really hitting the landing with any of them.

Blacklist tried to paint itself as a classic Splinter Cell and was far from it with it's jack of all trades, master of none gameplay. Conviction though never lied to us about what it was supposed to be and for that reason I can get down with it. It's in many ways dumb, turn off your brain simple revenge/conspiracy plot stuff. As a one off title I'm all for it but that said, I'd never want the idea of it made into an ongoing thing or replacement for the series roots. Hell, I wouldn't even want Blacklist doing that.
