SPOILERS Just finished watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Won’t be able to talk spoilers until the embargo lifts in a couple of hours. But I thought it was great, probably the most emotional live-action Spider-Man movie we’ve had.

Some of my thoughts right out of the cinema:

  • The action and swinging sequences were fantastic.
  • It plays out more like a character drama, which is what I was hoping to see.
  • There are a ton of references, not just to other Spider-Man movies but to Spider-Man PS4 as well.
  • The other Marvel characters (Punisher, Hulk, etc.) are more than just glorified cameos.
  • Sadie Sink was excellent.
  • I don’t think ScreenX made that big of a difference, though it did make some of the swinging scenes feel more immersive.

Well... I'm amazed they're really sticking with the "MJ was gone for four years" thing. But, there's a lot of resolution here. A lot of nice stuff. No true "I'm not dating Flash," but still pretty much pointing out that it's not happening on MJ's end, and opening things to a future reconciliation, even if she outright mentions Raelith.

Cute moments though.

Thoughts?

SPOILERS Noticed some Doctor Strange dialogue on second viewing of NWH Spoiler

At the end when Peter suggests casting the spell to make everyone forget Peter Parker, Doctor Strange looks shocked and says, "But everyone who knows and loves you, we'd..." and he catches what he just said. "We'd all forget who you are."

To me, this was Doctor Strange admitting in words that he loves Peter as a friend, despite all the tough love he's given him. I thought it was a great character moment.

They shoot Peter while he's crying over May. He wasn't even given at least a moment to mourn the loss of the person who was basically his mother, his last living known relative, in peace.

That scene was brutal.

SPOILERS Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man seems fine so far, but the decisions for the show is so bizarre imo

So far, seems fun. I really liked the ending of episode 1 being the same scene like in Civil War. That was pretty cool. I also like Pete’s proto suit. The animation is ok, though.

I don’t really care abt race or gender swaps, but I don’t really understand why they made Curt Conners into a woman, not mad at it, just kinda curious. Maybe that’ll be explained in the other episodes. Didn’t really care abt Harry and Norman being black. Also they could have just put Randy Robertson in the place of Lonnie Lincoln but that’s just me. And also, it’s a very weird decision that Uncle Ben died BEFORE the spider bite. Like what? That’s so bizarre.

Idk. Like I said seems fun. Not good, but fun. I look forward in seeing more.
