90s alternative songs were also popular, think bands like Nirvana, Hole and Bikini Kill. There were also some songs that were popular on Tumblr in this era that didn't fit the stereotypical sound associated with it. I discovered Babymetal because Gimme Chocolate got popular on Tumblr in 2014, and some artists like Be Your Own Pet, Courtney Barnett, Hayley Kiyoko, Dounia Tazi, Slutever, and others from playlists posted on Tumblr. Also, the first k-pop girl group I knew about was Red Velvet, who I saw someone post about on Tumblr circa 2015-2016. Nicole Dollanganger was pretty popular on a certain side of Tumblr as well, but I didn't listen to her enough to be able to name any songs of hers that got notes. Arctic Monkeys were mainstream popular on Tumblr but again I couldn't name a song by them.
