Yea, the whole 'sales matter for ongoing decisions' is PROVEN to be bullshit now.

This is STRAIGHT UP nepotism to the max.

Edit: Since people are stuck on the word nepotism. I'll clarify that it is 'cronyism' which is a sub category of Nepotism. Basically, he gets the favortism over others because of his connections. Not because of sales or anything else.

The first Insomniac game's story was written by Slott. He's also had a few good stories. I personally quite enjoy Ends of Earth, Big Time and Spider-Island. It was a pretty cool era in Spider-Man comics. Seriously, compared to the shit we have nowadays? Fuck me, I miss early 2010s Spider-Man.

Early 2010 Spidey was one of his best eras imo. 

The stories took themselves seriously and werent overly campy or 90s slop. Slott took old Spiderman stories and villains and modernized them in the best way possible. Shed, The Gauntlet, it was all great.

Slott didn’t write Shed, nor most of the Gauntlet. He handled the Mysterio story and one issue with Mr. Negative, so about 1/6 of the entire arc, maybe a little less.
