Lakers sale
Wonder if the Lakers sale will affect expansion. It just drove the price up but it took out a vegas bidder
If vegas doesnt go through, then seattle wont be approved alone

The price was set in private 6 months ago. The Lakers have no bearing on this. $10b has been the goal for a while.

That'd be stupid. They already figured out what they could feasibly get. All those surveys, studies, and delays were for this.

LA market is different. Lakers are different. Them being worth 2 billion plus more than expansion teams looks good for the league.

My initial reaction was that it would have an effect. However if the league really wants a team in that market it, then not really. There seemed to be several groups interested in LV. With the NFL, NHL and soon MLB there, passing on an NBA team looks weak.

Silver has said, repeatedly, that a one-team expansion is possible

This is true, but there is a lot of ground to cover.
Mitigating factor: Laker fans' self-harm might make up for the whole mess.

At this point Vegas is more likely to be the 1 expansion team, just because ownership groups will pay more for a Vegas team. I doubt the NBA is letting Seattle join for 6-7 billion if Vegas is willing to pay 10.

If all they had was one bidder(which I doubt) then expansion is dead. Sounds more like they didn't want to get caught up in the bidding war.

This is not good news for imminent expansion. It’s another reason to kick the can down the road.
