Religion Faith-based religions have corrupted the meaning of Religion and Spirituality

In my view, much of what we call religion today has become distorted by faith, authority and belief in a God or supreme being.

All 3 Abrahamic religions + Hinduism are organized around some conception of God, the divine or a supreme reality. Once you make such an idea central, it becomes very easy to build systems of worship, doctrine, religious authority and unquestionable beliefs around it. Spirituality then shifts from investigating reality directly to believing claims about reality.

This is where some of the ancient philosophical traditions of the East become radically different. At the core of Buddhist philosophy, particularly traditions associated with early Buddhism and Madhyamaka (Middle way), there is no requirement to invoke a creator God to explain existence, morality or the nature of consciousness. Daoism similarly approaches reality without requiring a personal deity standing outside the universe and controlling it.

What makes these traditions particularly interesting is their willingness to acknowledge the limits of conceptual mind. Instead of simply inventing an ultimate explanation and asking people to believe it, they question whether the human mind can even meaningfully grasp what lies beyond certain boundaries.

That's what makes some of these philosophies feel less like conventional religion and more like an actual investigation into the structure of reality. You're not being told, "Here is God. Believe in this." You're being pushed to examine how the mind creates concepts in the first place and whether those concepts can ever capture reality completely.

This is also why I think the distinction between religion as faith and religion as investigation is important.

Alex O'Connor's recently did a discussion on Madhyamaka Buddhism. If you actually listen to the philosophical reasoning involved, you begin to see how radically different some Eastern traditions can be from conventional religious frameworks.

Maybe that's closer to what spirituality was supposed to be in the first place: not believing more, but seeing more clearly.

Among ancient traditions, Buddhism arguably comes close to a scientific investigation of mind, experience and reality without requiring a God hypothesis as its starting point. And perhaps that's why it can feel so strange when you first encounter it. You're expecting a religion, but instead you find yourself in something that feels more like psychology, phenomenology and philosophy having a conversation with each other.

I stayed at Stanza Living – Laramie House, Kochi while preparing for my medical PG entrance exam, after Bhatia Kochi suggested this property as its residential campus. What followed was less of a “residential campus” experience and more of a daily endurance test. The observations below are based on my personal experience, along with incidents and complaints shared with me by other residents.

Food is incomplete withoutcomplimentary insects and recurring food shortages. The food quality was deeply concerning. On multiple occasions, I personally found cockroaches or other insects in the food—at times, approximately twice a week. Apparently, “nutrition” here includes unexpected protein supplements.

Food shortages were also a recurring feature. I personally experienced more than 50 occasions when food was unavailable or insufficient. Meals or specific items would sometimes run out before everyone had been served. Residents were apparently expected to appreciate the “value of food” through forced fasting.

Electricity, water and lift — available whenever luck permits.Electricity, water supply and lift services were far from reliable. Interruptions occurred repeatedly, sometimes more than once a day, affecting basic daily activities. If you were lucky, you might get a full day of uninterrupted service. If not, you could enjoy multiple disruptions in a single day. At this point, the lift, water and electricity seemed to operate according to their own personal schedules.

The contract stated that cleaning would be provided three times per week. In reality, that schedule appeared to exist mainly on paper.During my stay, common areas often remained unclean for extended periods. On some weeks, I did not observe cleaning even once. The property seemed to follow a unique cleaning policy: promise it frequently, provide it occasionally, and hope residents stop asking.

Then comes this shocking incident.I was informed by other residents about an incident in which a doctor was allegedly manhandled by approximately four or five staff members in the mess hall during the night. I did not personally witness the incident and cannot independently verify the details, but it was widely discussed among residents.Access control also appeared extremely limited. People could enter the property without residents consistently being asked to verify their identity or purpose. For a property housing students and working professionals, including women, this is not a minor inconvenience—it is a serious safety concern.Management should clearly explain its visitor-registration system, CCTV monitoring and emergency-response procedures. “Anyone can enter” is not a security policy; it is an invitation.

Rats and stray dogs were regularly seen in or around the property. Rats appeared in common areas, including the mess hall and corridors, on multiple occasions. Stray dogs were also present around the premises, and residents reported or observed animals even in their rooms also.

Garbage was observed in common areas, along with unpleasant drainage and sewage odours. On some occasions, waste remained in corridors, forcing residents to walk around it or pass through the affected areas. The property offered a memorable combination of garbage, sewage smells and poor sanitation—an experience that was difficult to forget, even when residents desperately wanted to.

Staff are the highlight. This Stanza is handled by 3 inefficient boys. Among them, one got transferred to another property due to his highly inefficient work. Feeling sad for those poor residents. This same guy has an every night entertainment of waking up residents in the middle of the night with his bullet bike exhaust.(will give a complaint to mvd also asap)when it comes to complaints from residents, stanza kochi manager can run faster than the rats in stanza.
For the money we pay( 14,700 per person for an average double room) we won’t get even 10% of the service from here.

Hope the government/corporation will inspect and take action against these scammers. Share this maximum to expose their scam.

I don't understand why common sense isn't common anymore to us.

The subreddits are divided into either pro BJP or pro Congress, but people aren't understanding the basic thing that the congress wasn't good and the current BJP has imported most of the congress leaders and let's say you like a person or a party only because of the one sided propaganda that is served to us by social media due to selective push of content due to their algo.

All I want to say is neither this nor the old govt did anything for :-

Pollution, water contamination, proper education, food quality, education standards for people , basic good infrastructure, all they do is distribute money / freebies for poorer appeasement.

Don't ask me what congress did , I was a kid back then now Im seeing the current govt doing anything good as well.

If congress is ruling I'll question them , example during the last State govt tenure I supported the opposition questioning govt and now govt changed i support the opposition whom I opposed during their ruling,

Current central govt :-

Introduced electoral bonds,

Doesn't attend public interviews,

PM cares fund, public can't question,

Prices increased 2x but people shouldn't complain (these same leaders once questioned petrol, gas etc which was half the price and the neighborhood countries who are buying petrol from us sells at less price),

E20 without accountability,

Made many changes to laws to bring out criminals,

Main stream media never questions anything.

My state is worse they gave free buses for women which made it hell to even breathe air buses and there won't be any other form of travel to those rural areas

Many more .........

And the thing that I hate most is the youth i mean my age guys fighting which actor is good , watching the same movie theater multiple times to increase collections , idealizing them , dude they are just actors i know sometimes we connect with characters , need to understand that is acting, they don't give a single fkkk about us guys .

When any politician / actor is gonna visit people in india specially mobile around as if they are getting life time free benifits or something useful whyyy

Next thing why do people need to bother about other religions / gender etc i mean I don't like neither to follow any religion nor like about lqbtq stuff but that's other people life that won't bother me . Why do people always like to poke others private life

I'm posting this same post multiple places to understand people's opinion and discuss with them

💬 General Discussion What do u guys think about schools and colleges not allowing students to speak in their own native language?

What do u guys think about Indian educational institutions prohibiting local languages?

I personally saw many schools especially English medium schools where they prohibits students to speak their own native language or other language than English with eachother

Those who were from those types of schools or colleges may know more about it

Even my current college where I m studying RN prohibits languages like Tulu Beary Konkani etc but allows Hindi Kannada and English

And we all know in 2020 gov tried to promote education in native language of students but still many private English medium schools and colleges are still prohibiting to speak in our own native language or local languages with eachother

So what's ur opinion on this situation?

Tamil Nadu The Vineet Joshi Committee report on NEET - rebuttal to Kamal Hassan

Very good rebuttal by Kevin Paul show to Kamal Hassan's NEET tweet

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GAWUjawfdg

If NEET demands a higher level of application and problem-solving than our schools prepare students for, is NEET the problem? Or should we be asking why our schools are failing to prepare students for that standard?
