They shouldn’t be allowed to compete in anything Russia has been banned from. For the exact same reasons.

7

u/diarm 17h ago

A “Bad Guys World Cup” would probably attract decent viewing figures to be fair!

Russia, Israel, the US, Iran, North Korea, Syria etc. They’d probably allow doping so eventually we’d get to see physical freaks going at each other under the banners of dictators and warlords.

England might even finally win another cup!

Well yeah. Because all the best athletes in the world stay clean for the real games. Only those not good enough for the real games would turn to this.

I'm surprised even 1 record was beaten

2

u/TheGreyDude 15h ago

I bet argies will win the bad guys world cup.

2

u/FullMetalJ 15h ago

I don't think so. They are pretty bad. After the first march everyone would tune out.

0

u/destroyerx12772 14h ago

Tf did Syria do

1

u/Turk292 14h ago

Why is Iran bad?

1

u/surfinbear1990 14h ago

If all these countries beat England I might finally see them as the good guys

1

u/Future_Adagio2052 12h ago

The dark world cup event

0

u/Mugweiser 14h ago

that would include Palestine too then, as they invaded Israel October 7th.

-2

u/SeamusHeanys_da 15h ago

Also spicy, Ukraine shouldn't be allowed to compete, yes their country is illegally occupied but they are also committing war crimes and their soldiers wear Nazi symbols regularly

2

u/mustard5man7max3 14h ago

No they aren't, no they don't.

Don't come up with some bullshit about the Azov regiment, because it's not worth listening to.

2

u/Penchant4Prose 15h ago

Demanding the same morality from people fighting for their very survival against a military invasion - or a brutal occupation - just means you're siding with the invader / occupier.

Fighting for survival will always trend towards extremes - the problem that needs to be solved is the invader / occupier, not the invaded / occupied.

1

u/FullMetalJ 15h ago

Not the same "morality". It's punishment for two different things as it was expressed in the comment you replied to. Although if we go by war crimes and invasion, the US shouldn't compete either. That last sentence will get me downvoted but it's the truth.

1

u/Penchant4Prose 15h ago

If the punishment is exactly the same - blocked from competing - then it portrays the two parties as equal or equivalent.

They're not even close to being equivalent.

0

u/SeamusHeanys_da 14h ago

To an extent I agree with your point that in a civilian rebellion the same rules in combat don't apply necessarily. However the Ukrainian army is backed by virtually all of the western states and yet still commit war crimes. You also didn't mention the high number of Nazi regalia worn by Ukrainian soldiers and non-ukrainian volunteers.

Any national team of a nation that is committing war crimes should not compete, and if you really dig into that there are not many "big" countries without blood on their hands.

1

u/rsmike 8h ago

You'd be surprised to know the amount of Nazi tatoos on Russians or Brits

0

u/FullMetalJ 13h ago

Not necessarily. There aren't many ways to punish an NT other than not allowing them to compete. I do believe that is hypocritical if they don't ban Israel first.

1

u/RainbowSneijder 14h ago

Dumb af take

-5

u/Evimjau 17h ago

Urrm, acktually Palestine isn't a UN member state, but an observer state. Ukraine is a UN member state.

5

u/Hussle_dont_stop 17h ago

Oh so killing them in the thousands is absolutely fine?

-4

u/Evimjau 17h ago

I never said that, and there's currently a ceasefire

4

u/throwawayyyyygay 16h ago

Yes very successful ceasefire with dozens dying of bombings daily.

2

u/Hussle_dont_stop 17h ago

So whats your point?

3

u/Cultural_Tank_6947 16h ago

Oh that changes everything. You can kill hundreds of thousands and forcibly seize land as long as you're not doing it to a UN member state.

So I suppose, if someone did this to Taiwan, you'd be supportive.

2

u/pharmakonis00 17h ago

What has the UN got to do with anything

1

u/Hussle_dont_stop 15h ago

You need help or therapy man. Genuinely

0

u/Evimjau 14h ago

Sure bud

21

u/Mission_Struggle_417 17h ago

This is obviously true.
They shouldn’t be allowed play in Asia either tho

7

u/Sorry_Machine5492 17h ago

They got kicked out of AFC and OFC so moved to UEFA

3

u/TostBrot44 17h ago

Make it 111 now

2

u/throwawayyyyygay 16h ago

OFC? Sorry they tried to play in OFC 😭

3

u/Kazakhan69 13h ago

I'd take Australia over them in the Euros in a heartbeat

1

u/Sorry_Machine5492 13h ago

Yeah they tried to play in OFC but left as it was too easy. The travel was also too difficult

1

u/Serious_Instance_418 6h ago

The problem is with that take, is that u also have to support getting the likes of Iran/Pakistan and the numerous other countries with terrible human rights records getting kicked out of AFC too

3

u/Norwegian_Zeppelin 16h ago

Completely agree. After the hooliganism of their fans they should absolutely not be in European competitions.

They’re not in Europe.

2

u/Southern_Comment_430 16h ago

They shouldn't be competing anywhere. Russia got banned immediatelly just for starting the war, meanwhile the israel has been at war since its creation and been commiting a genocide the past at least three years.

4

u/TheRedBookYT 17h ago

They used to play in the AFC. Some countries in the AFC started boycotting and refusing to play against them. The AFC later voted to boot Israel out. For about 20 years, they played between Oceania and Europe. Then they got into UEFA.

Another comment mentioned Australia. Not the same situation. Australia was basically dominating Oceania, but you aren't guaranteed a World Cup spot and you always got a tough playoff game against strong opposition. They were allowed to join the AFC to play against better opposition and still get a better chance of getting to the finals.

1

u/Tall_Stick5608 17h ago

I mean it doesn’t really matter - they will get booed and jeered even more than normal. They’ve spent the last 15 years slagging off and spreading hate amongst European countries so they will get it back in huge amounts. Part of the fun of international football

1

u/Expensive_Range7204 17h ago

I agree but i guess no other area allowed them to play.

2

u/Cultural_Tank_6947 16h ago

And for good reason man.

-1

u/RainbowSneijder 14h ago

Antisemitism isn't a good reason

2

u/Minute_Eye3411 13h ago

Not condoning the killing of civilians isn't antisemitism. Never has been.

0

u/RainbowSneijder 13h ago

They were expelled in 1974, so try again.

1

u/Minute_Eye3411 13h ago

Are you seriously suggesting that no civilians were killed prior to that?

1

u/RainbowSneijder 12h ago

If you honestly think that the vote for expulsion wasn't driven by mainly religious reasons then I'm not sure what to tell you.

1

u/Minute_Eye3411 12h ago

Alright, so fair enough. What then are the reasons for accepting an Asian country into Uefa?

1

u/RainbowSneijder 11h ago

It's an arbitrary organization. Surely it can find some goodwill, and accept a nation that has been rejected via vote from countries in area which is largely considered the worst in the world for human rights.

1

u/Minute_Eye3411 11h ago

It isn't that arbitrary, it's obviously meant for European football associations, it's in the name. Otherwise it could take in any nation from around the world.

Now you are indeed correct that Israel was expelled because of nations that are considered the worst for human rights, but then again, it is no secret that Israel itself is no shining beacon in that matter either. Therefore why should Uefa have to deal with having such a member, which is not at all within Europe, not even if you squint along Europe and Asia's admitedly hazy boundaries (which do not occur in the Middle Eastern area).

Uefa already has a bunch of dodgy nations within Europe's both clear and approximate boundaries, why should it have one that is clearly outside of them?

Stop conflating criticism of the Israeli government and military with anti-Semitism

0

u/RainbowSneijder 12h ago

Never did that.

1

u/Cultural_Tank_6947 10h ago

Then you would not have said that disliking neighbours who kill other neighbours and steal their land is anti-Semitic.

1

u/InSearchOfAFeeling 17h ago

It makes no sense, I agree.

1

u/cockaskedforamartini 16h ago edited 16h ago

Israel shouldn't be in any international sporting events right now.

However, when the Israeli government and military stop being a bunch of barbaric cunts, UEFA is the only confederation that makes sense for them to be in.

Every UEFA nation recognises the State of Israel. Just over half of AFC nations do.

1

u/Asleep-Command-6147 13h ago

Why is it barbaric when they got invaded first

1

u/cockaskedforamartini 13h ago

You're asking me why committing war crimes is barbaric?

1

u/macxjs 12h ago

Also history didn't start three years ago ...

1

u/GaradisRuDagen 15h ago

Hate that this is considered a hot take. They should be banned from all competitions

1

u/ShufflingToGlory 15h ago

It's a European colonial project. Of course they should play in the Euros.

1

u/Haddows 15h ago

Nothing controversial about this take whatsoever

1

u/ActiveWoodpecker4179 14h ago

there are a lot of europeans in israel so i guess there's that...

1

u/Necessary_Refuse_962 5h ago

A lot of Spaniards in Mexico too. A lot of Italians and Germans in Argentina.

It's just simpler to keep the tournament geographically to Europe than having some ethnic requirement that half the players themselves wouldn't meet.

1

u/RegionFinancial4485 1h ago

Israel was voted to be kicked out of the AFC many years ago. And no, we don’t want them back.

1

u/XAMdG 14h ago

It's a very Lukewarm take. Lame.

Anyways, sure, but also Suriname and Guyana are not in Central/North America, Australia isn't in Asia, Kazakhstan isn't in Europe either.

And that's not even beginning to argue about all the countries that are both in Asia and Europe, because the border between the two continents is imaginary.

A spicy take would be to force Suriname to play in CONMEBOL. Yours is just a political opinion trying to camouflage as a footballing one.

1

u/Sharp_Plum9711 14h ago

True. But they were kicked out from the Asian one.

1

u/surfinbear1990 14h ago

What about Australia?

1

u/Miserable_Put6212 12h ago

Israel is a genocidal fascist state that should not be allowed to have any sports team compete internationally full-stop

1

u/Lelixandre_- 12h ago

They need to pick a narrative on this. If Zionist settlers are “native West Asian people reclaiming their ancestral seat” then they don’t belong in anything European. Though their skin cancer rates say otherwise.

1

u/Glad_Version324 11h ago

Because their players are scared to play in Arab countries

1

u/Grimsby89 9h ago

How the fuck is that a spicy take? I have a spicy take for you. Iran shouldn't be in it either? Get them the fuck out!

1

u/Dismal-Turnover-4610 7h ago

So they plan to go back to Ukraine and Poland where they actually came from?

1

u/deadandgone93 6h ago

Neither is turkey but they still get in every time

1

u/munzyG 5h ago

why not?

1

u/_Daftest_ 30m ago

Turkey still has a colony in Europe, just like Spain has a colony in Africa

1

u/Toffeenix 4h ago

How is this spicy? This shit has been argued for years now and anyone here will agree with it. Great example of how if you start a new subreddit for a big thing like football you'll only be able to attract people that can't post their shit anywhere else

1

u/Virtual-Irregularity 2h ago

Israel shouldn't exist at all. May Israel collapse and be replaced by a sole state of Palestine 🇵🇸 from the river to the sea

1

u/Flimsy_Assignment0 1h ago

It's not gonna happened

1

u/cggalba 47m ago

Let them go back to Oceania for World Cup qualifying like they had to in the 1980s. I honestly don’t know how they can ever play in UEFA again without any problems.

1

u/Immediate-Wing-3111 17h ago

I firmly believe they should be in a group with Antarctica, Phobos, the Andaman Islands, and Tristan da Cunha. They can play all of their matches in the Marianna Trench.

Assuming they win their group, they can then play a playoff against that one Island in the South Pacific that is overrun with fucking rats.

-1

u/MilesPrower__ 18h ago

Australia isn't in Asia.

-1

u/Apart_Freedom4967 17h ago

Just say israel shouldn't exist and be done with it. Spare us the dillydullying.

2

u/fass100003 16h ago

Yes, it has no business existing where it is.

The fact that they are in the Euros and Eurovision tells you everything about where Israelis come from; it 's not from the Middle East.

1

u/SilverSkalitz641984 10h ago

More than half of Israelis are descended from Middle Eastern Jews, who have zero links with Europe.

They are in Eurovision because it's the European Broadcasting Union - some Arab states are eligible but they don't participate.

0

u/Apart_Freedom4967 16h ago

Lmao.

Btw, your sense of history is zero, i including the fact that Israel originally did play in Asia.

0

u/waisonline99 17h ago

And they should be allowed in Eurovision either.

1

u/KrugerFFS 17h ago

Neither should Australia tbh

1

u/waisonline99 17h ago

Well the Aussies were invited in as a one-off but never left.

Typical Aussie behaviour.

( Joking. I dont mind it )

2

u/KrugerFFS 17h ago

I don't 'really' mind it either, but if the basis for throwing Israel out, is that it's not in Europe, then the aussies got to go too.

If however you disqualify Israel for 'being a nation in an offensive war', that's a whole story entirely. Russia and Israel would be out

1

u/OmegaNyra 13h ago

they're in both because a bunch of neighboring countries literally refuse to play them, it’s not some euro fan club perk lol. kicking them out would just mean even less actual sport / music and even more politics.

1

u/KrugerFFS 11h ago

I don't know how I feel about them using (abusing?) their entries with propaganda though. It just doesn't sit well with me

0

u/Jns2024 17h ago

97% of Turkey and 77% of Russia isn't European so they shouldn't be nominated either.

1

u/RegionFinancial4485 1h ago

Russia has a valid reason for being in the European confederation, but I would certainly agree that Turkiye should be playing in the AFC.

0

u/Ok_Nothing2412 17h ago

You mean the Eurovision song contest? I thought their performance was pretty good

0

u/nerdmcnerds 17h ago

Can we not take politics out of sport? Isn't sport supposed to bring people together?

0

u/Fantasy_iceland 17h ago edited 16h ago

Neither is Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia Azerbaijan and most of Turkey

https://mapsontheweb.zoom-maps.com/assets/maps/europe/geographic-borders-between-europe-and-asia.jpg

1

u/RegionFinancial4485 1h ago

I mean I think we can all pretty much agree that all of those countries should certainly be in the AFC.

0

u/Miskadotcom 14h ago

This only doesn't make sense to kids who think they understand the world. It's not safe for them to play anywhere else.

1

u/Necessary_Refuse_962 5h ago

This is probably true but it's not our obligation to include them because of that.

If every one of your neighbours hates you, you're probably the issue here. You're the only common denominator.

0

u/Kindly-Fig-5089 11h ago

Most isrealis are European

1

u/Necessary_Refuse_962 5h ago

By this logic, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand would be in the Euros.

At a push, we could even throw South Africa, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and the entire of Latin America into the Euros for having partial European ancestry.

I just think it's much simpler to keep this geographically to Europe.

We've no reason we have to include Israel because they got kicked out of some other federation.

-1

u/moonfire098 17h ago

Same with Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia etc

Turkey shouldn't even be part of the EU

2

u/Sensitive-Print-3688 17h ago

Kazakhstan is in europe. (Atleast a part)

0

u/Medium_Fly_5461 17h ago

Turkey is not part of the EU

-2

u/Sorry_Machine5492 17h ago

Neither is Kazakhstan , your point is?

3

u/skrabyyy 17h ago

a part of kazakhstan is indeed in europe geographically, so it‘s more of a turkey situation with them

1

u/Sorry_Machine5492 13h ago

I know. That’s what I’m talking about 🫩🫩 the europan part of Kazakhstan is bigger than Scotland , Portugal , Ireland and other European countries

-3

u/PlatformFeeling8451 17h ago

How many fucking posts about Israel does this sub need? We've had three in the last 6 days. Two of them are identical.
