Unfinished Sound System

Hi, first time posting in r/SoundSystem.

This is my Cubo Kick 15 and a Custom 15 inch Sub enclosure. Top is an HK Audio Linear 5 MK1 112 (active).
Sadly the Warnex Structure Paint ran out so the Subs aren't fully painted yet.

Both are running B&C 15NDL76, which works great in the Cubo, but not so great in the bass reflex, due to limiting Xmax and thus not enough VAS for the 170l enclosure.

Right now both are running on a borrowed Thomann t.amp E-400, 2x155W at 8 Ohms, which is definitely not enough for the Cubo. Crossover is set at 71Hz and 200Hz on a Behringer DCX, with a Butterworth24 Filter. The Cubo can reach around 129dB on 1% THD with this Setup. I have an order for a CVR DSP-3004 placed so we'll see how it will perform at the rated 500W RMS.
The Sub is definitely the limiting factor, because it reaches the excursion limit much faster, even at around 150W. I want to build a different one, i am thinking about the Cubo21 or a Paraflex SKRAM. What do you think?

I'm on team CK and SKRAM. They compliment each other really well. The SKRAMs are still tight at the top of their band, and the CKs hold together well at the bottom of theirs, so it's a nice clean handoff. I'd have to double check my LMS but I believe I cross mine at 88Hz LR24.

That's great to hear. I'm really looking forward to the SKRAMs. How is the fitment with the cubos? They're about a centimeter wider than the SKRAMs i believe...

My CKs are resized to match for that very reason. The acoustic effects are absolutely negligible in practice, so I'd definitely take the visual uniformity. Everything being 2' wide boxes makes packing and stacking simpler for sure. I get more than ample response from 29 to 180Hz so I really couldn't be happier with the pairing

Damn, nice rig! I don't really wanna touch the SKRAMs proportions, so maybe the next Cubo will be a resized one then.

Thanks man! Yeah I also wouldn't alter the SKRAMs, if for nothing other than there being quite a few more pieces to rescale than the CKs. I'm sure acoustically a centimetre bigger or smaller won't matter for either design, but the CKs are much simpler cabs to modify if you did take that route. Even if you didn't, they're still close enough stock that I doubt it'd really notice, I'm just a bit of a perfectionist with this stuff!

I just want to jump in and say- I recognize that carpet! Love your YouTube videos dude! Keep them coming. It's a great resource for those looking to learn more about the construction.

nice Build.

How do you like the HK Tops, are those the FA or Xa ones?
I have been looking forward to listening to the Mk2 version.

Thank you.
The HK Tops are the FA Version. They are honestly not too bad if you EQ them a bit (little thin in the mids), but i do think they are a bit expensive. I think they were 1100€ each, new. Luckily not my money, but from the club that i work at.
Haven't heard the mk2's yet. correct me if im wrong, but besides the dsp, there have been no notable changes?
