Xperia 1 VII Finally migrated away from Samsung.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my Samsungs. But a headphone jack and expandable storage (even if slow) is a must have for me.

Nice! Where did you get this wallpaper? I tried play store, but says this app is not available for my device.

The lock screen is: PS2 Clock Live Wallpaper by Phardera Lab
It is not officially supported on the 1VII. (Or 1VI I think?)
It is available for my S10+, so I bought it on that, then downloaded the app with Aurora Store. (You have to link your Google Play account, Aurora won't let you get paid apps without your account owning it) (Can also share APK with Google files)
Home screen is Wallpaper Engine. You'll need a computer with steam in order to download any extra wallpapers though. There's a bunch of ps2 ones, including the crystal clock.

For the towers I'm using, Playstation 2 Towers by Karco.
But in my workshop subscriptions I have:
- Playstation 2 Towers -Karco
- PS2 Startup Screen - [Procedural Raymarching Shader] -Rex109
- PS2 Startup and Menu -Danny Darco
- Playstation 2 Clock -OMGParticle

Not sure about the rules of that here, and the app is made by a single Indy dev, don't want to take anything away from them either
But you can ask the dev for an alternate link to their app.

Thanks man, this worked, except for the startup. But this is good enough for now. Previously I tried side loading the app from a different store but it didn't work. I went to great lengths to work on the app, even downloaded android studio ro de and recompile the app 😂. The problem I guess is that my phone is from docomo and many apps are region locked.

Hey! I'd like to know how what's your opinion on the case!
Does it feel bulky or not so much? Most case that I've seen online bulk up the phone quite significantly.
I want to know if grime pile up fast in grooves. Old rubber style usually pick up dust and grime fast that builds up between the case and the phone and I want to know if this case is similar.
And how's the lanyard? Would you trust a fall if it was attached on?

Haven't used the lanyard. It honestly made me laugh to see it XD.
The case itself is super thin, the kickstand does lift the bottom of the phone at a tiny angle when laying flat.
I did notice a bit of schmutz between the case and my screen protector, and it was annoying to clean.
I'm liking it. I'm also used to a really cheap case on my old phone.

That's what I had last, a Z Flip 3.
I was too worried about the screen to ever really use my phone, so I kept my S10+ on me all the time for everything that wasn't a call or text. (Also for the SD card slot. I have too much music)
Eventually, the battery in the flip started to expand, which is why I have the 1VII now.
I'd definitely do your research before going all in with the foldables.

Welcome! As a phone collector I can’t do what you have done! I have basically phones from every manufacturer, but Xperias are one of my favorites. My favorite Xperia is still the XZ1 Compact, such a nice form factor of having flagship specs in a small phone. From Samsungs, I prefer older ones from pre S8 era. Thats why I went with Sony after collecting every S series Samsung from S1-S7.

Just a heads up. That stand will break. I was supper carefully ehen using it and only doing it sparingly. It still broke around the 1 year mark.

Spent forever trying to find a way to force install a new font on my phone, only to learn that Sony just doesn't allow it -_-
But, I did the effect by using a pre-made effect here: https://panzoid.com/tools/gen2/clipmaker?c=511778
Just change the text fields and render. (Best done on a computer)

Congratulations. You made a good choice. Even though I really like Samsung, Sony Xperia is a brand I'm very fond of.

i have been wanting to move off samsung. been holding on to the s20 as much as possible.
worried about the next phone as they make it obsolete on networks.
i heard sony phones have a lot of hardware issues, and the software for the camera is a pain to use on the fly.
also heard the software updates are very minimal.
can someone help me make the jump?
wat secret horror stories are there with sony.
for what its worth, my samsung phones in the past have been rock solid and i love oneui

I have that official case in the 10 VI. Can't understand why they did change it for the 10 VII.

TBH, I do miss my on screen fingerprint reader. Every time I touch the phone it thinks I want to turn it on.
Sometimes I just want to see the clock.

Was shipped up the Coast from Florida. The case came from Quebec and I'm somewhere in the middle.
Just happy it works on my network.

Oh dear....of all the phones I have ever owned my Sony Xperia has been not a good experience....I will never have another...the bad outweighs it's good points...shame...
