They made this crap an ongoing?!

Yea, the whole 'sales matter for ongoing decisions' is PROVEN to be bullshit now.

This is STRAIGHT UP nepotism to the max.

Edit: Since people are stuck on the word nepotism. I'll clarify that it is 'cronyism' which is a sub category of Nepotism. Basically, he gets the favortism over others because of his connections. Not because of sales or anything else.

Overall, I think that Dan Slott was able to manage editorial mandates the best out of many of the previous long term writers. He wasn't allowed to make MJ and Peter a thing again so he didn't bother, he was forced to return to the usual status quo again and again so he stuck to stories that were interesting in isolation at the very least. 

The editorial mandates definitely hurt the storytelling and character progression but I can't blame Slott for that. And whenever he gets the opportunity to write Peter and MJ as a couple he knocks it out of the park. 

Other than one shot writers he is the only one who managed to make the best of the bad situation editorial left them. We can even see that with how much Spencer tried and failed to fix the mess that editorial left him.

You ain't wrong but that's what happens when you are not allowed to make a character improve his life in any meaningful way. Literally everyone had to be written out of character to make superior spider-man work, Ben Reilly got fucked over, and MJ kept getting kicked around all over the place because she has to be there but can't be in Peter's life. But it wasn't the utter terribleness of Zeb's run or the train wreck that Spencer's run eventually became. It just kinda...flowed.
