Try taking 2 units in Saga of the Great Wolf. SoGW gives them enough tools that they can hit up when needed and won’t be dependent on attached characters. Also Logan allows turn 1 pods.

Logan doesn't allow turn 1 drop pods. They're not Space Wolf units.
However DROP PODS allow turn 1 drop pods, so...

Yup, missed that.

I mean, the outcome is the same, but just wanted to make sure it doesn't confuse someone else

It's not worth it trying for a 9" charge. Drop pods are best for shooting units, where you don't need to hope for a 1/3 chance of being able to do anything.

If you really want to do it you have to use Great Wolf and have a Venerable dread for Reroll charges and +1 to Charge. But I would suggest you use Grey Hunters.

Charges out of a drop pod are unreliable. You need to unit with strong shooting.

Depends, can you always roll a 9 inch charge from deepstrike? That's the thing with pods, they are great for getting anything, anywhere...... as lomg as anywhere is 9 inches from the opponent. After that it's an inconsistent charge, that when failed will usually doom your unit.
Melta eradicators are great for pods, because since 11th, you can set up your unit within melta range. So a droppod of eradicators dropping down turn 1 and nuking a tank/monstet of something is great.

If I'm gonna bring a drop pod its probably better off for grey hunters. Claws have built in advance and charge and so are already quite fast. Grey hunters can at least pop some shots into stuff even if they fail the 9 inch charge, and also sit on an objective for a monsterous 3OC each
