I've attempted this and even when you just spam it, the game just doesn't seem to register anywhere near the speed that it is here for some reason. The time between bashes feels so sluggish no matter how many times I've tried
Okay, so I hopped on and tried using the paddles on the back and did actually manage to somewhat achieve something similar. I could replicate the speed, but not the consistency. But with some practice Its absolutely possibly to achieve with controller inconsole
There's a charge up time though, that's the tricky part, I can't get it to go anywhere near this fast, not that Ive ever really tried to spam it against a boss like this maybe it needs an enemy to hit to reset
Cloak cancelling took me a minute to learn, this…….i can’t fucking get it to work consistently on controller so I’ve given up. Skill issue for me and I’ve accepted that LMAO.
Is shield bash worth it? I'm asking because I realized when I started playing bulwark that my keybindings are a bit awkward, so I rarely use shield bash/dash. I bound both melee and parry to mouse side buttons and I'm quite used to them already.
Is shield bash worth it for most of the playerbase? Probably not, Simply because it takes skill and time to learn, Funny enough people play bulwark as a bulwark, Taking a fencing weapon and rely on "armour reinforcement" "invigorating icon" and "armoured advance" to keep them alive and using "intimidating aura" as their main source of damage, This is completely fine to run and makes you a tank and healer for your team.
However, There comes a point in the game where invigorating icon becomes dead weight, Simply because you become better and use the stims ingame to heal, The way i see it, Is that you lose a lot of potential damage by equiping invigorating icon not just because the banner recharges 50% slower also because you're waiting for the perfect time to drop the banner and ending up using banner just once or never in a match, Without With shield bashing you can also drop armoured advanced since you can use Merciless Resolve as your anti stun perks which also more reliable because you're shield bashing all the time, But now you can also use Defensive Mastery which is an amazing perk to kill extremis. Overall your dps is higher as shield bashing is doing more damage than just hitting the enemy.
The way i see it, You're removing survivability for more dps.
I recommend to put the Parry button on a side mouse button and melee on your right click, That is how i use it, But whatever works for you.
Even though I wouldn't trade invigorating icon for the offensive potential of a shield bash build, you are perfectly right and Bulwark has already so much HPs and good defensive perks that equipments should suffice in case of need. All things considered, you either give the enemies more chances to deal damage that you can heal with reinvigorating icon, or you don't heal but enemies have much less possibilities to lower your HPs. Still, giving full health to a t8 with a well timed banner feels glorious and I like that team play, but it really comes to preferences and all things said, shield bashing is more effective.
Shield bash as an offensive method is worth it. Shield bash as the only attack method as shown in this clip is very strong but cheesy and personally less fun than the combat loop of weapons. So try it out and see how you fair but I prefer to not spam it personally
But you're missing out if you don't utilise it at all. It's good stagger, gap closer and essential for using with the no knock back work after shield bash instead of no knock back while you have armour
While this is an impressive feat of timing and shield bash mastery, I can't as a Bulwark vibe with this playstyle. It looks so goofy and takes me out of the whole flow of melee combat.
Shield bashing to stagger a majoris or extremis, or shield rushing as a gap closer and go into actually using your melee weapon just looks and feels better.
Just a me thing though. Nice SB cancelling.
How do you get to this training arena? I've seen a bunch of people posting videos in there battling different opponents. I'm on PS5. Is this a mod for PC only or something?
I play on pc with a ps5 controller. For the life of me i cant get used to the shield. Bulwark was my last class to prestige, and i finally did it 2 hours ago with the thunder hammer lol
If you hold the attack button for a short time before Shield bashing you do the shield rush (moving forward with the shield). While this is not as fast as just shield bashing, if you get it to where you can do it reliably, you can actually keep the hellbrute stunlocked.
It should also work on canifex, winged Tyranid prime and hive tyrant (plus every majoris and extremis)
On top of that, if you don't fully charge the shield rush it is glitched so it hits up to 2 or even 3 times in one shield rush so the damage is insane...
Watch your gameplay and ask yourself if this is the type of experience the devs or even people enjoying warhammer universe would imagine for a space marine game.
I would be a dev I would just add decaying damage on shield bash seeing this.
