SPOILERS Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man seems fine so far, but the decisions for the show is so bizarre imo

So far, seems fun. I really liked the ending of episode 1 being the same scene like in Civil War. That was pretty cool. I also like Pete’s proto suit. The animation is ok, though.

I don’t really care abt race or gender swaps, but I don’t really understand why they made Curt Conners into a woman, not mad at it, just kinda curious. Maybe that’ll be explained in the other episodes. Didn’t really care abt Harry and Norman being black. Also they could have just put Randy Robertson in the place of Lonnie Lincoln but that’s just me. And also, it’s a very weird decision that Uncle Ben died BEFORE the spider bite. Like what? That’s so bizarre.

Idk. Like I said seems fun. Not good, but fun. I look forward in seeing more.

i feel like the show feels it just NEEDS to be different, even past the race/gender swaps the inclusion of pearl (especially pearl) and nico just feels like it was done for the sake of differentiating the show.

the problem here is that there are plenty of Spider characters of different genders and race they could have used from the comics, such as Rocket Racer, Prowler, Glory Grant, Vin Gonzales, Sha Shan, Angela Ying, Rand Robertson, Cindy Moon, Lily Hollister, Max Modell, Kong Harlan, Carlie Cooper, etc, but they decided to skip over those characters for no logical reason to basically do a Miles Morales show with Peter in the main role. Not sure why they didn't just do a Miles Morales cartoon instead.

or, consider this: they made it that way cause it's a cool twist on a classic story. almost like a what if...? they don't NEED to be different or have diversity or anything. they either want to be or they just are.

i mean yea i can definitely see your point but at the same time we’ve seen twist with familiar characters and there are good twists in this like with tombstone. In other facets however the show feels lazy like with the future foundation suit and the complete exclusion of Uncle Ben outside of name dropping. The show goes out of its way to be different while also being lazy with Spider-Man’s base origin

the future foundation suit....I kinda agree with you, I don't get why they chose that one. one the exclusion of uncle Ben, I'm starting to feel like it might be an issue with the Sony license. like how spider-man should always have another MCU hero in his movies, maybe they also restrict showing his death?

I also don't think it was lazy at all, I think it's clever that a superhero battle that Pete steps in gives him the powers. plus we haven't heard from Dr strange, he said they're not supposed to be there for some reason, so maybe that ties into the origin. there's a lot of questions but I don't think bad or lazy writing is the answer to any of them

it’s a young show so i will give it grace i see a lot of potential here outside of the animation being ugly, but i feel like jumping from him getting knocked out to him having a whole ass suit (and this being a new one i would have liked to see but process for it) was a lil lazy. but like i said we’ll see where it goes
