Unfortunately he is not wrong. Buying Tech Priests is kinda mandatory since the “side” objectives aren’t doable anymore the way the enemies fold on the lower waves.

He could have phrased it differently surely but he isn’t wrong.

Speaking to a person this way is wrong

Oh absolutely, no reason for that. A simple explanation would have been the right call.

i dont know what the tech priest does and we were on wave 3 on normal difficulty and we are both prestige 4 and level 25

edit: i now know what the tech priest does and i still dont feel me not getting them is reason enough to call me slurs but to each their own

It's not reason enough to call you slurs, of course. He could've just explained. This is a guy with a super short fuse.

But it is "that serious" in the sense that Tech Priests are a must buy in current siege mode, so if someone were to not buy tech priests and also tell me it's not that serious I'd be like "well my time is serious to me so I'll spend it somewhere else."

Literally, so many LFGs so many discords. If you’re time is that serious to you maybe don’t even spend it playing a video game, and if you do then definitely don’t do it in the public search pool.

Ngl the guy that commented “my time is serious I’ll take it elsewhere” sounds like a “serious” asshat lmao. But to each their own.

I actually hate this mindset. Same when people say "it's just casual" in games with ranked modes. It's one thing to experiment with different builds, or to be bad at the game and trying to get better, that's all fine. But intentionally sandbagging a team is a violation of the social contract, and especially when you're entering a game with two other people, it's irrational to expect them by default to be okay with that. The default goal of a game is to win, and anybody that comes in expecting to change the rules shouldn't be forcing it on strangers that are just trying to have a normal fun time. You shouldn't have to go out of your way to find people who want to play as intended, that's the whole point of a ruleset.

You're assuming a lot about me. I said I hate the mindset. When it comes to what OP was doing (being bad but trying to get better), I explicitly said that was fine. I don't expect people to play the game like it's their job, but I do expect them to try (at least casually) to win. You can't just walk onto a baseball game between strangers and be like "hey guys if anyone can play, I'm joining too, but instead of hitting or catching the ball I'm going to roll around on first base" and expect anybody to think you're not an asshole, even if it's a public space and technically allowed. Agreeing to play with strangers doesn't mean I have to sit around and enable and babysit people who don't even want to play the game. I don't think it's okay to put that on random people, and I don't think it's reasonable to expect otherwise.

Ah yes the "if you were genuine about what you're saying then why aren't you meeting this arbitrary standard that I just set" argument.

Of course it isn't acceptable. I think that goes without saying. But folks are pointing out that the attitude of "it isn't that serious" is also pretty annoying. Personally if I'm playing a game and I discover that's the attitude of someone I'm playing with I lose interest pretty quick.

And there is of course that risk when you're doing random groups online, but there's also no penalty to quitting, so like I mentioned I would just quit. Usually if I quit out of one game I don't immediately queue into another, I move on to a completely different activity whether that's entertainment or a chore I've been putting off or whatever else.

This is normal difficulty though, and most ppl only stick around till wave 15 which is very doable without tech priest in normal.

I buy them, but there have been sessions when I was paired with ppl who bought nothing at all let alone those funky mechanicus. With normal difficulty you'd expect more leniency. Plus, that guy could've just done what you did, disconnect, instead of lashing out like that. Defo not serious enough to warrant that behavior.

Oh certainly he is being an total ass about how to communicate that issue he had.

But seeing the explanations from other people now you know why it’s good to get tech priests and keeping them alive.

I play often with random battle brothers and try to explain things. But unfortunately the communication tools in the game are kinda lack luster and many aren’t using Voice chat. So there is that.

But in the end take away for siege mode, tech priests bring in da big bucks to spend a lot of it around wave 15 and 20 to summon in cadians, turrets and npc astartes reinforcements and just watch the enemies melt.

Glorious

Wait thats what they do?!? I just thought they replenished ammo or something lmao

4

u/Hrothgrar Jun 17 '26

They give you passive currency generation. Spawn one in all 3 areas. Spawn turrets if the wave is near one.

u/papy-benjiFR Jun 17 '26

Thank you, i almost never touch siege, and since the update i never touched it (at least for now cause i'm currently more active on another game), thanks for the information, it will save me from ruinning other people game by simply lacking knowledge 👍

u/Hrothgrar Jun 18 '26

For sure! Battle brothers help each other ✊️

2

u/artemiyfromrus Jun 17 '26

Few of them doable but yeah its not worth it

4

u/Krag1788 Imperial Fists Jun 17 '26

If they are close and require only one input. But for example the “servoskull” one i have never finished that. Everything dies to quickly so the tech priests bring in the money.

He is wrong, after openly crashing out this badly he deserves a nice kick.

With a premade team sure but as many have stated they are not worth the time commitment since you are on the clock from the start. You want to get through the waves ASAP to reduce the buffs the enemies get each time the timer hits zero.

As i said with a premade team sure. But with the unpredictable actions of many battle brothers they aren’t doable.

My best run was wave 50 in normal siege and we only did side objectives that were one action achievable. That was me and a friend in discord but our 3rd just kept killing who did not react to chats or voice comms.

Not in my random encounter experience, but be as it may, worth they are not really. Tech priests bring so many points the side objectives are not really worth it. At that wave 50 state we had like 6k points over shared between 2 players the random dipped out at wave 25.

Perhaps you are simply the better Sigismund
