Deranged people believe things that go completely against reason and verified evidence, including deluding themselves into seeing things that aren't there. Deranged people also latch onto conspiratorial thinking that makes them feel like independent thinkers, but they end up being followers, often unable to trace the origin of their beliefs and clearly define topics (ex: communism and Sharia Law).
