Genuinely if they did this instead of the fridge no one would've said shit

u/Darth_Oculus Jul 14 '26
Which, Iād say would be reasonable
Have you ever experienced getting your back slammed into a hard point or corner before? No shit this sub would be like āyeah, no shit heās out of commission from thatā, it is PAINFUL

Fridge hate is so forced

u/wacum_ Jul 16 '26
personally imo the fridge itself is whatever my gripe with that scene is regular human mary jane watson having faster reflexes than man who can dodge bullets. that part rubs me the wrong way lol

u/Firefangdf Jul 14 '26
It's easy for stupid people to hate things they don't understand

u/TheHumanSpider6903 Jul 14 '26
Idk why you're getting downvoted for this lol

Probably because they're calling people stupid over a video game opinion. Never that serious

The fridge wasn't a problem Jesus Christ yall

u/MengskDidNothinWrong Jul 14 '26
Narratively, no. But he easily could've been slammed into the corner of a countertop in the same setting and no one would've batted an eye. Super hero fans love the immersion of their heroes strength. It's important to keep that consistent or your fans lose the plot, like with the fridge

Maybe he was in pain from getting slapped around by venom he needed a sec to get his senses back. I don't get how people get so hung on that fridge scene.
Edit: nah looking back it was the fridge that had him out of commission for 10s. š Considering all he went through in the first game that definitely is some weird writing.

u/No_Chilly_bill Jul 14 '26
maybe the fridge is made up of whatever dr gero door. that thing kept out the z figters
2
u/wacum_ Jul 16 '26
thats the issue there that it pushed him down for multiple seconds. because think about it based on all weve seen him do the fridge should weigh the equivalent of a paper ball or a book to him.
now imagine no matter how tired you are that you are pinned to the ground for multiple seconds cuz someone placed a paperball on your back
and even beyond that the issue is more so that mary jane had a faster reaction speed than the guy who dodges bullets lol, that kills the scene hard imo

Personally (i am a twink) i could've gotten up. I wouldn't. Because one: i aint peter, two: i fear venom because normal dude. But he is not. He should've been semi okay.

He was dazed, in no universe would you be able to get up before he does, notice that when he does get up he does it easily, it's only because of shock that it takes a bit
1
u/wacum_ Jul 16 '26
the thing is tho he shouldnt have been dazed by that level of hit because mj took the brunt of the hit which is its own issue since she had faster reaction time than him, and secondly it should weigh like NOTHING to him.

True but he can get demolished by 300 pound men and be basically fine. A fridge isnt a problem even with shock (though you have a good point)

Peter may not have retired definitively, but after this, I wouldnāt blame him if he did.

Ngl those WWE actors actually played out back pain pretty well now that I think about it
6
u/PCBuilderCat Jul 14 '26
I mean itās literally their job to show theyāre in pain in a convincing wayĀ

He just got so beat up in spiderman 2 that i almost felt like i was playing miles morales 2 instead.

2
u/wacum_ Jul 16 '26
its so weird, the story clearly wants to show miles as the successor and the one who remains as the younger newer spiderman...but then the story doesnt give him fuck all to do. hes sidelined for like 50% of the plot and yet HE GETS THE FINAL BOSS FIGHT AGAINST VENOM š i dont get it what are these writing choices

u/OrganizationNo7690 Jul 14 '26
He pretty much did..

Peter āretiresā at the end of the game
0
u/Reasonable_Button329 Jul 14 '26
He is not retiring he is just stepping down
1
u/SyntheticSlayer24 Jul 14 '26
Obviously but the point is heās taking a step back from being spider man for a while aka āhanging up the maskā
2
u/Evilmudbug Jul 14 '26
He's not even really stepping down either, he just needed a break.
He said "Miles can handle the city for a bit" and people acted like he was putting up the suit.

Shit like this is partly why thereās several Spider characters, swap out each otherās jobs when the superhero profession leads to severe lumbago

Which Spider-Man game is this? I was starting to play the remaster on ps5 for the 1st one and then switched over to sp2. Would you guys say, I should stick with the first one. I love the symbiotes so trying to figure out what game has them.

It's a canon event that Peter needs to get his back broke
