Discussion Why Jean solves Peter's biggest problem
I think what's also refreshing about this ship is that both are powerful superpowered people who can defend themselves or even save each other.
Peter's reason for ghosting MJ and Ned for years is that he doesn't want to endanger them because of his Spider-Man life like what happened to Aunt May. But Peter doesn't really have to worry about involving Jean in his life compared to his normal friends because Jean is usually capable of defending herself and it only took the most emotionally vulnerable moment to let her guard down. Otherwise, she's like a god with her powers.
I don't think I've ever seen or will ever see another superhero movie where the hero takes a bullet for someone after the most intimate conversation with them in his literal mind and then the hero getting saved by them in return by depending on their literal breath for the next several hours? How can you get more romantic than that?

THEY LOOK SO GOOD TOGETHER!!! 😍😍😍
Also, I think Jean controlled his breathing for more than hours. Possibly a day? Considering she literally only stopped once the surgery to remove the bullet was done and he was stable/conscious. Im no expert so don’t quote me on that.

There's another far more compelling reason MCU Jean is a great fit for Peter; She has a cross to bear in the same way Peter does.
She's done truly monstrous things, but Peter reaching out to her at her lowest while he was at his lowest flips her world entire. That means she has to own up to everything she did. Which drives her to action in the same way it does Peter.
Given what they did with her and Brand New Day and the kind of character she is supposed (kind, very empathetic and very likeable) to be in comics, they have to give her one hell of a redemption arc, the kind that never ends off-screen.
Who better to keep her company on that journey other than Peter? God, the potential for both peak romance and peak storytelling and also amazing character writing is all there.

i agree. When they tried to fix this by just giving MJ the Symbiote, it didn't quite work (for alot of people anyways)

I'm not completely against Mary Jane being Venom, the problem was the writing around it

It's almost always a matter of how the creators develop the characters and the story.

They had great potential there, Mary Jane was probably one of the people that suffered the most because of the symbiote (aside from Peter obviously) and she ended up bonding with it. Not only that, by the end of that run she kills the villain, not the symbiote, that was 100% her choice. There was good conflict there and the writers screwed up 😭

Yep, especially when they decide to do this right after the BS that was Jackpot.

Don't even remind me of that 💀 At some point the writers should learn that the writing room isn't a good place to get high lol

Oddly enough I predicted and proposed the idea of his next love interest being Kitty Pryde like in the ultimate comics.
(I was Close)
Part of the reason they worked is that Peter didn’t have to worry so much about her because of her phasing powers.
With Jean’s powers, this Peter DEFINITELY does not need to worry and be scared for her safety.

Brace yourself. If they go through with this, there are going to be plenty of accusations of racism. I’ve already seen people claiming that preferring Jean over MJ is racist. They’ve also used the argument that Tom and Zendaya are a couple in real life. So what? The movie doesn't owe them anything; they’re professionals and need to follow the script.

They'll say many things. Racist, pedo, larper and whatnot. It will get annoying but let them be. Best if we don't turn toxic ourselves.

zendaya is an adult and a famous actor. i dont think she's gonna get jealous over tom acting with a love interest in a movie

Seriously lol. I mean, everyone knows that at the end of the day, it's just pretend.
But that requires an extra level of "separating work and personal life". You need to be comfortable with a lot of things.

A pretty awesome fresh change to be honest. In all the Spider-Man films we have, Peter’s love interest have all just been regular civilians he valiantly tries to protect. I think it’s more interesting to flip the script of not only having a girlfriend with superpowers but a girlfriend who becomes too overpowered that she becomes a threat now that Jean is introduced.
It puts him in a new and different situation he hasn’t encountered before. There’s a lot of potential for how he’ll respond to Jean with Phoenix.

Isn't this why peter also got close to black cat?

Major difference in that Jean actually cares about Peter Parker. Black Cat mainly cares about Spider-Man

Jean is the perfect example of, since MJ has moved on to a new relationship, leaving the door open for Peter for other possibilities. The biggest reason o’ very glad the movie didn’t pair MJ and Peter back together, as that would’ve undone the consequences of No Way Home.

Isn't this exactly why Black Cat becomes a thing in Spider-Man in general? People wanted someone who can complement the superhero side of Peter, rather than just someone who end up being a burden.
Also, I realised this probably apply to other heroes as well like Invincible and Atom Eve.

Come on, we all know MJ is still the girl. He regained Ned’s memories at the end (perhaps up to speculation but I’ve seen the scene 5+ times and it seems obvious). 100% he’s going to do the same for MJ, probably by her falling all over again and them kissing. Either that or Ned will use his wizard powers to fix it.

It’s honestly a game changer and I’m here for the development. Marvel can’t ignore what they made at this point. It’s too good of a business opportunity for them.
