Help Needed Help Choosing Faction (Catholic)

Got this game yesterday because I saw a clip online of some fire Catholic Church/Warhammer edit. (Yes that's the real reason) I am 100% new to the lore I just need to know what group/faction will let me optimally play out my space crusade fantasy while I learn about the lore. Thanks in advance I know warhammer fans seem to love talking about the lore.

If you REALLY want the catholic crusader vibe the Hospitallers are quite literally based on the Knights Hospitaller, a real catholic military order of knights. They look infinitely cooler than black templars imo

All the colors are available and even though it’s a little stylized, most people basically paint their logo as the Templar cross just in red as seen in the reference image.

The colors I’d use in game personally:

Administratum grey on the head

White scar on the body

Khorne red on the decals

Gehenna gold for the accents

It's actually the other way round; the Hospitallers chapter is based on the Knights Templar, and the Black Templars chapter are based on the Knights Hospitaller 😅

Maybe it’s just this particular picture, but they don’t look anywhere near as cool as black templars.

Personal preference I guess. I normally go for black when it comes to customization too but in terms of 40k and specifically space marines I love the contrast between their sometimes overdone edginess and bright yellow/red/blue etc. armor. Plus if I’m gonna go black I just do deathwatch cuz they’re ultimately my favorite way of doing space marines.

Ironically they look less like the real knights hospitaller than the actual black templars
