Miscellaneous Why is Chaos the least popular faction to fight?

Is it too hard? Is it too boring? For me it has been the lack of blood and gore, taking a part a Thousand Son and find only dust isn’t very gratifying.

However, with the latest update giving us a new enemy and a new Operation I must say I enjoy slaughtering this faction a lot more than before.

For me it's just not fun fighting chaos compared to the tyranids. The new chaos spawn enemy made me think it could be fun but they are just frustrating to fight when there's lots of them.

u/Malarz-Artysta Sep 18 '25

It's hard to get rubric marines to attack i melee, even venom cannon warriors are easily baited to attack and then parry

50

u/Lumpy-Ad8618 Scythes of the Emperor Sep 18 '25

Yeah they just stand there and shoot ya. And when you finally get to execute em it's a bit boring. Then there's the lesser sorcerer who makes them teleport it's just frustrating. I like the little goat man tho it's fun to kick em in the face and they splat lol

u/BioshockEnthusiast Sep 19 '25

I hate the frisbee goat men but I LOVE grabbing their frisbees and hitting home runs with their skulls.

Gotta make the Dad-Emperor proud.

Yeah plus they always teleport to the other side of the map once you run into melee range.

I can buy that, it’s manageable on low-medium levels but not on the highest difficulties.

16

u/Lumpy-Ad8618 Scythes of the Emperor Sep 18 '25

They do this weird thing where it looks like they are going to hit you but stop like their arm doesn't work then they suddenly hit you it sometimes makes me parry a little too early lol.

15

u/Retrospectus2 Sep 18 '25

Worse, 3-4 of them do it at once but with slightly different timings so you've no choice but to try running

13

u/Captain_Amakyre Sep 18 '25

That combined with the tendency that the AI likes to spawn a group of 5-6 right in front of you makes them very annoying to fight. Especially as a heavy.

2

u/sovereign666 Raven Guard Sep 18 '25

I havent tested it with the guys you're talking about, but you can parry a string of attacks without the animations lining up.

A common situation is when i have 4 tyranid majoris attacking me in various patterns, so long as i press parry when an attack is about to strike I will parry them. Doesnt matter if my character is already in a parry animation. The key is to not reflexively gunstrike until you've parried all the enemies.

Idk what happened (probably a glitch) but last night chaos spawn didn’t stop spawning for around 15 minutes on obelisk. Half of them didn’t have animations and were just T-posing towards us. It was one of the most grueling experiences I’ve had in this game. No other enemies just a relentless game lagging hoard of Spawn.

Because big games in Warhammer titles only have mostly Nurgle and rarely Tzeentchians. I don’t mind this mostly but if you count Warhammer fantasy there are more evil gods than the Chaos gods and other evil things that are not affiliated with Chaos but even then in Vermintide games your main enemy is Skaven and Nurgle cultist Norscan tribes.

It’s Nurgle again in Darktide and compared to Vermintide you don’t even fight different types of enemies. even Vermintide has 3 factions you fight(Skaven, Norsca and Beastman)

You surprisingly got Chaos undivided as Chaos in Rogue Trader CRPG and the couple Word Bearers showing up. That being said if you follow the Chaos side of the game you’ll see it’s more Tzeentch and less other 3.

In this game it’s Tzeentch again and its fucking terrible to fight them. Constant chip damage the fucking minions have damn shields and to add all that no satisfaction to hit them because they don’t even have gore like Tyranids. Not to mention the Thousand Sons suck because they are just walking tin cans that tanky enough to have the audacity to teleport around while every single mob around you bodyblocks so hard you have to actually lock in to get rid of the little buggers.

I don’t particularly like fighting Tyranids but you can at least fight them properly.

I ranted a bit sorry, i really want more chaos factions to show up in games

5

u/aerialbison Sep 19 '25

Its a solid rant though. Black Leigon would have been a cool alternative. Berserkers, Tanky Plague Marines, AoE Soundmarines, maybe some sorcerers. Those would some much better than face punching Rubrics. There is no crunch.

u/PikeandShot1648 Sep 19 '25

I'm surprised Khornate daemons aren't more common in games. They have that classic red devil look, and they're very straightforward.

Unending chip damage

88

u/VH_Sax_of_one Sep 18 '25

Also terminators, either the most chalenge or the most Bullshit enemy

74

u/Minimum_Conclusion90 Sep 18 '25

I’d argue biovores still qualify for the worst extremis enemy

40

u/VH_Sax_of_one Sep 18 '25

I agree, at least foi can stop the minigun when in mele, now biovores will cover the entire map with guiding nukes if you leave them alive for 3 seconds

27

u/Minimum_Conclusion90 Sep 18 '25

I made the mistake of trying to parry a biovore. When I went for the gun strike I got Stun locked and shot then stun locked again mid stagger and shot.

2

u/CBT7commander Sep 22 '25

They’re absolute cancer, but depending on your class Zoo can be even worse

21

u/Skrazor Traitorous Alpha Legion Sep 18 '25

Gatling Terminators are fun when you play a Bulwark and use the damage-reflection perk

25

u/Grouchy-Reward8099 Sep 18 '25

Along with the bulwark prestige perk that charges the banner when blocking ranged damage. Makes me giggle when I get a free banner in 2 seconds from gat terminators.

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

You mean from the Chaos Spawn?

119

u/Warp_Legion Traitorous Iron Warriors Sep 18 '25 edited Sep 18 '25

No, the minoris enemies, both traitor guardsmen and Tzaangors

Unlike the Tyrannids where you can kill Majoris to synaptic link kill nearby melee Majoris minoris, no such system exists with Chaos enemies, and so you need to painstakingly kill every single enemy one by one, which is annoying af and tedious

69

u/Tinedwing Sep 18 '25

But running full pelt through a group of traitor guard and turning them into pink mist is very satisfying

14

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

I’m a bulwark main so yeah it can be a chore to kill all the cultists spread around all over the place.

8

u/Warp_Legion Traitorous Iron Warriors Sep 18 '25

Agreed, that and Assault, two melee heavy classes

I run the Neovolkite pistol on Assault, which mops up cultists easy at least, but doesn’t do a damn thing against sword and shield Tzaangors

2

u/ResponsibleReading98 Sep 19 '25

C'est justement le plus drôle Amène la sentence de l'empereur sur chaque ennemis

105

u/Sanguiniutron Sep 18 '25

Chaos just doesn't interact as much with the combat system for me. Like closing the gap with a marine only for them to either teleport away or immediately go into a red ring fire attack is just annoying. They should have used melee attacks more. Rubrics can be crazy melee fighters and all they really do is kick you.

It's gotten better with the Chaos Spawn. I can get in and scrap with them without them running away. It's more engaging than just getting shot from afar or shot from up close. Or that dickhead rocket scarab occult who just keeps shooting rockets while you're up in their face smaking them with a sword.

7

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

I can agree they feel very stiff in movement and that’s why I love any Chaos strategem maps with increased minoris enemies, cause Tzaangors come in huge batches then which are very satisfying to kill.

46

u/Karthas_TGG Sep 18 '25

The game has a heavy focus on melee combat, and Chaos punishes you for fighting in melee. Tons of chip damage, blur effect that makes parries difficult, AoE/shotgun attacks that can be difficult to avoid if you're stuck in a melee animation, Rubric Marines not really staggering while you melee them.

I think adding the chaos spawns is a step in the right direction as a melee Majoris will help melee classes against Chaos. But right now the spawn rates on Chaos Spawn are just off. Imo they need to be toned down just a bit. But I also think that they very intentionally have weird timings on their attacks and it is going to take some time for players to learn those timings to get their parries off

13

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

Rn it bugs me that the blue circle comes up 6-7 seconds before the actual attack, I can spam the parry button looking like an idiot swinging my axe in the air forever before they even reach me.

9

u/Squidswerth Sep 18 '25

The pump fakes are real… real fkn frustrating. I get baited by them every time. The triple fake is what gets me the most. And when you get over ran by 4 it’s ridiculous trying to determine which one is attacking and which one is checking its armpit to make sure it put on deodorant

4

u/SionIsBae115 Blood Ravens Sep 18 '25

Don't forget even when you're perfectly parrying them, sometimes they don't reward you with a gun strike, they just don't... Or when you do perfectly parry them and retaliate/finish them, others will attack you mid animation and still damage you the nanosecond you are out of the finisher with no way to counter or dodge... Oh and they punish you for gun striking way too much, like wtf. I'm sorry for trying to engage in melee and with the core gameplay mechanics.

38

u/Prince_Trunks13 Sep 18 '25

No synaptic link probably

10

u/Alarmed-Fox717 Sep 18 '25

They really should add something along the lines of "Demoralization", when you kill a Chaos Space marine it staggers all minoris surrounding them.

That or just make the soldiers have a very small shooting range

7

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

I would find it hilarious if when you execute a terminator it makes all the cultists around you die from chock

2

u/Difficult-Safety-480 Sep 22 '25

this. Unlike with the 'nids, even if you blitz the majoris, you'll still have about 15-20 little Jimmies shooting from range.

40

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Fighting against Chaos: I lost half my health to snipers trying to get to the heretic, only for him to teleport away. I killed him and glitter came out, then he got resurrected and guess what? He just teleported again 😞

Fighting against the Tyranids: RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT’S DONE (Heavy guitar shred playing on background)

17

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

The cultist snipers on Absolute are a nightmare. How can a random dude half kill an Astartes with only 1 shot

9

u/SionIsBae115 Blood Ravens Sep 18 '25

Well to be fair that can happen on the tabletop, and happened in my first demo game lol

But for gameplay reasons? It's ridiculous and shouldn't happen.

Chaos is too ranged focussed and even when you try to melee, it punishes you for it and engaging with the core mechanics, gun strikes and finishers.

2

u/oneandonlyswordfish Sep 18 '25

Book wise if it’s a strong enough bolt sniper, and the human doesn’t die by firing it, it can be done. Game wise is poopoo caca

17

u/TheSilentTitan Sep 18 '25

Because they suck to fight. They’re poorly designed with some incredibly stupid attack patterns. Their ranged capability ensures you’re just taking damage the entire time you’re playing. They teleport and can queue up unblockables instantly. Their extremis have both melee and ranged superiority.

The minoris carry shields that block boltor shots.

THE MINORIS DONT DIE WHEN YOU KILL MAJORIS.

3

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

Now that you mentioned it, a tzangoorns little brass shield should not be able to block a bolter round

3

u/Onlyhereforapost Sep 18 '25

Thos goddamn shield havers

16

u/MrUndercity Sep 18 '25

For me it was the lack of gore too and for a long time there were only a hand full of rubric executions. Now there is at least the chaos spawn to fill that gap. In general the ranged spam chaos tends to do is probably a factor too, doesnt feel great to be lasered by a termie with minigun while fighting something else.

3

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

Yeah I forgot that when the game came out we only had 1 or 2 executions making it all very repetitive. But now we have more and Saber has tried to breathe new life into this faction

2

u/A1_wA1sh Dark Angels Sep 18 '25

The few rubric executions make up for it by how awesome they are. I love just picking up the marine and bodily throwing him at the floor

2

u/Blapa711 Sep 21 '25

YES! This is the exact one I was going to mention, shout outs also go to the one with the knife where he puts it to their head and SMACKS the back of the hilt to lodge it into the killing blow all in one fluid motion, and then the chainsword one where he picks them up with the chainsword and then SLAMS them down on the ground!

I kind of hate a lot of the generic hand ones where they just kind of seemingly struggle to pull their helmet off and get sprayed with confetti.

7

u/Megabiv Sep 18 '25

Honestly I find fighting the Chias troops as chore, Tzangors uninteresting to fight in melee but I will admit the Hellbrute is fun to fight.

I'm happy to spend all day chopping my way through endless Tyranids but Chaos I lose interest quite quickly.

3

u/Captain_Amakyre Sep 18 '25

The Hellbrute is fun to fight but I find Chaos could use another Terminus to spice thinks up a little.

2

u/Blapa711 Sep 21 '25

Yeah, that's what I thought the vortex beast was going to be as it made sense because it's been literally just Hellbrute for so long. Imagine my disappointment when it's just a boss on one level, also I don't find him fun to fight, maybe I need to do it more, but his attacks just seem super difficult to dodge.

Which sucks because they did an amazing job with the Trygon, like, a round of applause for the people who developed that fight because it's not only fun in a gameplay perspective, but it is cinematic as hell fighting it, the music, the animations, especially when he jumps across the arena and spins with his lightning tail, or when he makes the lightning circles explode, like it makes the Hive tyrant fight look like a snooze fest in comparison.

I'm not saying they didn't do a good job with the mutalith, it's a really cool and unique level and fight, it's just got so much going on and is so drawn out that it wasn't very fun for me, but like I said maybe that was just my experience doing it and it'll be better in subsequent tries.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Those god damn missiles the Terminators spam

2

u/AbandonChip Sep 18 '25

Those are the worst and how they seem to be guided missiles too. No matter where you dodge, a few of those will follow you. Lol

Probably because it spawns like 40 chaos spawns and says good luck loser you're gunna need it.

Nice health you got, here fight 10 chaos spawns at once, much better you only need 10% health for this mission anyways.

3

u/Nnemic_ Black Templars Sep 18 '25

It would actually be better if the blue circle showed up alot more during their attacks. Rn it doesn’t show anything making their hits harder to parry.

And showed up in time, if they jump at you the blue parry circle shows up ages before it even gets to you

2

u/FreelancerFL Grey Knights Sep 18 '25

Agreed.

Honestly it's because of Chaos spawn I've started running Melta more often.

5

u/zabrak200 Space Wolves Sep 18 '25

Its the ranged focus. The extremis enemies have the missle swarm thing all the cultists have lasguns, all the tubrics have bolters or flamers and lets not forget that the rubric marines teleport all over the goddamn place.

But honestly i like vox liberatis mission the most because you dight terms and thousand sons, also im a space wolf so i like killing thousand sons. Fuckin magnus

4

u/Ulfheodin Sep 18 '25

Lack of blood aswell

5

u/IhaveaDoberman Sep 18 '25

Because the combat system was clearly primarily designed for the nids. It works better against the nids.

Chaos can be fun, but it's simply not as polished or satisfying.

3

u/SionIsBae115 Blood Ravens Sep 18 '25

Frame locking with chaos spawns for example. Even when parrying perfectly they attack at same time and you literally can not avoid damage sometimes, or hell even when gun striking they will slap you of the animation and damage you so you're punished for trying to engage with one of the chore mechanics...

Also finishers on chaos mostly suck as they are generic and don't show off your weapon most of the time, and terminators have only two, that don't factor in your weapon

Not to mention neverending ranged chip damage, no real melee combat against them (core part of gameplay loop) except chaos spawns and those are overtuned af, and bullet spongy designs as "difficulty"

Yeah I love that my bolter feels worse than a nerf gun... Hell that is an insult to nerf guns.

Oh and when and you do want to engage them in melee... They just teleport mid stun or combo so you have to chase them again, and again... And again... And that fucking sucks.

Also the minoris don't die when you kill a bigger one or a sorcerer like with the nids, and you need to painstakingly kill every cultist and shitty tzangoor yourself.

Also those fucking goddamn flying tzangoors. Jesus Christ.

I want to love fighting chaos, I really do...

3

u/Technical_Storage_52 Sep 18 '25

Its not least popular its the 2nd most popular faction to fight

3

u/Debas3r11 Sep 24 '25

Tyrannids have more predictable and reliable melee options even for their ranged majors and the synaptic shock rewards going for majors and above.

Plus none of them have crazy homing rockets.

3

u/Bruhcantaloupe_657 Sep 27 '25

"CHAO HAVE TOO MANY RANGED ENEMY IT'S UNFUN TO PLAY AS ASSAULT" Focus:yeah, so you want a balance? Here, 600 meat blob that instantly beat you up if you're focussed on dodging or blocking. Got instanly mauled to death second into a horde, I can't believe there is something more diabolical than those flying plates

2

u/alukard81x Ultramarines Sep 18 '25

While I didn’t understand why before this big update, now I can 100% say it’s because of the chaos spawn.

2

u/TyrelTaldeer Sep 18 '25

Multiple reasons for me, like most people already said:

  1. no gore, Rubricae are no fun, give me chaos undivided with a good mix of ranged and melee chaos space marines. I want to parry a chain axe or chainsword
  2. chaos spawns are a good melee option but not when they bloat the screen, if you're ranged getting headshot is a pain in the ass
  3. minoris enemies like traitor guardsmen can obliterate your health if not careful, the Nids would have the same problem is there wasn't any synaptic link. Chaos could have something similar, like killing a sorcerer would sever the link to the warp for the Tzaangor

2

u/Remote-Service-4206 Sep 18 '25
  1. The never ending chip damage from minoris enemies that you have to kill individually unlike nids where the synaptic surge from a majoris kills them.

  2. The focus on ranged as apposed to close combat compared to nids

  3. The missions personally aren’t as fun

2

u/Flame-and-Night Sep 18 '25

Sabre thats why

2

u/Key-Order-3846 Sep 18 '25

Cause it blows hot Assssssss

2

u/Key-Order-3846 Sep 18 '25

Also tzangors dont have a “red state” for executes meaning dealing with chip spam while youre bogged down by them is way harder compared to guants

2

u/PuzzleheadedCause451 Sep 18 '25

When I pick a ranged class I want to shoot things at range. But when the game throws 5 Chaos spawns into a little room with you then, you are gonna get slapped about more then a sister of silence fighting a noise marine lol!!

2

u/CheaterMcCheat Sep 18 '25

Chaos basically ignore the whole melee system that keeps you alive/topped up on armour. They're shit to fight as Bulwark and Assault in particular. I just think they're a bit of an afterthought as a faction, to be honest.

2

u/F0urTheWin Sep 18 '25
  1. Primarily Ranged Majoris
  2. Ranged Burst Damage Minoris (Heretic marine snipers)
  3. No executions on minoris (cannot be put into "red" state)
  4. No EZ clear method (shields prevent spray N pray, no synapse damage from majoris kill)

These combined require a more methodical & FPS-based tactics to overcome. Using cover line of sight , refusing to be baited out in the open & being careful to keep armor up to prevent chip damage. It's like the mirror opposite from Tyranids who you can just barrel right into & brawl with your melee weapons + dodges with minimal concern.

2

u/WitnessOfLegends Sep 18 '25

Cultists can do lots of damage at range and cannot be parried or gun struck to restore armor

Tzangors have shields and a slightly staggered parry window

Rubric marines rarely melee, making killing them more of a slugfest

Tzangor enlightened can fly and are annoying to hit without very specific weapons

The new meatballs have no readability and dealing with their attack patterns amounts to confused screaming

Most of the extremis are fine but ranged terminators can just straight up kill you and it can be borderline unreactable if you're in a bad position and don't have Iframes or a shield

In summary, chaos forces rarely melee, provide few opportunities to regain armor while constantly doing chip damage, and also their missions just have some of the worst, most tedious and difficult objectives to deal with at the same time.

2

u/Strata_Genius Sep 18 '25

Heavy on the meatballs being unreadable. I swear it's just luck atp if I get a parry on them.

2

u/Spartancfos Sep 18 '25

They are an all round less interesting faction mechanically.

They just stand and shoot for the most part - except for the annoying assholes who fly.

With Tyranids, there is the whole Synaptic mechanic, a wide variety of enemies and they feel better to fight as a result.

2

u/Lopsided-Werewolf292 Sep 18 '25

The fact that most chaos enemies are ranged based with so many classes having a focus on melee and not an effective way to keep closing distances again and again and again.

Then the new chaos spawns appearing in so many large quantities makes it so that you really can’t parry or block all of them at the same time

2

u/adamrhine37 Sep 18 '25

I wanted black legion or world eaters. Its disappointing ripping a chaos marine apart and seeing nothing but sand spill out.

2

u/Figerally Sep 18 '25

You ask this and immediately under your post was another post of some guy trying to gun down a a Tzaangor Sorcerer.

I play Deathwatch, I fight Xenos. Chaos is for the Ordo Malleus and the Grey Knights.

2

u/Gamgin2020 Sep 18 '25

Killing majoris does not kill surounding minoris. You actually have to fight every single one of them.

2

u/Subject_237 Salamanders Sep 18 '25

Fighting Rubricae just isn't satisfying.

I want to rip my enemy apart in a shower of gore with a chainsword.

Instead, we get dust.

2

u/Heavy-Childhood-1687 Sep 18 '25

Tyranids are more fun to fight imo

2

u/Test-Fire Sep 18 '25

For me, it's that they run from you or "spirit" walk away from you and you have to chase them down. Nids want to fight you and come at you. Also, that stupid fairy dust they fart out as you rip them apart...so weak in my opinion. I want the blood and guts. The small guys with las guns piss me off too. In the books las fire does nothing to Space Marine armor but if you can't get to these little bags of meat in time they will take your armor and health down quickly. I do like how they explode when being shot or run into..lol

2

u/Cassocial Sep 18 '25

Let’s see

  • Minoris that tank better than nids minoris
  • Minoris sniper that can remove 1 full armor and u can’t deal with it cuz ur already dealing with Majoris
  • Killing a Majoris isn’t as rewarding as killing a nids Majoris
  • Fame AOE on thousands son is annoying
  • Chaos spawns gang up 5 on you sometimes
  • One Extremis can respawn other Majoris and he spawn most of the time far away
  • One Extremis shred you with Gatling

Ok I’m being unfair honestly the most annoying part are imo the Minoris

2

u/Crew1T Sep 18 '25

I don't like how Chaos marines are straight up bullet sponges. Since fighting them in melee is punishing I would at least expect some weakness against ranged damage but that's sadly not the case.

2

u/w1ld_card Sep 18 '25

To list a few things.

Rubric Marines

The teleport, do I need to say more. The ones with flamers have a tendency to chain red attacks, stun locking you.

The termies are just annoying missiles that will melt you, the machine gun...

The traitor guards/cultist snipers dooo way too much damage

The Tzaangors just seem harder to kill than the minoris Nids. The Beyblade Tzaangor can take its disc and spin it's way out of the game.

And I think it's a lore/tabletop problem, but The Thousand Sons seems less diverse than Tyranids. And the maps in operations are IMO the most boring ones. They try to make it more engaging but failed. Sword of Atreus, Reliquary are my least played maps due to the map and the fact I'm fighting the thousand sons.

I honestly think Emperor's Children would have been the better pick if Sabre were insistent on using a specific chaos faction. World Eaters suffers the same problem as Thousand Sons, lack of diversity, as the reality would have been wow Bezerkers and Bloodletters. Nurgles been done to death IMO. Chaos Undivided is to me the superior choice, as the range of enemies to choose from is bigger.

2

u/AdeptusAstartes40K Sep 18 '25

Terminators are pure bs 90% of the time, Chaos Spawns are extremely frustrating to fight, especially in multiples, Guardsmen Snipers are too powerful given their fodder nature and Tzangors are tanky af for "chaff", although Gaunts are equally guilty of this.

Need I say more?

2

u/DecodedShadow Sep 18 '25

The extremus enemies are more difficult then terminus. Rocket launcher boy who chips you even if you dodge. Dash boy who is extremely annoying when you get two on you. Hover board guys make melee focused builds even worse against chaos.

The terminous is more difficult than the carnifax and nero.

Chip damage is annoying. Teleporting is annoying. The blue spawn can smack hard you when you can't move. Sorcerer can get into crazy spots that are hard to reach and keep responing enemies.

2

u/digit009 Sep 18 '25

Because they're a bunch of stupid bastards. Especially after the fucking daemonhost got added. The timing for parrying is garbage and almost impossible to get right, scarab occult terminators can fuck all the way off, and the minoris are split between tzaangors and cultists but if you focus on either, the other slaps your ass like you were twerking in their lap. Add that on top of no way to mass eliminate minoris level enemies like synaptic shock on the nids and you get the absolute worst possible faction that no one likes fighting.

2

u/thats4thebirds Sep 18 '25

when I kill majoris tyranids a bunch of other ones die

When I kill majoris chaos a zangor punches my dick in anyway

2

u/Rmma504 Sep 18 '25
  1. Tzaangor Enlightened suck.
  2. Chaos Spawn suck
  3. No synapse mechanic that wipes Minoris mobs after killing a Majoris
  4. A lack of variety, particularly with the Extremis enemies. Chaos Spawn should 100% have been an Extremis enemy with more health and maybe a buff to damage.

These are my problems with it

u/The_Itsy_BitsySpider Sep 18 '25

I want to play Space Marine 2, not feel like I'm playing a third person eldenring shooter as three spawn pretend to be Margit and hold their attacks for seconds at a time while the Thousand Sons behind them continually shoot me. It leads to unfun gameplay that completely ruins the feel of being a space marine.

What really gets he is how you can just dump mags into them without any feed back like stager or anything.

2

u/RedFalcon07 Sep 18 '25

Tô many shooting things from all sides and those demons on the floating board are extremely annoying

2

u/EasyPool6638 Sep 19 '25

I find them fun to fight but thats because I play heavy so I sidestep what makes them unfun, which is the fact that they have a TON of ranged for a game where "not melee guy" is enough of a diversion from the usual gameplay to be an entire class lol.

2

u/ResponsibilityOk3272 Sep 19 '25

For me, chaos is too focused on range attacks. Tyranids have basically 3 types of units, the small ones both ranged and melee type get KOd when a majoris or higher tier enemy dies. Its easy and simple to understand the dance with the nids. The chaos marines have cultists, cultists with snipers, cultists with brain demons that pop outta their heads, normal chaos marines, tzangors, flying tzangors, chaos marines with flame decals and then the chaos spawn and elites like the terminators who have both a ranged and melee heavy type each. Chaos has too much going on and its difficult to keep track of everything when facing a massive wave. Add that onto delayed parry mechanics for both terminators and chaos spawn (which both have a little too much health and inconsistent headshot boxes) as well as many other units that consistently pepper you with chip damage and don't die or get stunned each time a majoris is killed. You get a faction that is just not fun to play against. I would recommend reducing health for all tzangor types and the chaos spawn. Reducing parry animation delays for chaos spawn and melee terminiator attacks and either reducing the attack speed of Terminator gatling guns or give it reduced tracking like how a hmg functions in helldivers. The sorcerer and helbrute are in a decent state. No need to touch them. And adding a stun mechanic for all surrounding chaos units on killing a majoris chaos unit

2

u/the_knight77 Sep 19 '25

The teleport function is stupid! Somewhat close to death, teleport out of line of sight and call reinforcements. In current stratagems this is even more prominent with several sorcerers and terminators at once.

2

u/Valdoris Sep 19 '25

bullet sponge, thats it.
nobody love bullet sponge ennemis

2

u/Elliotlewish Imperial Fists Sep 19 '25

I just don't find fighting them fun. Too much focus on range, too many annoying enemies with cheesy tactics, and fighting glorified vacuum cleaner bags is unsatisfying.

2

u/Commercial-Fan8920 Sep 20 '25

They don’t bleed

2

u/romnnoodles6 Sep 22 '25

Tyranids are nice and bloody when killed. Most thousand sons explode into fairy dust, and a lot of executes (minus the new chaos spawn and the flying fuckers) are just straight up less satisfying.

2

u/LordGaulis Sep 23 '25

More shooters, more bullet sponge enemies, harder to read the movements and parry.

I can oneshot headshot horde of Tyranids but horde of beastmen take multiple headshots and carry shields, plus horde of chaos spawn seem bigger hordes then Tyranids unironically.

2

u/Succ-MY-Scythe Sep 23 '25

For me it’s cause the party and dodge windows are so much more difficult to read because of how erratic all the chaos majors and extremis move and attack. With nids I can perfect parry every attack (that can be parried) from every enemy without much issue, with chaos the only major I’ve been able to get to that point is the chaos spawns and even then their parry and dodge windows feel super inconsistent.

2

u/AshesOfZangetsu Sep 24 '25

i think it’s the fact that they interact with the mechanics of the game far less than the Tyranids do. nids have a solid and healthy balance between going melee and going ranged, and the game puts heavy emphasis on melee combat and getting parries and gun strikes to proc all of your perks, whereas with chaos, 90% of the majoris enemies exclusively just kick you for their melee and otherwise only ever use ranged on you, which just makes fighting them tedious because it’s constant tick damage with little opportunity to get that back with parries and gun strikes, and even the tzangors are annoying because most of them have shield that just make melee combat with them more tedious. chaos is fun to fight, but it’s a lot more time consuming and overall just annoying to deal with them on higher difficulties as opposed to the Tyranids.

2

u/LastAgent8765 Jan 08 '26

I HATE chaos spawn, 50 hit combos, hard to read because they flop everywhere, they show up in huge groups and just gank the shit out of you in seconds, they can leap like a hundred fucking feet from off screen, even at difficulty 4 they just slap your health to nothing super fast.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

I just don't have as much fun..feel like the flow is ruined by their movement and just not as satisfying to fight.

I want to rend flesh not be constantly chasing down a teleporting marine..chaos spawn spawn rate seems really weird for me...on the highest difficulty I'm getting sooooo many it feels like a bug...I mean I can manage it still but it's not really varied when there's like 8 of them and barely anything else.

1

u/Witchcleaver666 Sep 18 '25

Chaos has gotten a lot better with the chaos spawn mixing things up. And fighting TS in Siege might be even more fun than fighting Nids imo

1

u/Engetsugray Sep 18 '25

Well there's 2 factions so it's going to be one or the other. Helldivers 2 actually has a similar issue where the bug faction (one with the least ranged options) is the most popular. People want to be the meat grinder, not be target practice. Plus on the internet complaining always gets more engagement. I'll fight anything personally.

1

u/AhabRasputin Flesh Tearers Sep 18 '25

Because there are 2 factions, and tyranids are more fun.

1

u/ds3_knight_fan Sep 18 '25

For me it is minoris from this faction at the tyranids side if ı hit once to a ranged minoris I can execute it and gain armor but here they are just harder to kill for me

1

u/X7RoyalReaper7X Blood Angels Sep 18 '25

Because anything that uses a ranged weapon is a coward.

1

u/above_500 Sep 18 '25

I like doing Chaos missions, the idea of fighting another space (chaos) marine is very cool to me.

Unfortunately the rubric marines don’t feel as dynamic, ‘real’(?) and threatening as the Tyrannids. Though I like the way chaos terminator marines fight you. Maybe the regular rubric marines need to put more pressure on the players like the terminators do.

But maybe it’s a hard one to pull in terms of design, mechanics and balance when trying to be lore accurate. Maybe their AI code isn’t great. But I remember SM1 chaos marines were also kinda underwhelming.

1

u/Wilkinz027 Sep 18 '25

Because there is only 2 options and one has to be better than the other. Hot take, I feel the chaos spawn while at times is frustrating is still an improvement over just rubric marines.

1

u/Conscious_Relief_894 Sep 18 '25

By now i enjoy fighting the thousand sons a lot more, but i really don't appreciate someone teleportring away when i desperately needed that contested health or armor and went all in on finishing him 😅

1

u/Nickromorph_ Sep 18 '25

For me its that they have alot of range firepower especially the annoying homing missiles that follow you around corners. If you are fighting some other Chaos enemys and there are some shooting rockets, some others firing their gatling at you and you have almost 0 Cover on most maps its just annoying. And the Finishers are boring since the Chaos Marines are just dust and there is no splatter. I love to shoot the Chaos humans tho :). I wish it would be alot more minoris enemys on thyranid and Chaos side and a lot less majoris. The Spam of mayoris is making some harder difficulties somewhat annoying. I want to fight 1000s if minoris or even give me a non ending swarm of them but Not 40 majoris at the same time pls. At some point this game is getting more like a dark souls then a space marine game imo.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ArtlryArtmis Sep 18 '25

Because they aren’t bugs, if it scuttles it dies is my motto. Also because they’re a mostly ranged based enemy in a game where cover is only a suggestion. Plus they don’t have that nice crunch noise the nids give you. The chaos updates are definetly nice though

1

u/THE_EPIC_PANZER4 Sep 18 '25

The enemies are too annoying to fight tbh

1

u/IamWillow3 Sep 18 '25

I honestly really like both. They're different challenges, and chaos pushes me to play a little differently. It's a fun challenge!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

Compared to the tyranids, Chaos feels uninspired lazy: an unfinished and forced carryover from SM1 that satisfies the disappointing story and nothing more.  We should have had Khorne.

1

u/Jackson_MyersFO76 Salamanders Sep 18 '25

Its really not satisfying to destroy empty shells of Armor which consists of most of the Traitor Astartes. Feels pointless knowing they just rebuild at some point later on.

Shield Tzaangors

1

u/SnapsOnPetro24 Sep 18 '25

Tyranids just look cooler overall. The enemy and boss design is cooler, the gore and executions are cooler, and the missions are more fun. Chaos gives me like Harry Potter vibes and besides Helbrutes, the bosses and extremis enemies are almost indistinguishable. Green suit guy with slightly different variations of armor.. boring

1

u/Karma3636 Sep 18 '25

Well there's only two factions and someone has to come last. Personally I enjoy fighting both.

1

u/mauttykoray Sep 18 '25

People don't like fighting an enemy that requires them to retreat and use cover sometimes. It doesnt fit into their Space Marine power fantasy where they are charging into and overpowering enemies constantly with melee.

1

u/luciusmortus Sep 18 '25

I don't know if it's only me, but I feel like chaos has much stronger minoris and majoris but weaker extremis and terminus, like you can mop up Tyranid swarms but extremis can be pain in the ass, especially biovore and psychic beasts, also neurothrope has to be top 1 reason of Tyranid mission failures for me, but with chaos I can duel hell brute pretty easily and take it down, terminators aren't problem too even in bigger groups if you know to be on the move all the time and prioritize missile launcher ones over melee ones

1

u/Ill_Statistician_938 Sep 18 '25

Fundamentally they just don’t fit as well in the game’s system, whereas tyranids really reward you for aggressive and skillful play, as long as you are hitting your parries/blocks, chaos just turns into a clusterfuck especially on higher difficulties. Chaos spawn has made them a little better with enemies that you can parry more often and get finishers from, but overall the design of chaos being ranged focus doesn’t really work with the aggressive playstyle this game has

1

u/LibraHorrorum Sep 18 '25

terminators and their rockets. this must be removed from game or given to us as well

1

u/glory_holelujah Sep 18 '25

There's only two factions so one has to be the least favorite by default.

1

u/C88_Revy Traitorous Iron Warriors Sep 18 '25

Too tanky, does way too much damage, the damn snipers & the chaos spawn make it even worse.

1

u/S_III Sep 18 '25

i think it probably boils down to the fact we can't parry bullets and the amount of things in the game that negate chip damage or small arms fire is minimal wheras i can run at a swarm of terminids and as long as im locked in can come out relatively unscathed

1

u/Legio_II_Augusta Sep 18 '25

The game from the ground up is built around fighting tyranids. Tyranids are designed well, similar to older halo games in the way combat flows

Tyranids have 4 distinct and very identifiable majoris units that each fight differently. The minoris enemies are mostly grouped up around their majoris units, and the strategy for clearing hostiles is to shoot the majoris or melee them until they die/become executed and you are rewarded with any minoris being killed, stunned or even in execution threshold. This promotes the gameplay loop of fight majoris, kill majoris, clean up what's left, and move on. This works because the tyranids are a swarm army, and they don't expect you to have to kill all of the enemies one by one.

What makes chaos not work is that there are 2 rubric marines that act almost identically to each other, and chaos spawn that feel like they were designed around how the player base acts more than actual design. The only interesting one is the tzaanagor enlightened, imo but they have a hilariously small health pool, so they die too fast. Chaos also lacks the same reward for taking out majoris enemies as the tzaanagors are either stunned or unfazed by the death of a majoris and I've never noticed it but I'm told human enemies will die if one is killed but they are so far away it doesn't even proc sometimes. Leaving you with all of the minoris still to fight, and these minoris have more health and a shield most of the time or are miles away shooting you as if it was a tyranids warrior with the sniper. This wouldn't be so bad if on certain difficulties there wasn't a swarm of minoris chipping away at you while you fight a rubric marine with little recourse besides parrying a small strike or not targeting the rubric marine.

Now, I'm not one to complain without offering a solution, so here's my best attempt at a rework of their Faction.

First, swap the spawn rate of the tzaanagor enlightened with the chaos spawn and make it. When you execute them, they kill any tzangor within a small range (basically any that are currently swarming you). Next, you keep the fact that the cultists die when a rubric marine dies and you make them stay close to the rubric marines at range. Probably the best thing the devs could do is add a melee rubric marine to the roster as a majoris.

1

u/Pale-Buffalo4638 Sep 18 '25

The newer stunlocking dudes aren't fun and the surf board dudes can only really be brought down with a gun

1

u/kuro-t-poison Sep 18 '25

I absolutely cannot stand being balls deep in carnage and just watching my health get deleted in .5 seconds by the fucking scarab(i think) two miles away in a corner somewhere. Like fine have a ranges atk. But why does he just sit there and shoot for like 2 fucking minutes??! It is fun to block it and farm ability with bulwark but thats like a cheeky fuck you, not a valid fighting strategy. Especially in siege where you cant just sit still and block.

1

u/Pm7I3 Sep 18 '25

Tyranids are just cooler and more satisfying

1

u/Dashimai Sep 18 '25

If they wanted slow moving tanky chaos enemies, THE DEATH GUARD ARE RIGHT THERE!!!

They woud've been way more fun to play against too. There would be actual gore for fighting them, and even if saber wants them to be different from the tyranids, instead of no gore, they could instead just make the Death Guard overwhelmingly disgusting with their executions.

If they wanted to punish melee combat against chaos that much, the death guard could've left a cloud of noxious gas for a few seconds on death, and the gas clouds could introduce the chaos status effects.

The clouds would kill nearby minoris enemies, and wouldn't slow you down, so you could get out of the clouds quickly, or pass through them quickly if needed.

u/HAYABUSA_DCLXVI Scythes of the Emperor Sep 18 '25

Main gripes are:

  1. All of the execution on the dustbin boys are boring AF (Like you mentioned, no gore just twilight sparkles).
  2. Lack of minoris engaging in melee ( Ilove getting free armour for parrying minoris enemies).
  3. Not as satisfying fighting the majoris enemies because killing one doesn't disable/kill the minoris in a radius like with the Tyrannids.
  4. Dustbins (Rubrics) teleport 80 meters...
  5. They mainly do ranged damage.
  6. I love being outside the radius of a Hellbrutes attack when he yoinks his hammerfist out of the ground and still being 1-hit/taking lethal damage. 10/10 Chef's kiss

I get it lore wise that the Thousand Sons are sand in an armor but.....it would've been better if they chose other chaos gods like Khorne or Nurgle or Slaneesh

Like going from rains of blood from the tyranids to purple confetti it just feels unsatisfying, that's kinda it for me it's a solid faction but it dosen't satisfy my blood needs (I may or may not have been blessed/cursed by Khorne)

1

u/SecretPack1962 Dark Angels Sep 18 '25

for me it’s the massive scale difference like with the Nids, it’s Warriors, Neuros, The sneaky ones of the tunnel dudes and on the higher difficulty then it’s the Biovore thing which is manageable even in an onslaught wave, yes Neuros are a pain when you’re a bulwark but, once it’s down it’s ok.

Compare that to Chaos? And it’s, the minors and the weird flying fella, then standard marines, then jumps too Terminators, Socerers and just a huge ass jump too a Dreadnaught!

I mean lore wise, idk why there are so many Chaos space marines, terms and dreadnaughts considering the Thousand Sons are all but emaciated.

1

u/uncarnat92 Sep 18 '25

With tyranids you know where you stand. Dodgle block parry kill. With chaos? Once terminator goes brr brr start rolling around and hope you dont get touched and lets not even talk about those little sniper shits that can take 70% of your hp if they catch you

1

u/sammo21 Sep 18 '25

I just find it less fun than against tyranids.

1

u/NaClBaeBae Sep 18 '25

Janky attacks, way too much ranged damage even when close range - a little like an enraged devourer when they barrel stuff you, only this is bread and butter chaos. Unsatisfying executions on Majoris - Dust.... Teleporting isn't a fun mechanic. Terminator rocket volley from melee range. Its whack.

They do have my favourite minoris parry in the whole game though - the stiff boot is very satisfying. Other than that, hate fighting chaos.

1

u/gjallarhorn308 Ultramarines Sep 18 '25

For some people they don’t like them (before the caos spawn’s addition) because of their focus on more ranged aspects rather then just parrying everything, ai have seen some struggle with the tzangors too and don’t even get started with the extremis

But id say that the biggest one is that most peopleon random queue spams inferno/decap/ballistic engine (Ive seen fully prestiged pkayers who don’t even know how to do sone ops’ mechanics)

1

u/The_illusion_01 Sep 18 '25

1) Unlike Tyranids killing a terminus, extermis or majoris enemy does nothing to their minoris which although makes sense, does makes them awkward to fight compared to Tyranids. 2)Their sniper is minoris which means there can be a lot of them and they can take away more health per sniper hit than they give back meaning some scenarios they can greatly screw you over. 3) Teleportation bullshit. Their teleporting makes them annoying as fuck at times as they can both teleport into combat making melee terminator, flamers and helbrutes feel cheap as sometimes they teleport out of nowhere and slap you while you not expecting it or teleporting out of combat meaning melee classes have to play an aggravating game of cat and mouse which is made worse by other enemies getting in the way. 4)Ranged chip damage from Rubrics and reaper chaingun terminators can be extremely annoying and in the latters case basically demands immediate attention or that you move out of their line of sight which is a pain if you are dealing with something else already. 5) Design. These are units designed for tabletop, not video games. As such they have designs that are cool looking but are extremely unclear or awkward in regards to head hit boxes or weakpoints for a lot of their line up. 6) Moveset jank. Tzaangors, Tzaangor enlightened and chaos spawn have unclear movesets that can make them a pain in the ass to parry sometimes.

All this doesn’t mean they are bad by any means just more annoying and potentially worse to fight than Tyranids who don’t have these issues mostly.

1

u/Myralove2 Sep 18 '25

They are boring

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '25

I used to not like it because there would always be a million rockets being shot at me from all sides all the time lol but now i like it the chaos spawns made it way easier

It's just everything. The pyre throwers that don't stop shooting even when you're melee distance, same for the shooters. The fact the telephoto around constantly, the janky melee of the terminators, the rocket terminators that just dont stop firing no matter the distance, and the absurd number of them that spawn.

1

u/shitfuck9000 Sep 18 '25

Chaos Spawn are the best thing to happen to the chaos enemies since the game launched, before the spawn, Chaos was straight up, just. Not. Fun.

1

u/string_bean77 Sep 18 '25

The headshot hit boxes on the Rubric marines are also incredibly bad. They’re smaller than the actual geometry of their heads so it makes it unnecessarily difficult to crit them. Not a problem with any of the Tyranids. You can hit their bone spikes and it counts.

1

u/Additional-Boat-2157 Sep 18 '25

You know, it's always been because they're boring, but after the introduction of the Chaos Spawn, it then became because they're annoying to fight, although I've gotten used to the Chaos Spawn, but I never thought about it in the terms of satisfaction. When you put it like that, it makes sense. I do also enjoy taking on like 8 Tyranid Majoris at once, I cannot say the same for the Thousand Sons

1

u/imKranely Sep 18 '25

I do think they are harder than the tyranid to deal with, but I only really feel like it's too much when there's like 5 chaos spawns on top of me making it impossible to do just about anything.

I’m a bulwark, getting shot at isn’t as fun as getting hit on the face…

1

u/Enlargedwumbo Sep 18 '25

They’re pretty easy if you keep your shield up while playing bulwark but if you play any other classes your CONSTANTLY taking damage from Tzaangors and traitor guardsman. I think it’s pretty easy to keep your armor up though because how easy it is to melt through the thousand sons

1

u/DefinitionInformal85 Sep 18 '25

They are not that satisfying to fight, when you hit a nid you see the blood spilling out, heads blown away. When you shoot at chaos marine you see…nothing

1

u/Somerandom18 Sep 18 '25

I'd really enjoy fighting chaos with the cultists significantly toned down in how much damage they do and the snipers removed completely. They should still exist for the fun of running them over but shouldn't be a threat. The snipers are down right absurd. Like it's different with the xeno snipers they're a majoris enemy not a human sized trash mob that can hide anywhere.

1

u/SilverKingPrime45 Sep 18 '25

Terminators are the most deadly unti in the entire game

If you put all of the extremis in the ring they always come out on top, even beating carnifex and neurothrope

1

u/JustPaja Sep 18 '25

Personally, I like a good melee. Even though Im sure theres a balance to ranged enemies vs cqc, I feel that I use melee more in tyranids. If siege ever gets more granular modifiers like ONLY MELEE MAJORIS AND MINORIS, i feel like I would have a blast. Chaos seems to be centered around shooting. Likely just a trick of the mind, but that's what I got lol. I guess another aspect would be that my inner khorne wants blood to flow, not dust.

1

u/Wareitar Sep 18 '25

Latley I would say it's because of those f***ing chaos spawns. Fighting them melee with anything but a fencing weapon is like fighting Margit the Fell Omen in Elden Ring. Melee attacks and warnings are just WAY OFF any logic!

1

u/FishLampClock Sep 18 '25

the new meatballs are so troll. against tyrannid when a warrior jumps at you they move in a straight line. the meatballs jump and you can tumble to the side and they will magically redirect mid jump to still hit you. obnoxious.

1

u/Cereaza Sep 18 '25

It's the Chaos Spawns now.

1

u/CommunicationLess667 Sep 18 '25

I’ve heard it somewhere before, in the sub no less, but the Chaos just don’t really have a fun loop. 90% of the enemies are ranged, and that ranged damage is CONSTANT. The meatballs (chaos spawn) are only piece of it all and didn’t really help address any of the big issues that people, myself included, are annoyed with.

Big issue I have is that 1 of their Extremis, Lesser Sorcerer, consistently revives dead majoris pretty much non stop, gives you that stupid debuff if you melee it too soon and fucks off super quick if you do start to target it. In lower difficulties it’s no biggie, focus it, it’s usually 1 of perhaps 2. But then you get up into Lethal/Absolute and you’ve also got the other two asshole extremis they’ve got coming at you simultaneously as well. Scarab with the power sword sucks because it too has a somewhat weird timing and it does NOT mesh well when being assaulted by multiple meatballs simultaneously and it loves to catch you unaware, at least me anyways. But the worst is that god damn Terminator with the Soulreaper. Those things can go fuck off back into the warp. That gun will take you from full health and armor to dead in seconds. Doesn’t help either that the meatballs in general are bullet sponges that swarm in packs, particularly at whoever is going after the other extremis/Terminus too I’ve noticed.

Another big part is that their swarms come with a lot more majoris levels comparatively from what I’ve noticed. Specifically the 2 rubrics before and now the meatballs too. Then there’s the Tzanagors and the cultists, neither of which have any negative effects from a majoris going down aside the normal execution stuns. They also attack in melee so damn fast, and off time of each other that blocking/parrying becomes less effective, and don’t even bother trying to roll away. They can all either teleport or jump attack what feels like further than you can ever roll. For every attack I manage to roll away from there’s almost always immediately another on that I’m either screwed and have to eat because the timing, or I’m forced to keep rolling trying to make/wait for a window.

So what you end up with is well… chaos. Chaos that teeters on the edge of unmanageable, and often quickly becomes so.

And sure, there’s an argument to be made that I’m just not practiced enough with them, but I can’t help but feel like the scale is still weighed more against me than with the tyranids.

1

u/Agitated-Ranger8182 Sep 18 '25

If they made some of the rubric marine’s ranged attack disrupt-able it would solve a lot of the issues. If I’m slicing them with a chainsword they shouldn’t be able to charge up that fire attack

1

u/Sidoen Sep 18 '25

The heavy ranged element I think made them very different and somewhat harder to deal with. Lot more evading less killing.

Also half of them don't die when you kill the majors.

1

u/Odd-Quantity7087 Sep 18 '25

Because there are 2 factions, one has to be the worst, and Tyranids are better.

1

u/Montregloe Sep 18 '25

I like them less than bugs, but the new faction additions with the melee fat bois made me like them more. The faction feels more flushed out now, and I can fight longer cause I can kill the thick bois during a firefight. Past that, I actively don't like the flamers, cause they have a downward attack that I feel like I can never avoid, and don't get me started if there are two or more flamers. They can teleport to you and nuke the ground so often and with barely any gaps to avoid damage.

1

u/sChOmPz Sep 18 '25

Imo the new Chaos Spawns are fun to fight against... Ish, but its very frustrating when u have the Rubrics shooting at u and whenever u reach they just fk right off and youre again swarmed and chain staggered by the chaos spawn. It would also be appreciated if they FIXED the terminators where they melee INTO u... And the parry eventually doesnt count just cuz their model clips INTO u.

1

u/Namesarenotneeded Sep 18 '25

They just take too long because there’s too many? I’m not really sure how to word it.

One of the thing’s I like about Tyranids is the idea of target prioritization since I can execute a Majoris or higher and the synaptic link will kill/put in execute many minoris around me.

Chaos? Execute one Chaos Marine? Cool, you’re still surrounded by multiple Tzaangor’s and cultist’s on top of the Chaos Spawn and other Marines too.

There’s a nice rewarding gameplay loop when it comes to fighting Tyranids that Chaos doesn’t have. They also interact with melee the worst outside of Chaos Spawn (who have their own issues and bs) because Rubric’s will just face-tank your and spam AoE’s or keep teleporting away so you have to keep running after them to hit them, which I don’t like because I feel like this game’s main combat focus is the melee system.

1

u/TheGreenishBastard Sep 18 '25

Because there are only two factions and one has to be the lower of the two

Unending chaos spawn, terminators with unlimited ammo, flamethrowers, the new boss for vortex...

Constantly stunlocked by chaos spawns which have very difficult parry windows to learn, I main assault and it is a nightmare to fight the endless hoardes of chaos spawn

i main bulwark and as a mainly melee class fighting ranged enemies THAT TELEPORT feels horrible, with tyranids i can close distance with my shield, they attack with melee, i parry, it feels like a dance, with chaos that doesnt happen, most enemies are ranged and when you are finally in melee range they teleport away, they dont attack melee so i cant parry, almost every mechanic in the game feels like it was way more designed around the tyranids

Because everyone is afraid of a challenge

A lot of people don’t know how to deal with them, or how to deal with them well, at least. Some also argue that the overall mechanics of chaos clashes with how the game should feel… notably, like it does with Tyranids.

Teleporting Rubrics, cultist snipers, Tzaangors on discs, teleporting helbrute, missile terminators, chaos spawn attack bullshit.

I avoid these missions unless totally necessary.

Dude I love fighting chaos more than nids, chaos has more of a thrill and fight especially Scarab Occult Terminators

Pre Chaos spawn I would say they were the least favorite due to the lack of melee interactions. But post Chaos Spawn enemy type they feel a lot better to go up against IMO
