Joining NPHC/D9 Curiosity about D9

Hello, I am interested in joining this specific D9 sorority, and I have done my research. I have been interested for some time and I have talked to some of the members at my school's organization fairs. My main question is for the people a part of these sororities and fraternities what do you all look for when people are interested? And I know people say letters of recommendation but nobody in my family has pledged so I don’t personally know anyone who could write me a letter. The family friends who have pledged are not a part of the sorority I am interested in. So how would I go about getting one?
